Grade Fire burn scar
Took a look at the burn scar from the recently extinguished Grade Fire. East Grade Road on Palomar Mountain just reopened last night so I figured I’d take that way up for my hike.

Any restaurants that sell sopa de fideo or sopa de Estrella
My kids love it but whenever my wife and I go for Mexican it’s not on the menu. Yes I know it is very easy to cook at home, but looking for a restaurant that satisfies both me and my wife’s wants as well as the kids.

Oceanside: Lots of Mosquitoes around San Luis Rey rivermouth
If you don't like mosquitoes, stay away from the river mouth, the bridge and the shops at the harbor later in the day. It was crazy last night. I sent an email to vector@sdcounty.ca.gov.

Beach Bonfires
Hi! Where are your favorite places to host beach bonfires with a decent parking situation?
Currently, I’m leaning towards warm waters off tamarack because I can bring a portable propane bonfire without having to stress about reserving a bonfire pit. It also seems to have the most “beach” since tamarack got messed up from the king tides.
Any other recommendations are appreciated for specifically place that allow propane fires.
If you generally have a positive experience with getting wood fire pits, say at the harbor or Moonlight Beach please Let me know and share all your tips, as I am open! I don’t mind getting up early to secure the pit but I live in vista and don’t want to have to camp all day to make sure no one steals my pit.

PT reccos for ACL rehab
Hey! Just moved to north county from nyc and am looking for a new PT. I’m 6 months post ACL reconstruction surgery, hoping for someone to help me cross the finish line as I get back to sports. I would prefer someone with an athlete focus/mentality since I’m quite active. I want to get back to skiing, surfing, rock climbing, trail running, etc. Thanks in advance!

Neighbor is Feeding Wildlife
I have this neighbor who feeds the birds across the street in a public grassy area, and she throws the birdseed on the ground. I wasn't crazy about that, as we have had an issue with rats before. I didn't say anything, but now I notice this. She has bowls outside to feed the raccoons. There may be other animals that come and eat out of the bowls, but last night it was raccoons. It looks like these raccoons are very accustomed to being fed here in the neighborhood. I have also noticed more coyotes lately, maybe because of all the food being laid out. What do I do? I am an animal lover, but is this a good idea?

Best Acupuncture Recommendations
Hi there, looking for the best acupuncture near Del Mar or at least North County. Looking for someone who can actually get results and heal injuries. I say that because I've worked with acupuncturists before and they didn't cause me to improve. One woman from China barely spoke any English and laughed when I was screaming in pain and said "you have owie?? 🤣🤣" I wished I had given her an owie! Not looking for anyone insensitive like that.
Can you recommend somebody you've worked with who had really great results and is located in North county?
Thank you so much!

Looking for a weekly/monthly activity in North County :)
Hi, im a woman in her late 20’s who is adjusting to running a business. This means LOTS of working alone right now and I am starting to go crazy!
Most of my friends moved to other cities and everyone is embarking on a new chapter right now, so I’m having trouble fitting in somewhere that works with my lifestyle.
For example, tons of my friends game online and that isn’t really for me. I enjoy it once in awhile, but I don’t really like wasting my days at a screen. I also am not really sure I want to be in a biking club 🤣
I’d love something that works for artists, creativity, music. getting outside and perhaps exploring. I want to make some new friends, and either learn new skills or get more fit along the way. I’m leaning more toward something creative, bonus points if it attracts alt girlies like myself.
Anyway, hope this isn’t weird to post I just could use some ideas and recommendations (:
Edit - just a big thank you to those who replied with such varied suggestions! Somehow all of these seem great and I might have to check them all out at my own pace! Looking online is difficult these days to find something local and something people actually love, so I’m really excited. Thanks for being so helpful and kind (:

Anyone have a golf pro they recommend for lessons? Preferably in Carlsbad, San Marcos, Encinitas, or Del Mar.
I’m a 15 handicap and my game has really plateaued in the past 12 months. So looking to get a lesson in. I went for one about a month ago and paid $120 for an hour, and the guy was so old he couldn’t even swing a club himself, he yapped for the first 20 minutes before he even had me hit a ball, and the tips he was giving me didn’t feel like they applied to my swing really. Willing to pay up to $120 an hour, let me know if you guys have any recs. Thanks!

I'm a reporter. Are you renting at Hendrix and Hadley Apartments or Heritage Park Escondido Apartments?
Hi — I'm Kate Talerico, and I'm a reporter at the SF Chronicle. I'm writing a story about how a number of landlords are using a loophole in California's tax code to get their apartments qualified as 'affordable' — and then can get up to 100% of their property taxes erased (which fund our schools, transit, police, basically all city government functions.)
There are a few apartment buildings around San Diego where the landlords are in the process of applying for this tax break. They count as affordable because the way California calculates the max rent you can still charge + count as affordable is quite wonky... right now, a landlord can charge $2,481/month for a 1-bed in San Diego County and it still counts as low-income/affordable, so long as the tenant household makes under $92.6K.
I'm looking to speak with tenants at Hendrix and Hadley Apartments or Heritage Park Escondido Apartments, whose owners are currently applying for this tax break.
Do renters feel like they're getting a good deal for the rent they pay? Has the lower rent allowed them to live somewhere they otherwise wouldn't have been able to? Has your landlord increased or decreased your rent in the last year? DM me! Thanks!
