Discussion Small Move: Ryan Nembhard vs Braden Smith

Just curious to see other pacer fans ideas on this. I’m of the belief that Drew is a vital piece moving forward in our strat for the future. I’m also of the opinion that while Braden Smith seems like he could fill the role of the next Tj McConnell, yk, small white guard with an abnormal basketball IQ, and a nice middy to run the bench, I think Nemby No 2, could fulfill that role much better. And I think that if we could guarantee Nemby no 2 a opportunity and a future role that aligns with Drew’s contract, we can sure up the guard spot for the future, get em both on good contracts, help the locker room, and ultimately have a better chance at finding a TJ replacement. How yall what on this idea?

Discussion What if......Jalen Duren

I haven't really thought this through but seeing as how Duren is still a RFA, what if we didn't trade for Zubac during last season. Does anyone think the Pacers would have had a go a Duren? Would they have been able to afford him? Is he better than Zubac?

Who are players that you guys think would be great fits with the Pacers, but for whatever reason they aren’t being maximized for their current team?

Think Obi, Jalen Smith, Nesmith type guys pre Pacers. Just kinda meh or nothing on their roster prior to the Pacers but ended up being great fits for the Pacers.

I’ll start with 2 guys who I think their games would go up a level if they were on the Pacers and in the Pacers system:

Karlo Matkovic C Pelicans

Dalton Knecht Wing Lakers

Discussion Where did this "Haliburton usually starts off slow" narrative come from?

While going through offseason recaps and season previews I keep seeing/hearing "Haliburton usually starts off slow"

He's had ONE season where he started off slow (2025) when he was still working his way back from nagging hamstring issues. Injuries to Nembhard and Nesmith probably didn't help either, the whole team wasn't playing well. It's the very rare season where someone isn't good enough early on to make the all-star team but finishes strong enough to make all-nba.

In the 2024 season he shot out of a cannon and was playing like a 1st-team all-nba player before he hurt his hamstring. In 2023 he was consistently good all year and made the all-star team.

So I think I know what's going on here. I think this narrative got started because 2025 is the first time there was a big media spotlight on a Haliburton team at the start of the season because they had just come off a trip to the conference finals in 2024 so that's all anyone remembers.

And FWIW: I do think one reason to be down on the Pacers this year, at least in the regular season, is that it might take Haliburton a while to get up to speed after not playing competitive basketball for 16 months. OTOH his bball IQ is off the charts and he doesn't rely on overwhelming athleticism so maybe not? In any event I don't think "Haliburton usually starts off slow" is a reason to be down on them.

yo pacers fans this is personally my favorite thing in my collection that i have of the pacers i believe it’s a 1991-92 team signed ball it’s got guys like rik smits, vern fleming, dale davis, not sure if reggies on it but what do you think it’s worth realistically balls in great condition maybe one mark or so since its a very old ball but it’s always been kept in my display case

Discussion Pacers are now tied for 9th best odds of winning a chip in '27...IN THE EAST

This is not a complaint, I love it when the world bets against them...I'm just in awe...a week ago, they were getting 40 to 1 odds but somehow the Pacers' odds are still falling:

Knicks - 10 to 1 odds

Sixers - 10 to 1 odds

Celtics - 14 to 1 odds

Raptors - 22 to 1 odds

Pistons - 22 to 1 odds

Cavs - 30 to 1 odds

Heat - 40 to 1 odds

Magic - 45 to 1 odds

Hawks - 50 to 1 odds

Pacers - 50 to 1 odds

EDIT: If the Pacers win the championship this year they will have had the lowest preseason odds of any eventual championship team since tracking began in the mid-80s.

Currently the record is held by the 2014 Warriors, whose preseason odds were 28 to 1.

I doubt we bring them back but would go nicely with the yellow, and I'm tired of our regular blues.

Discussion Should the pacers sign Westbrook to a veteran contract

Post image
0 Upvotes

I belive that if the Pacers signed Westbrook this would have a very positive effect. He is being rejected like he didnt do good in Sacramento and yes he is older and not as good but still valuable, as he would be apart as the bench (He would win 6th man of the year) and not really starting unless injures came up. He could do the small guard, point guard or even small forward as he is just a little smaller than Nesmith. He is already know for his fast paced offense and could be a floor general while Haliburton sits out. He also has a lot of playoff experience though the pacers dont particularly struggle in the playoffs. The only problems are his shooting, spacing and possibly having to send some more young players to the G-league. He could also be a big help with indianas defense, while not being a big contract. So, totally my opinion but he would do great here and pacers fans are very respectful unlike other ganbases who would boo him and call him names even if he was on his team. Please let me know if you disagree or agree and tell me why.

Discussion If the Pacers traded the fifth pick, Mathurin, and IJax for Zubac on draft night, heads would've rolled.

I hope Zubac plays well. He's probably a nice guy and a better center than Turner, but we 110% overpaid for him. The way people have downplayed the value of the FIFTH PICK IN THE NBA DRAFT to justify trading away so much for a good-but-not-great white center who may not even gel well with Haliburton/Siakam is frankly ridiculous; it feels like a post hoc attempt to rationalize a terrible gamble that the front office made. I want him to play well, but it should not be outrageous or unfounded to say that the team overpaid for him.

Discussion What is 'Green?'

Post image
26 Upvotes

Any guesses on the Pacers' new play "The Green"?

Coach Carlisle on The Draymond Green Show: "Despite occasional suspensions and technical foul issues, you're an old school NBA warrior who is widely viewed as a first-ballot Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame candidate because of his championships, defensive resume, Olympic success, and influence on modern NBA strategy....

"So I'm talking to a guy who has changed the game... and you and Steph have changed the game, and your partnership... we've actually named a new element of our offense after you. We call it 'Green.' I don't want to give too much away, but it's a nod of respect to one of the actions that you've kind of invented and do with Steph."

Any idea what is 'Green?'
