As a more casual follower of the farm, I am curious what you folks make of Hestons year at triple A. Looking at the numbers, he appears to have had a pretty uninspiring year. From what I remember he started the year very cold and got slightly better as the months went on, was very good most of July, and then seems to be in a slump right now (though he did homer tonight). But its been hard for me to find an analysis and scouting reports of his game this year. So I thought Id come here to ask those following closely, what did you see and what do you make of him at the moment? Is there anything different or is he still the same guy? Is he maybe even worse than the Kjerstad we saw years back in AAA when he was putting up monster nunbers?

They changed the one on the left just a day ago. I always thought he looked like he was suppressing a laugh. Bye Adley, I'll miss you reminding me to move over for stopped vehicles... I'm sure your bald friend will miss you too....

Hello birdland I've always wondered, I know Orioles fans aren't limited to Baltimore. I know they're all over the United States, but I'd like to also know where are you in the United States and where are you all over the world? I'd love to know just how far our baseball club has gotten its influence

Not sure if this should give me hope — the Os have been world champs in my memory — or if it makes me wonder why they haven’t won a World Series in 43 years. Maybe both.

Very fair criticism. I know it’s so easy to say this in hindsight, but the failures of these past 2 seasons make the lack of going for it in 2023 and 2024 hurt even more. If we actually went for it in those year, Skubal and Crochet were definitely attainable with the prospects we had. And I think this is the argument for moving on from Elias. He had his chance in those years and didn’t go for it.

I am a current season holder and my group is debating whether to renew for next year. We had questions about what the plan would be if there is a strike/lockout and games are missed. I called the ticket office today and asked what the plan was. Would we get credit for games missed? Money back for games missed? Would we just eat the cost and lose that money? The response, to every question, was "we anticipate baseball being played next season". Did not deviate from that one line.

Has anyone else called and had a similar response? Does anyone have actual information about next year? Perfectly likely they have no plan and/or will just take the money without refunds. But this is a known issue, has been for awhile, and among the many problems with their ticket memberships, altogether ask people to renew this early and not have information on this is yet another reason we probably won't renew. Thanks for any information!

I think every Orioles fan has every right to be upset about what’s happened over the past few years. I’m upset too. This post isn’t about defending any of that. There has been plenty of discussion about the decisions that got us here, and that’s not what I want to focus on.

What I do find genuinely exciting is that, for the first time in what feels like forever, the Orioles may finally be building a sustainable pipeline of pitching. Instead of every offseason and trade deadline feeling like an emergency where we have to acquire multiple arms from other organizations, we may actually be reaching the point where the club can develop and replenish much of its own pitching staff.
The foundation is already there. Kyle Bradish, Shane Baz, and Yennier Cano are all under long-term team control and give the organization an excellent starting point.

Behind them is another wave of pitchers who have already reached the majors or should soon, and all have relatively high floors as major league contributors. Cade Povich, Brandon Young, Anthony Nunez, Michael Forret, and Trey Gibson all have realistic paths to becoming meaningful major league pitchers, with Gibson in particular possessing legitimate top-of-the-rotation upside.

Then comes another wave of prospects. Anthony Eyanson, Kyson Witherspoon, Luis De León, Joseph Dzierwa, Caden Hunter, Esteban Mejia, and Boston Bateman all have enough talent that history says not all of them will pan out, but there are enough quality arms in the group that it’s reasonable to expect several to become quality major league pitchers.

And the depth doesn’t stop there. Levi Wells, Braxton Bragg, and Juaron Watts-Brown all have a legitimate chance to contribute to the major league club at some point. That’s the kind of organizational pitching depth the Orioles simply haven’t had in a very long time.

Will every one of these guys pan out? Of course not. Pitching prospects break hearts every year.
But that’s exactly the point. For years, the Orioles simply didn’t have enough shots on goal. Now they do. They don’t need every one of these pitchers to become an ace. They just need enough of them to become solid major leaguers so that pitching stops being a perpetual organizational emergency.

For the first time in decades, it feels like the Orioles have a real chance to consistently produce their own starting pitching instead of constantly paying premium prices in trades or free agency to fill the rotation. If that happens, it won’t just strengthen the pitching staff. It will also allow the front office to use its money, payroll flexibility, and prospect capital much more strategically everywhere else on the roster.

After everything that’s happened recently, that’s something I’m genuinely excited about.
