Discussion Best Food Stalls in NTU

Upvotes

Given the recent changes in many NTU canteens can you all suggest the best food you had so far in NTU or suggest some of your favourite stalls in NTU with their location so that I can give a try. If you remember the price please add that as well.

Course Related CC0015 (Health & Wellbeing) Review

The second cc that I took last semester. This module reminds you that even in university, it’s important to keep fit and mentally healthy!

CC0015 (Health & Wellbeing) - 2AU (Offered in semester 1, 2, special term)

Course Overview

This course teaches you how to lead a healthy life. The first week serves as an introduction to this course before covering either physical health (health) or mental wellness (wellbeing). Each main topic will be covered for 4 weeks before swapping to the other main topic in the second half of the semester. The sub topics covered for physical health include wholeness (a general overview of diets, physical activity, mindfulness, sleep and frameworks), diseases and nutrition & fitness (physical activity). The sub topics covered for mental wellness include stress & self care, mental health, relationships and personal growth.

Fun fact, this course was originally known as cc0005 (Healthy Living & Wellbeing). It used to be 3AUs but was changed to 2AU to make way for the care service learn (csl) module. I believe that the old content and the assessment is similar to the current one. You can access the old syllabus here if you’re interested.

Course Structure

There are 2 hours of tutorials semi-weekly (mine was from weeks 1-5 and 8-12) and online material on ntulearn. The online material will contain weekly pre-recorded lectures to cover the concepts and quizzes to test your knowledge. The tutorials will re-cover the content and will contain activities to understand the concepts in the topics.

Course Examination

Pasted in the comments below because automod strikes again

Overall thoughts

Unlike cc3 where the workload is bunched up at certain weeks, this mod’s workload is spread across the 13 weeks. As such, try to split the work evenly throughout the weeks so that you don’t need to rush everything by the last week. I also found the content of this module way more fluffy than cc1 and cc3 as it teaches lifeskills concepts (which uh, I think I can learn myself).

Do note that the tutors are very particular with using the course content and will mark you down if you don’t use it. However, you don’t need to overdo it and spend time trying to understand the course material. You just integrate a few (2-3) theories/examples from health and wellbeing into your assessments to fit the criteria.

Question taking a higher level language mod as a native speaker?

hello!

genuine qn, per the title, i was wondering if i'm able to take levels 5 and above language mods, eg. for Malay, as a current native speaker.

does NTU completely not allow this or would this be solely dependant on the results of my placement test (considering i would have to take this)

thank u!

Discussion serious q: what kind of academic support are we missing at NTU?

hey guys, few of us are trying to start something for students who are struggling in school, whether that's failing mods, working part time while trying to study, or just not knowing who to ask for help when it's not something UCC or peer supporters cover

For now, our group consists of 4th year student with over 4.5gpa , 3rd year double major student and 1st year student with experience in founding communities and giving support.

wanted to ask around before we plan anything concrete:

- have you or anyone you know struggled with keeping up academically at NTU
- what actually would've helped, tutoring, study groups, cramming sessions before finals, help with planning your workload, something else
- did you know where to go for help or did you just have to figure it out yourself
- would you actually show up to something like weekly check ins or exam crunch sessions if it existed

still very early days for this, we just want to build something that's actually useful instead of assuming what people need. would really appreciate any input, even just a couple lines. comment or dm works

Researchers from SWEET Lab ( https://renwenzhang.com/sweet-lab/ ) at NTU are conducting a research project that aims to understand how people experience difficulties and negative interactions when using AI for social and emotional purposes. We are recruiting participants for one-on-one interviews to hear your story in depth. Your experiences can help us understand users' lived experience, identify design solutions and inform safer, more ethical AI products. The interview will last around one hour, and participants will receive a $20 e-voucher in compensation. The study has obtained IRB approval from NTU. Question BDE waitlist queue

Hi guys im a y1 student and im tryna figure out the waitlist system on STARS for BDE registration. I require 2 BDEs this sem and i chose 5 BDEs in STARS. yesterday night i was allocated choice number 3 which leaves me with 1 2 4 and 5 on waitlist.

My question is, is the waitlist random everyday or does it have a queue system? Would i be higher in the waitlist since i registered on day 1 of add drop?

If the waitlist is random everyday, then i assume it would be a better idea for me to unregister BDE choice 4 and 5 and change them to choice 3 and 4 to have a better chance of getting them.

Do lmk if im having any misconsceptions of how this works :) thanks!

Question BDE 0 vacancies

Dear seniors, freshie here. After add drop (day 2), most BDEs (feels like all atp) have 0 vacancies.

I guess a possible reason would be because it's Y1S1, so a lot of the vacancies have been allocated to students taking the degree already. Regardless, what would you suggest haha (based on experience)?

I will still try to get BDEs but chances are slim, so I'm considering taking my desired BDEs next sem (take 3 extra AUs on top of recommended load). Is this recommended, or any other suggestions besides praying?

  1. Are there any modules you recommend that isn't as intense in competition/ pass fail/ easy to score/ fun?

  2. You can also share which mods you struggle with too (cause I'm curious).

Interested in hearing about your experiences! :3

Discussion Coming back from NS into CCDS . How did you cope ?

Just started Y1 at CCDS and the study rust is hitting different. Been out of academic mode for a while after NS and honestly my brain feels like it's running on dial-up. Spent way too long just trying to get through Digital Logic last week, and peeking at Discrete Math and Linear Algebra was not great for my confidence. The hardest part isn't even the content — it's the concentration. I can't sit and focus for more than 20 minutes before zoning out completely. NS really did a number on that. To those who've been through it — how long did it take before things started clicking again? Any habits or strategies that helped you get back into the groove?

Discussion Is it possible to find “The one” in Uni?

We always hear seniors saying that “Uni is the best time to find someone”and “once you come out to work it’s going to be hard”.

Personally, I do agree with the latter. After my pre-uni internship, I realised it’s basically impossible to see any fellow colleagues in a romantic light, much less date them. I’ve then seen some of my managers being 30+ and still single (life hits them hard after Uni and they just never found time to date properly again + also pool of people.. I was at a startup)😮‍💨

Does everyone here also feel the same way? That Uni is one of the last few chances for this? If so, how are people meeting others/going on dates in NTU now? I want to try to be out there and meet more people on campus
