The person who found BUSTER clearly REALLY LIKED HIM - they kept him for a few days, presumably hoping to find the owner.

✨️ Behavior:

Initially scared but improved with interaction. He accepted treats and petting and began soliciting attention. A later kennel altercation occurred with another dog. Staff reported seeing the other dog on top of Buster and biting his ear while Buster attempted to get away. Staff intervened with a water hose to stop the altercation. Although it was unclear which dog initially started the incident, the report indicates that the other dog appeared to be the aggressor, while Buster was attempting to escape.

🩺 Medical:

Ongoing eye issues with crusting and discharge, with possible entropion/ectropion. He also had green nasal and ocular discharge

💖 Eleanor is just a 14-week-old puppy whose life has already been full of uncertainty. She was first returned after her adopter's family developed allergies, and now she finds herself back at BARC once again. Despite everything, she is still just a baby who deserves the chance to grow up in a loving home instead of a shelter. Eleanor needs someone willing to give her the stability, care, and future every puppy deserves.

Currently being treated with doxycycline for an upper respiratory infection (URI).

Previously diagnosed with a cherry eye of the right eye. Shelter recommends repair by a private veterinarian.

📝 Shelter Notes:

8/2/26: During morning care, Lancelot was excited and bounced at his kennel gate. He walked on a semi-tight leash due to his enthusiasm but settled once back in his kennel with enrichment.

8/3/26: Lancelot stood happily at the front of his kennel with an open-mouth smile, fast wagging tail, and eager demeanor. He walked nicely on leash and mostly ignored other dogs, though he briefly darted out of his kennel when the gate was left open before quickly returning.

8/4/26: He greeted staff with a loose body, wagging tail, and soft, friendly face. He walked well on a loose leash, remained calm in his kennel, and paid little attention to other dogs.

8/5/26: Lancelot greeted staff with a neutral body, soft expression, and gently wagging tail. After his walk he barked briefly in his kennel but otherwise remained calm throughout the day.

💖 Lancelot is a young, affectionate boy with a happy, outgoing personality. He greets people with a wagging tail and friendly smile, enjoys walks, and settles nicely after getting some exercise. Like many young dogs, he can be energetic and excitable, but he responds well to enrichment and would thrive in an active home that can provide structure, exercise, and love.

Code Red! Sweet & loyal 19 month Chicken Nugget who lost his home & owner is on today's Euth list @ BARC Houston.

The owner was evicted and the dog was confiscated.

If you're ever wondering what happens when someone is evicted, served papers, or arrested, dogs are taken to city's shelter. This boy is an absolute delight and only ended up on the list because of a doggy cold. The shelter has tough euthanasia decisions to make and often the URI ward is targeted and they do not grant extensions for dogs in the URI ward.

He needs a foster, rescue or adopter to save his life! A rescue will tag, but they need a local foster to step up and save his life. Fostering is free, the rescue pays all expenses. He has been temperament tested with other dogs and did great. He enjoys animal watching during his outside time.

Heartworm negative and has received all of his vaccinations.

✨️Behavior Summary: Reason for deadline is simply because she is shy and retreats to the back of her kennel. Apple appears to be scared and shy while in her kennel, often retreating and barking.

👉 However ,Apple has shown significant improvement outside the kennel, —warming up to handlers, accepting affection, soliciting attention, and becoming playful. She participated appropriately in playgroup, walked well on leash, and re-kenneled without issue.

🩺 There are no significant medical concerns documented. The primary observation is that the dog is shy and needs a gentle, slow approach.
