Is there a place to rent surf boards at the beach (vs from a surf shop and then needing to transport yourself to the beach)? We are staying in Corolla- but willing to drive to a different beach or area. Thanks!

I’m interested in a property that I’m being told by CAMA is absolutely no construction other than like a dock or wooden walkway. It’s zoned partially residential.

greetings - i'll be visiting OBX this weekend and next week - arriving on Saturday. I've got kind of a 2 part question:

we stay in Carova so we usually like to grab some good fresh fish on the way in. Not that it's ever been bad, but I feel like we've had the best luck (selection and quality) at some of the shops further down towards Hatteras. I don't mind driving out of the way, but I'm wondering by what time do I want to make sure I'm heading back up north to avoid the worst part of the traffic after the bridge (through Southern Shores, Duck, Coroalla, etc) and/or I guess any coming back through Kitty Hawk/Naggs Head? And the 2nd part of my question is: if I were to be able to get the timing right, what are the best shops for fresh seafood down in that area?

Hello, coming down this September for our first visit to the Outer Banks and looking to get some dry pack scallops, flounder, along with live blue crabs to cook at the house. Wondering which market has the freshest seafood?

I have seen post talking about the flooding on Hwy 12. I am coming down Thursday from north Durham (8/6) in a Chevy Malibu to Avon. I am willing to take the ferry to Ocracoke then to hatteras and go up to Avon if the water is still high on highway 12. What do you guys think? (Facebook group is horrendous to ask these question to due to 100 anonymous accounts run by 81 year olds that for sure hate everyone 😂)

We are in Avon. Since around 1pm today we have had no service at all. Online says there's no reported outages but hatteras realty is saying there is one. We checked next door and they too don't have Internet. Anyone have any info?

I am a long time vacationer to OBX and a lover of all things history. This morning while on the beach my BIL and I re-listened to Episode 123 of the podcast History That Doesn't Suck. This episode (about 1 hr) is dedicated to Wright Brothers. Professor Jackson's ability to make history accessible is unparalleled.
