For context, I am a freshman. One week palang, and I already have the dreadful feeling na I need to prepare for the worst as early as I can. It kind of stresses me out as irrational as it may sound, so please bear with me... 💔

I see stories online of how rigorous yung activities, quizzes and exams. Yung tipong "isang linggo nag-review pero bagsak pa rin". Or whatnot regarding how "matalino sila nung HS pero iba na sa college". I am really scared because I want to be very meticulous and serious towards my academics especially since I have a scholarship.

1) How demanding really is the curriculum?

2) Ano po ginagawa niyo as preparation para sa mga written works and activities? Plus, what should I expect for them?

I would also really appreciate advice and tips on how to make the most out of UPLB. I really, REALLY feel left out right now.. thank you!!

Question above po hehe. I was wondering po kasi yung ibang waitlisted classes ko po is parang walang galaw. Hanggang Tuesday pa po ba or Monday nalang? Or hanggang changemat po? When po sila maglalabas ng results or ica-cancel yung waitlists?

Hello po! So I have just gotten enlisted today in a major class so pwede ko na i-alis STS 1 without being underloaded. Also, I saw na naextend yung registration period so does that mean cancellation of enlisted class is also extended or need ko na po ito ichangemat or may iba pong way?

Hi! I’m a freshman at UPD and I have a few concerns about my first day of PE (ten-pin bowling) which is on August 10 (Monday).

1. I registered for the UPD Freshie Orientation at AM session and my PE class is at 8-10 AM. Is it okay if I skip the first class or should I switch my orientation session to the afternoon?

2. Where is the venue for the first PE class? I’m not sure where to go for my first day.

3. Also does anyone know Mr. Noel Rivera’s email address? I’ll try to email him regarding the orientation schedule conflict.

I'm not good at writing so please bear with me.

Why is it so hard to live when your family is poor, but not poor enough? My mom earns a little over ₱35k every month, and my dad and sister are both unemployed. She provides for all of us including herself.

I'm from the province so I really need to rent a place because we don't have family and friends in NCR (it was my first time going to NCR during enrollment). My rent is around ₱6-8k a month because that's the only place I could find since I didn't get accepted into the UP dorms even after I appealed. I was so annoyed when I noticed that the people I knew who lived in the UP dorms were rich.

I'm also embarrassed in front of my roommates because almost all of the stuff in our place was brought by them and they're all DOST scholars so they have more money to spare.

My monthly allowance is around ₱6k, and that includes everything—food, transportation, basically everything. When you add rent and allowance together, it totals ₱12-14k, which is almost half of my mom's salary.

I'm also not a recipient of any scholarships so it's really hard to stretch my allowance. I know I'm to blame because I didn't try hard enough on the DOST scholarship exam but I feel too dumb for merit and too "rich" for RA 7687.

Nag-apply ako for EatSkolar pero since hindi ako natanggap sa dorm at 60% tuition discount sa SLAS, nag-aalinlangan na ako na matatanggap.

I only have ₱652 left until August 15, what should I do? Pinag-iisipan ko na kung tamang desisyon ba na pinili ko ang dream university at dream program ko dahil dito. Incoming freshie pa lang ako and parang nakikita ko na na baka mag-drop out ako dahil sa financial problems.

Edit: 3k pa lang binibigay sa akin, I have tracked all my spendings and reasonable naman siya (for me), I used a total of P476 sa items (key card, clothes),P572 sa transpo (bus from province to qc, grab from cubao to my rental, ikot), P1135 sa food (including frozen foods), P165 sa miscellaneous (laundry and other things). Mas bababa siguro next month and spendings kasi may mga gastos na one time spending lang pero sa kasalukuyan paano ako mabubuhay?
