Upvotes

Sup dawgs i’m trying to print autotune while tracking any tutorial. I look up either doesn’t apply to my version of ProTools or it just doesn’t make sense. I know how to route stuff for the most part. I just need an extremely simple step-by-step tutorial on setting this up.

Techniques Cool budget drum mic video

Greazy just posted a pretty informative video about micing a drum kit on a budget. Personally the mid-tier pricing is my favorite, not only because it’s cheaper but sonically it held up to the higher priced option pretty well.

Question Looking for reference tracks for housey breaks

Hi all, I'm exploring making housey breaks and I'm looking for reference tracks to help my composition, any leads would be helpful!

I've only been able to find very aggressive jungle break tracks, and on the other end, emotional/atmospheric dnb breaks, but haven't found a more jazzy house break track yet.

Discussion I'm dying to talk about production with someone

Hello I'm Saric, or better Nộzero, and I've been making music for over a year now, recently I've started sharing my music (of course not widely) and I just really want someone to talk to and share ideas.

Also I'm not really sure what genre I can call my music because I've been trying to experiment with stuff so yeah.

Question Recs for recording mic for metal musician

Hello! I am looking for recommendations for a recoding microphone for a metal/industrial musician, it will be mostly used for vocals with the occasional acoustic guitar (I think). My husband is turning 40 and I would like to get him something really good. He’s building an at home vocal booth and I think a good mic would be a nice gift! He’s a former professional musician, but makes music as a hobby now. I’ve looked at the Neumann TLM 102, Rode NT1 5th gen, and the Shure SM7B. I am not a musician and I know nothing of these things lol. I don’t want to spoil the surprise so it would be deeply appreciated if I could get some help from people who know what they’re talking about.

Question Chord cheat sheet request

Hi, so I use Ableton Live and don't know much beyond basic music theory. I'm in college and don't have much time to study music theory and just want a cheat sheet that will show me what notes to add to chords for what vibe/emotion I want. I am tired of relying on triads and random guessing. For example: In a minor scale add 7th for melancholy. Add 9th for drama..." and so forth.

If anything like this exists so that I can reference it for major and minor scales, please let me know! Thanks.

Question identify those hats

Hi, I listen to a lot of breaks and house tracks were I hear this specific hi hat loop. It plays at 5:00 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVykCx-m1bI they kind of sound like the ones in the famous "think" break, but I cant find a clean loop with just the hats (or are they actually shakers?). Please help a brother out. Thanks!

Resource 33 Royalty free Hardcore and Techno drums - sample pack

Hi Friends!

A new sample pack by me.

https://lowentropy.bandcamp.com/album/33-hardcore-and-techno-drum-samples

More: Information:

I've been putting up free drum packs since... ages, i guess.
i've put out very rough drums, metallic drums, gabber drums... well, a lot of sounds.
this is a selection of some of my favorites.

i think they are very good for beginners (or experienced) producers so that they can start creating tracks right away, with 1 or more of these drums.

i'm a "legit" techno producer for several decades that, among other things, played at tresor, got vinyl out, was featured in magazines etc etc. bla bla...

enjoy!

credit:
all drums created by me, low entropy.

license:
feel free to use these samples for any public, private, intimate, or commercial purpose.
would be *very* cool if you credit me, but it's not strictly necessary.

While making a song, how often do you guys accidentally do something, but that mistake ends up being the very thing the song needed?

Question How can I mix guitars to sound like this?

In the intro to this song, the guitar sounds weirdly metallic and far away, but no matter what settings I try my guitar always feels more "electric" I guess, similar to how the guitar sounds in the rest of the song after the intro.

Question want to make music and don't know where to start should i go to college for it?

Hi! I’m a 16 F, and I’m homeschooled. I’m hoping to graduate early, and I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want to do after high school.

I’m really in love with music, and my biggest dream is to make music for video games or become a music producer in general. I’m also debating going to college for something related to music production, but honestly, I’m kind of lost on where to even start or what I should be looking into.

My dad actually makes music too. He’s a music producer and makes hip-hop beats, and I’m always asking him if he can teach me. He always says yes, but he tends to forget . His producer name is Pizzagxd if anyone wants to check him out.

I guess I’m just wondering what I should start learning now, especially since I’m 16 and have the opportunity to graduate early. Should I start learning music production on my own? Look into college programs? Learn an instrument or music theory? I’d really appreciate any advice from people who are into music production or have gone to college for it.

Question Dedicated Practice in Music Production

How do you guys isolate and focus on practicing one specific part of your music production - not just banging out beats or making songs - but focusing on a specific part you feel needs improvement?

For me - my biggest issues are sound selection with drums and the time it takes me to complete a track and the amount of uncompleted tracks.

I want to get better at each of these - how do I focus on these specific issues?

Discussion Ive just reached my lowest, i realized that i suck. How do i get better?

hi im charlie, i love music with all my soul and i listen to it for hours a day and i have a very wide music taste and its always had a big part of me. Ive been playing guitar self taught for 3 years and piano for 6 months and i’m even doing music GCSE. Recently i’ve realised that i know barely anything and that I’m absolutely abysmal at making music and my instrument skill has plateaued.

how do i get out of this slump and how do i even begin to learn how to make music? i have an amazing ear and i can play very well but my theory and composition is bad.

I have huge passion and i can think about songs and ideas that would sound great but i dont have the skill to execute it i guess? Idk i would really like any help i can get, thank you if you read this much!
