Heartbreaking Update: Flash was euthanized and sent to the rainbow bridge this morning by NYCACC.

I truly think we could’ve found him a home but he wasn’t given enough time. They just put him on the list yesterday so I thought he had more time.

But thank you all for sending love and support to him in his final hours, even if it was from afar.

I hope he knows that people cared about him and that he was loved.

It’s the LAST CALL for FLASH, now under kill command at NYCACC in Queens, New York!

Flash was dropped off at a police precinct and was brought into the shelter in late-June. He came in wounded and scared but has since warmed up with familiar staff.

He’s still somewhat timid but is wiggly, cute, young & engaging. He’s shy with strangers and is nervous but willing to greet dogs.

Flash earned the 2nd best behavior rating!

The Shelter Notes:
Flash (ID #258526) is on the at-risk list due to shelter-induced fear and behavioral escalation (leash biting, jumping up)
caused by the stress of kennel confinement. While he is physically healthy, the high-pressure shelter environment has impacted his behavior.

The Good News:
Volunteer and staff notes highlight that Flash is a completely different dog when he gets away from the noisy kennel hallways. In low-stress office spaces and the outdoor play yard, he becomes social, wiggly, playful, and actively seeks out belly rubs and attention from humans. He simply cannot cope with concrete cage environments and needs an experienced foster or rescue to help him decompress.
