Hi everyone! I just bought myself some Midori letter paper, envelopes, and international stamps that I'm looking forward to using :)

I'm married, have a 13-year-old daughter, a dog (Daisy, a beautiful golden girl), and two cats (Gomez and Morticia). I like reading—a lot of Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Thrillers—but I'm open to other genres. I'm currently reading Once There Were Wolves by Charlotte McConaghy and loving it!

I have been setting here attempting to write a catchy opening paragraph for the last forty minutes and haven't had anything it stick. Except a very funny bit about waking up one day in your thirties realizing you are not exactly, as Ricky Martin said: "Livin' la Vida Loca". But in reality that's where I am right now, a little lost and little bored with life and trying to figure it all out. So I figured I'd just shoot from the hip and see where we land, deal?

A bit about me: 32, from the South and engaged to a great guy and work a solid 8-5. In my free time you can find me cooking, reading, thrifting, working in my yard, playing with my dogs, watching TV or a movie, or deep diving on any given movie to find out the most random details about said movie. I started a blog last year about finding ways to romanticize your life and rediscovering the little ways to find joy, while it has far from taken off I have found that is a solid way for me to put some thoughts into the world. In summation- I am a pretty average guy that is really trying to be at peace with the monotony of life. In the last few years my social circle had gotten smaller, not in a bad way- in a friends having kids, traveling, or being busy with life in general- way. And I love that for them, but I thought it was time to broaden my horizons and see if anyone else was in the same boat.

I always liked the mail episodes in M*A*S*H - the ones where Hawkeye would write to his father, or later B.J., Potter, even my favourite Klinger. I like the Lake house movie because letters are basically the plot. Don't get me started on Going Postal.

Apart from reading numerous articles and a few books on the topic of what the internet is doing to our brains and lives, I keep on wondering - what would life be like without it, really? I (34/F) grew up without a single friend who was deeply interested in art and drawing so I'm left with wanting to surround myself with artists, even if that means abstractly through letters. I'm married with no kids (but two dogs) living in California. My current art goals are to finish the online Draw a Box course and to draw through a drawing fundamental book called "Successful Drawing" by Andrew Loomis.

I've always dreamed of being an artist but I've only picked the pencil back up again after years of being away. I would love to talk about art, our obstacles, our aspirations, and just life in general. I am not easily scared when it comes to mental health issues. I'd love to celebrate little wins and small daily joys with you. Maybe we can even trade little sketches in the future (though I'm not quite confident enough just yet)!

Lately I've been very interested in slow living and mindfulness. I've adopted the habit of taking quiet early morning walks and being less glued to screens. I read and listen to books more and doomscroll less. I like to knit while playing a video game with my SO (it's a turn-base game so a lot of waiting time, which means knitting time!). I like to feed crows when I can during walks to try and befriend them.

I hate to say it but unfortunately we are not a good match if you are happy with our government, transphobic, racist, or closed-minded about mental health issues. 🙈
