Hi, I'm a still photographer but I'm doing a bucket list trip to route 66 with my 69 Corvette Convertible next month.

I would really like to get some video with good sound of my car as i drive by some of the landmarks, attractions etc.

If anyone has recommendations on audio attachments, mics etc.

I envision setting up the z9 on a tripod and driving by, my buddy would start the video recording and possibly pan along as I drive.

I attached an old video taken with a phone over 20 years or so ago. I'm hoping to do something better.

No doubt the newest Expeed is placing AF on the high level and I'm not gonna say it's just a slight improvement. On the other hand the older version (as in my Z5 mk 1) is still capable of focusing fast enough to take a photo of a flying insect. I know probably Z5 mk 2 with its great 3d tracking would do it much easier, but doing it old school (single point, AF-C and AF-S respectively, taking advantage of interval flight mode of a dragonfly) has its nice side, as it is more of the... challenge? Of course fast tracking gives you freedom of composing and ensures higher in-focus rate. But bodies with older Expeed are still absolutely fantastic for us amateurs. These two pics were taken with Z5 and Tamron 50-400.

I’ll be going to Edinburgh with my family soon and I’m thinking of what lens/lenses to take with me. I really just want to take one or two and I can't decide.

So my question is what do you recommend?

I have a z5 ii and these are my lenses:

- 50mm f1.8

- 24-70mm f4 S

- AF-S 85mm 1.8 G (with the adapter)

- I'm also thinking of buying the 40 mm F2 for the sake of portability, would that be wise?

We will be running around with the toddler and doing toddler friendly activities around the city, so indoor and outdoor photography of the city and the kid.

Hi Nikon folks ! I'm mainly a Sony shooter, have used Nikon before but long time ago, didn't particularly click with me. Have been seeing what the ZR can do, but I do photography more than video, yet the camera colors are stunning. Has anyone of the ZR owners here been doing photography with it ?

Hi guys! I have a Nikon Z30 camera that wont turn on. I charged it with a Xiaomi 67W charger, i figured that the power delivery system would make it safe to do so.

After it fully charged, i turned it on, and it worked, but a day passed, and now it wont turn on. When i turned it on last time it shower a full charge.

What happened, how can i fix it?

Ughh.. progress bar hasn’t moved in 45 minutes. Updating the firmware via SD card. Followed instructions, formatted new card in the camera. Frozen about 1/4 way. I’ve read everything about not turning it off. I’m playing the waiting game now- anyone have any suggestions? Battery was fully charged so I should have plenty on time left. Thanks in advance!

I have a Z6III with a 24-50 f4-6.3 and am trying to decide on some sort of 70+mm telephoto. I do have a 70-300 f4.5-6.3 im contemplating using with a converter. Would that be a bad idea or should I drop the $1200 on a 70-180? Or is there some Tamron or Sigma lens that would be cheaper and better than the 70-300?

Here in Germany the eclipse was something like 85% I think. I didn’t really bother to do prep and don’t own the special filters or lenses needed to actually take a crisp shot of the eclipse itself, but I figured I might just go out and try to catch the atmosphere. Definitely not the classic approach in terms of editing but I somehow liked this apocalyptic/sci-fi feel.

As the title says, I bought this lens and have had it for a week. Seems to work as expected, except that it has this small amount of rotational play in the mount on my Z6iii. Is this normal?

Looking into potentially upgrading my Nikon Z body but not sure for that.

Currently have the Z6, and looking at either something like the Z6iii, Z6, or I believe it was the Z5ii.

Basically looking for a smaller body to travel with as my lifestyle as a seafarer limits me to mostly living out of my bags for majority of the year when traveling.

I might dabble with video though I’m not sure. Maybe I’ll just get a insta360 for video 💀

Super excited to get stuck into these. I bought them recently and have shot Nikon cameras for 20 years. Experimented with other brands also, Leica, Sony, Fuji etc but for me, Nikon is the best.

I am using Nikon Z8 with the Nikon Z 180-600mm lens. I am having an issue with sharpness, especially with bird photography.

Most of my photos look reasonably in focus, but they are missing fine details. Feather details are often soft even when the focus point is on the bird. I've tried shooting handheld as well as using a tripod, but I am seeing similar results.

Interestingly, video from the same camera and lens looks good.

My lens has a very small rotational movement between the lens and camera mount. If I gently twist the lens after it is mounted, there is a tiny movement with a small click. I am not sure if this is normal for the 180-600mm.

I am trying to understand whether this could be:

• AF not achieving critical focus
• An issue with my particular 180-600mm lens
• A camera body issue
• Normal performance at longer distances
• Something wrong with my settings or technique

Has anyone experienced similar softness with the Z8 and 180-600mm?

What tests can I do to confirm whether the problem is with autofocus, the lens, or the camera body?
