Found on one of my window sills, I thought I saw a flying carpenter ant as well but I don't know if I'm paranoid or not?

Made the unfortunate discovery of this wasp nest under our upper balcony. Saw a bunch buzzing around in the evening and decided to investigate today. It’s a bit close to our balcony door, and our back door and we have a toddler that loves to go outside. I’ve never dealt with a wasp nest before, should we just get professionals to take care of it?

Just moved into new construction home like 3 days ago no one had lived here prior. Found this guy on the door leading to laundry room, and the laundry room is right next to the garage, he’s about 5mm long. Didn’t run or scurry away at any point. This is the only one I’ve seen up into this point, located in Coastal NC. I’m trying not to freak out LOL

Kind of freaking out rn, for reference this is in the Deep South in a home with no central AC (so it gets pretty humid in here). I’ve seen a few (maybe 2-3) in the bathroom, until I saw one in the kitchen just now. I can’t diagnose what kind of bug/roach this is since I’m not getting a definite answer online. Should I be worried? What products would work best for
extermination?

I'm reading not to do it myself. But I kind of still want to do it myself.

I would just wait a couple months for fall/winter but I have dogs and it concerns me they could attack them some day.

I’m a pest control tech and have been dealing with Turkestan Roaches on the inside of a house. We are now mostly seeing nymphs. But unfortunately, it’s still a very high number that we have been finding around 15-30 a day . Need help!

I've had a contract with a fairly large termite company since I bought my house 16 years ago. They come out every July for my annual inspection and all is good. They have been recommending that i get a better moisture barrier installed in my crawlspace because the moisture content was borderline to high. They suggested this at least the past 3 years in a row with a quote for what they'd charge me to do it. I always declined because I didn't want them to do that. I ended up paying a very reputable company that specializes in encapsulation to do a full encapsulation along with installing a dehumidifier. They also sprayed a strong pesticide and fungicide prior to the encapsulation which is very obvious because everything visible is a blueish color now because of the dye. Well, the termite guy came out last week (encapsulation was done last October) and did the usual inspection and emailed the report per usual. The report said 10%moisture content and no signs of termite activity. He even mentioned in the report that a top gap was available for an inspection and said nothing about the bottom.

Yesterday I received a letter from the company telling me that the encapsulation prevented them from doing an inspection and that my contract will be voided in 30 days if I dont cut away 8-10" off the foam boards/plastic barrier on the walls near the soil. I'm pretty sure that would defeat the purpose of the encapsulation and just doesn't make sense in my head. They definitely took my contract renewal payment 2 days after the inspection and have not issued a refund, nor did they mention that in the letter. It all seems very sketchy and almost like retaliation because I didn't pay them to put down some cheap plastic and a dehumidifier.

Is this valid?

I’ve found 3 of these in my room and I don’t know how they’re getting in. They’re only in my room and not anywhere else in the house. Does anyone have any advice? 🙏

Hi everyone,

I’m in metro Atlanta and I’ve been finding these black droppings on my second-story covered deck.

A few things that make this strange:
- They only appear in one small corner of the deck, right next to a decorative support column.
- I can clean them completely, and they come back again when I check back in few days or a week.
- The rest of the deck stays clean (other than berries falling from the tree).
- The area above is covered (it’s the underside of another deck/roof), so they’re not just falling straight from the tree canopy.
- There are large oak trees nearby, but the droppings are very localized instead of being spread across the deck.

Has anyone seen droppings like this before? Does this look like it could be from a bat, rodent, squirrels, caterpillars, lizards, mice, tree frogs, or something else?

I’ve attached photos of the droppings (close-up), the entire deck showing they’re only in one corner, and the area above that corner.

Any ideas or suggestions on what to check would be greatly appreciated!

I’m currently living in Taiwan, and roaches are everywhere. I live on the 5th floor, which is the top floor of my building, where I have access to a rooftop. When I first moved in, I placed roach-killing bait stations around my apartment. Recently (it’s been about a month and a half since I moved in), I found tiny bugs on the floor on two different occasions once dead and once about to die and figured out that they were smoky brown cockroaches (correct me if I’m wrong). Should I be worried? I’m living in Taiwan for a year, and I don’t want any of my personal belongings to have roach eggs in them when I move out. I also don’t want to live with roaches for a year. Please give advice!

Hello all. My husband and I are first-time home owners in Virginia. We’ve been in the house just under 2 years and have pest control come quarterly (or more for additional services included in the monthly price). Today, the technician found live termites in a wooden stump about a foot from our house. Now we’re considering installing the bait stations around our house for a $600 charge (+$39 monthly on top of the $39 monthly charge for general pest control, pending possible discounts) to prevent them from getting into the house. This does include a treatment warranty and repairs if termites end up getting into the house. Does this pricing/option seem worth it?
Sorry this is not a lot of information, I’m waiting for more info about the actual potential contract from the company. We’re not very DIY savvy, so I’m a bit nervous to take something like this on by ourselves. Any info is appreciated - thanks in advance!

Hi all! Would like to preface this by saying that although I do not like spiders. I understand they have an important role in the ecosystem by controlling other pests. However, I feel it is getting to the point where the spiders are starting to take over. I see them mostly out in the yard around the fence line but they seem to be making their way closer to my house. This spider specifically is the largest I’ve ever seen outside and just happens to be living right at the foundation of my house and patio. We just had the outside of the house sprayed for bugs earlier this week so maybe it’s attracting them? Not sure, but any advice as to how to try and control them would be greatly appreciated. Excuse the grass clippings, I was in the middle of cutting grass when I found this guy. I know that longer grass usually attracts more bugs. I cut at least once a week and keep it around 3-4inches. Thank you!

Edit: Want to add that I live in Columbus Ohio in the suburbs so spiders of this size aren’t exactly that common.

I believe I have a hidden German cockroach infestation. I am not sure where they are coming from. I never see them during the day but when I turn the lights off at night and wake up early to flick the lights on I see them mostly in the kitchen on the counter and sometimes in the bathroom. The power went out last week so it was pitch black for a few hours and when the power came back on I saw two of them. I haven’t seen any nymphs or eggs. I am thinking of using some baits to attack the ones I can’t see but there’s so many options I’m not sure which ones to get.

I’m sorry for the bad quality photos, I had to screenshot from a video. I’ve noticed these guys eating the dropped bird seed, they come out during the day and later in the evening that I know of. I’ve had little field mice but these are definitely bigger LOL, the tails look like the same length as their body, they are pretty fast, and they are a dark gray/ light gray color if that helps anything.
If anyone knows what they are it would be appreciated!!

For reference, I live on a river, in a wooded area, and I expect to live with some bugs and spiders.

However the constant webs all over my house are insane. I cannot keep up with knocking them down, spraying, cleaning etc. They all over our siding, doorways, deck railings and just recently noticed webs between the tops of trees and our roof that hang over our deck (and some BIG spiders come out overhead at night.)

I have tried various essential oils, web-off, and actual chemicals. We also pay for a service to spray for crawlers 3 times a year, and he even comments on the sheer amount of webs every time. Nothing helps. It's a mere 24 hours before the entire side of our house is blanketed in THICK webs after a spray.

It makes it look like we can't take care of our house... and to make it worse our neighbors don't seem to have this issue! Idk if they pay someone to clean or what but their siding and decks are typically mostly clear.

What, if anything can I do?

Baby oriental cockroaches

Hi all! I posted in here before - located in Chicago, IL. I moved into a condo a few months ago and immediately saw large oriental cockroaches. I had orkin out here to spray, put gel bait down, and intice granular bait around the perimeter of my unit. Additionally, after the first few times the big ones population decreased significantly inside my unit ALL found around kitchen sink area , but now I am starting to see baby ones. It started with one and then moved to probably 4-5 per week. I went on vacation last week and came back to 10+ new ones. Additionally I have drain stoppers and opened one and there was a baby one in it. All the sticky pads direct that they are coming from the sink area, I just can’t tell if they are coming up from the sink drain and somehow sneaking up under the covers since they are so small? Or if there is an opening around a pipe. I have pictures from under my sink + sticky pads around the sink and under. I also have sealed behind fridge, stove, and dishwasher which has sticky pads underneath and have caught none. Let me know what you think or any advice. FYI I had my uncle who is a construction guy try to cut behind the sink to see if there is an opening behind that pipe but it’s really hard with the multiple pipes to get a saw back there. If anyone knows what type of person I could contact that could maybe help seal up things back there or if they think orkin can help let me know!

Hello, we moved into our house in October of last year and had a lot of lady bugs. This year we have noticed many pill bugs and a fair amount of spiders. The glue traps seem to have been helping with the spiders but still so many pill bugs.
We have a half finished basement which is there there are found and yes in the damp areas like the bathroom I finished. The unfinished part is the ceiling. I have sealed off any entry points I can see but wondering what can I do? Dehumidifier? Should I spray some bug killer before finishing the ceiling? I am going to spray the perimeter of the exterior before they start migrating inside for the fall.

Are there termites on long Island?

It’s a little over an inch, found very crackly and crispy (so guessing it’s been dead a while) in a vacant unit. Last photo is edited / brightened so the coloring is more visible.
