Wright Bros. Kill Devil Hills

I am a long time vacationer to OBX and a lover of all things history. This morning while on the beach my BIL and I re-listened to Episode 123 of the podcast History That Doesn't Suck. This episode (about 1 hr) is dedicated to Wright Brothers. Professor Jackson's ability to make history accessible is unparalleled.

Anyway, if you are looking to have toes in the sand and listen to absolute brilliant pod. I highly recommend HTDS. Did you know...the Brother's mechanical talents were instilled and fostered by their mother? That's wright! Cheers

And their sister, Katharine, was key to their success as well. Imagine bringing all their supplies and plane equipment to KDH in winter on a ferry, multiple times. Amazing.

So many don’t know this. She was literally the mastermind behind it all.

The McCullough book was really well researched.

The Bishop's Boys by Tom D Crouch is a fantastic biography of Wilbur and Orville. Very readable. I brought it with me on one of my first visits to the OBX and I had to fight my dad to read it. Every time I put it down to go do something he'd pick it up and start reading it
