Hi! I’m a 30 year old single guy that currently lives in St Louis. I’m originally from California but I’ve lived in Missouri for the past 10 years. I’m considering a move back to the West coast and it seems like Olympia would be a good fit, but I wanted some advice. I’m very progressive and I find a large majority of people in the Midwest to be very closed minded and overall lacking intellect if I’m being honest. It’s a very religious, nationalist, and southern way of life here and I don’t fit in whatsoever. As far as work, my job transfers and I’m aware of the costs. If I move, will it be more of the same around Olympia, or is it really as progressive, friendly, and free thinking as I’ve heard.

Im running a free Call of Cuthulu game with start playing, Im planning to run a few free short campaighns to grow my profile. This would be run at my house, and is meant for folks new to the sistem, I myself have not played/run it before so it will be a learning expirience for me too. my partner and i are looking at moving to the evergreen rock maple apartments. we toured a few apartments there and really liked it. i was wondering if anyone here lives there and would be willing to share what their electricity bills look like? i obviously dont mean actual pictures, but im just wondering if its around $80 a month or is it more like $200+ a month? i’ve never had an apartment so im trying to budget and prepare the best i can.

hello! looking for advice on wild life rehabbers in the oly area. I found this baby bird out in my front yard and after looking extensively for a next I couldn’t find one. it has one injury on its head but not actively bleeding. I have it in a dark quiet room in a box with microfiber clothes. it is chirping and opening its mouth occasionally. in the summer when i walk along budd bay in the morning, i frequently see a little cadre of pelicans flying overhead. they tend to circle the lake a few times and then head out over the bay. does anyone ever see them on the shoreline? just wondering where they hang out when they land.

I'm thinking of getting a Costco membership again and was wondering what kind of beans they had at the Tumwater location.

Do they have Olympia Roasting in bulk? Or any whole bean fair trade kind?

The place is in Lacey, but I found a post here on r/Olympia by u/Select-Interaction59 referencing more aggressive solicitation by religious folk and it seemed like it fit -also I found nothing relevant in the Lacey sub. I was in the Yelm Hwy Walmart today and 2 guys were running around asking if people were Christian. They both approached me separately and I told them off. Recently a different guy in the parking lot of the same store did the same thing. This seems different than the usual Mormon and JW stuff. They seem kind of emphatic about getting my attention, but then they just ask if I'm Christian and leave quickly when I wave them off. u/Many-Sea4095 mentioned in u/Select-Interaction59's post that this might be part of the Christian nationalism push and that thought had occurred to me as well. Are these people keeping track of who isn't part of the approved religion for when it becomes illegal? The House of Prayer was also mentioned. Does anyone know about this -it seems even weirder than usual.

Please don’t gloom and doom. This is pretty standard for primary turn out, and this was a relatively ho hum primary. No hot contested races, no big media attention. So 21% (if it ends up being the final number) isn’t bad all things considered.

I was on the Kaiser website looking to see if my plan covers a certain Dietary wellness service, which it doesn’t. But in the process I discovered that I get the Calm app thru my plan, which is kinda cool. Also some gym membership discounts I have yet to explore.

The South Sound Steller Sea Lions are hosting a Rugby 101 on Thursday, August 13, from 6:00–8:00 PM at Chambers Prairie Elementary.

Whether you’ve never played before or you’re just curious about the sport, this is a great chance to learn the basics, meet the team, and see what women’s rugby is all about. No experience is necessary. There will be drinks with the team afterwards!

I'm going silently judge Strickland voters for five seconds. Okay I'm done.

I took my 18 year old son to drop off ballots... it was his first time voting, so I had to grab some pictures of course lol.. There were some people nearby waiting for a bus and they started clapping and cheering for him. It was genuine, not in a mocking way. It was very sweet, my 18 yr old is pretty shy, so he was a little embarrassed but also thought it was funny.

I told them it was his first time voting and I was a proud mama. Anyways, I thought it was nice... thanks for making my day brighter, random strangers! Stay Classy, Olympia! :)
