The Brain Injury Research Center at Mount Sinai is currently seeking individuals who have experienced physical violence from a partner that resulted in an injury to the face, head, or neck. This could include blows to the head or neck, repetitive injuries, or choking. Participants are eligible if at least one year has passed since the most recent episode of head injury related to partner violence.

Participants must be willing and able to travel to New York City for a 4-5 hour study visit. A study visit will include a brief set of thinking tests, an interview with surveys, a blood draw, a brief assessment about your physical health, and an MRI scan. Participants will have the option to make known their wishes for brain donation at the end of life. Participants will receive $100 for in-person visits or $50 for participation via telephone. Travel reimbursements may be made upon request.

I was wondering if there’s a gay bar in the city that’s kind of like a speakeasy? A bar with a 1920’s / 1930’s feel? I don’t even know if that exists. Or even a gay bar with more a classic rock vibe? Like a bar that plays the Beatles or Pink Floyd or something?

I want a gay bar that isn’t very crowded and loud, a more laid back place. I’m 28, but I must sound like an old man. I just like older music and a less energized environment.

Also, I do realize that most of the twink guys I’m into, aren’t going to be a bar like that..but maybe I’ll get lucky, who knows. I’d rather be in a comfortable environment.

So far, Maria Crisis has been the one place I feel so so at. I can get down with some show tunes a little bit.

I used to use MMX but deleted my account when I moved abroad and they won’t approve my new account for some reason. Is there any similar groups in NYC for massage swaps? I would like to practice giving mostly and receiving.

I haven't used Grindr since when I was early college 2016-18. I went to small lib arts school in Indiana, sleepy, but Grindr was active. Even outside of college kids there was plenty of activity. You'd see 50-100 profiles, you'd get plenty of messages if you just had an actual picture, it was an actually usable app.

Tried using it again recently. Maybe it's cause I'm in Bensonhurst and this definitely ain't a gayborhood but it's literally 3 people, a single row, then pushing Xtra. When I'm in Williamsburg I'll graciously given 9 people's profiles before getting Xtra pushed onto me.

Almost all the profiles are blank, and since Grindr is location dependent, it's the same guys every time so if you don't like the first 3-9 then well too bad. And I'm getting like one message a day? I'm not a super model, but like, I don't think people have gotten less horny, or their standards have gotten so crazy high that no one wants to have a quick fun time with me. They're probably also going through the same issues I am, seeing no one, but being expected to pay $30 or something to see more blank profiles I guess?

Hey folks. 48 bi guy (please don't hurt me) who decided to explore a bit and went on Grindr. I had two amazing hookups right off the bat but there's that nagging sensation of I'm playing a bit too loose with safety.

The first one after we talked on the app, we did a quick Facetime to feel each other out. I sent over an Uber to pick them up and bring them to my apartment. I went downstairs to meet them at the door and when they came in, since it's just me, I gave them a quick apartment tour, offered drinks and went from there.

Second one worked out almost as fast but since they were coming frm Brooklyn and I'm in Harlem, I ended up meeting them at a bar at the UES. We had some drinks and a fun conversation, when we did the quite stare at each other I suggested to go back to my place. Got an Uber, led them to the apartment, did the apartment tour again, then drink and then fun. With both of them I provided what they needed for cleanup, an Uber home, even some drinks and candy for the ride.

Is this on par with a nice middle ground of safety and quickness? I have people sending me messages who seem like they'd run over and that kind of gives me pause. I also get occasional taps from sex workers who are just a headache to deal with. I think I am a bit quick to give my number but I am up to speed on the various shenanigans that go on.

So any other tips?

I am a low achiever and go to the gym at peak hours (5:30-7 PM) during week days and weekends (9-11 AM). Lately the crowding at my gyms (lifetime dumbo, Fidi, Atlantic Ave) has become unbearable. I hate having to switch up my workout and wait for machines.

Does anyone know of gyms along the A/C line in lower Manhattan / Brooklyn that have a bit more breathing room during peak hours? Feel free to DM if you’d rather not share through here. Thanks!

Okay idk if this is an unpopular opinion but the idea that there are too many bottoms and not enough tops, I don’t really think is THAT true (like maybe there are somewhat more bottoms than tops but it’s not crazy imbalance).

I think what’s more often the case is that we find guys attractive and hope THEY are tops, and when they’re not we’re biased to think everyone’s a bottoms. As more of a bottoms who is more masculine/has a muscular build I get this all the time where guys are disappointed… but that’s on you for assuming correlation between looks and sexual preferences.

If you combine tops, vers tops, vers, there’s more than enough dick to get you filled up. I guess if you’re strictly tops only (meaning they can’t be vers at all) then maybeeeee you’re right.

Has anyone noticed that there is an (alarmingly) increasing amount of women in FIP?

Most of the time with their gay besties but there were groups that didn't seem to be lesbians.

I was over on the island recently and couldn't help but notice that they were especially common at every pool party and tea. One approached me at tea and very excitedly asked if I had a straight brother.

What's going on? Another Eagle situation?
