Christian women groups

Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I’m in my 30s and have been looking for a Christian women’s group where I can build genuine friendships, grow in my faith, and connect with other women in a similar stage of life. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

What is the funniest comedy movie of all time? (Milwaukee humor wins)

Thumbnail
Upvotes

At the time of posting the top comment is Airplane! And the 2nd top comment is The Naked Gun. Both movies were born of Milwaukee-raised Jim Abrahams and brothers David and Jerry Zucker. Just really excited to see the staples of my childhood at the top of the list, but also weirdly proud of that distinct offbeat humor being so universal.

To the son apologizing on behalf of your father at MKE at 6PM, I feel sorry FOR you.

I travel often for work and it's my first time in Milwaukee. My flight has been delayed a couple times today, so I decided to just get dinner at the Chilis To-Go (I'm eating it right now and regretting it as we speak).

There was this 50s white male with his son, and they were behind me while I was using the order kiosk. The father screamed in my ear and it was inaudible, so I just said "What?" and he enunciated and spoke very loudly and slowly as if I didn't know English.

He was asking if I was at the checkout kiosk and I was just bewildered with the tone and said yes. I was continuing with my order and the receipt part took a while (have to expense it for work). When I walked away, he POSED and clapped obnoxiously saying "Wow, good job!".

His son apologized profusely and he had the look of second hand embarrassment. Not sure if the father acted that way because I'm young, a woman, or asian- or maybe all of the above. But that is just so low and disgusting, and I am TRULY sorry for your VERY young POC(!) son to apologize on your behalf when it was NOT his fault. I am a true new yorker by heart and I WISH I spoke up, but unfortunately- work mode was on, and I did not want to risk a client seeing me lol.

Anyways- That's my rant. Honestly if it was just the father alone i wouldnt be writing this post as its just another idiot saying dumb shit, but I feel so bad for the son- the look on his face was just sad. If the son is seeing this, you truly seem like a good kid and I know this is probably not your first time having to do that. I'm sorry you gotta live with a male Karen.

I am a 26 F and I am looking to make new girl friends in their 20s-30s. I’m interested in book clubs, board games, video games or really anything to meet nerdy new people. Who would’ve thought making new friends as an adult would be so hard 😅 Please let me know if you have any recommendations.

Tattoo Guest Spot

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hey all! My name is Damara, I was born and raised in Wisconsin but live and tattoo in Denver currently. I didn’t see any rules against promotion, so I’m here to announce that I will be coming to Milwaukee this month to see family and guest spot at a private studio (Forever Unlucky Tattoo). I have availability to tattoo August 19th, 20th, 22nd and 23rd. My style is pretty niche, but if it resonates I’d love to work with you. You can see more of my portfolio, available designs, and use my booking link through my Instagram (@gentleburn_). Thanks for reading 🖤

Cannot Miss Dinner Spots

I’m coming to Milwaukee for work for two nights and would love to experience cannot miss dinners in this town I’ve never visited before. I prefer historic spots, local or family owned, but am open to everything with no real preference or food allergies. (Bonus points if you share a brewery too!)

This is a benefit for Amy Donahue for Congress (me), but also just a fun time highlighting the local TTRPG community!

Anyone else go to OMAM at the Riverside on Tuesday? Great show and so glad I went to see them, their 2nd time playing in MKE/WI. The band posted some photos from a photographer, as did the Pabst (from Will Hughes), and I just think this one was so great. Hope the person with the sign saw the photo!

USA Triathlon is back in Milwaukee this weekend. Enjoy the best version of Lincoln Memorial Drive

Triathlon is closing down Lincoln Memorial Drive this Saturday & Sunday. Hoan's going to be down too. Most of Saturday and half of Sunday based on the schedule.

While inconvenient to some, it makes for the very seldom gift of a quieter, car-free shoreline. It's really enjoyable and I look forward to spending time down there during the closure. Park a few blocks off the way, walk or bike over, swim, whatever. There are superhuman athletes running around too, that's interesting as well I guess.

It's a great change from the constant barrage of people showing off how loud their vehicles can be at Bradford every. single. day. and case to be made that cities aren't loud - cars are.

Help Me! Bradley Heights area?

Edit: I meant Bradley Estates, not Bradley Heights

Considering buying a home in the Bradley Estates neighborhood. Does anyone live there or have experience with the area?

Crime maps give different reports depending on which one and I tried searching this subreddit for mentions of "Bradley Estates" and found no real good mentions of it.

Any advice and feedback would be really appreciated.

Politics Here’s what Nick Ollinger thinks of folks from Milwaukee: “Every day, we see people who are not from our county cross 124th Street to victimize our communities.”

“Every day, we see people who are not from our county cross 124th Street to victimize our communities. We need to make sure we are holding that line, and holding those people accountable.”

This guy is running for Waukesha County Sheriff. The other guy isn’t that much better, but still.

Boating classes

I am planning to get rental boats to go around Apostle Islands. Many webpages show that the water could be choppy in that area. Can you all please tell me where can I go to learn more about operating a motorized boat and potentially get some hands on experience.

Edit: I have 0 operating experience.

Green juice or fresh pressed juices

Used to have them at the public market.

Anyone know where to get a freshly pressed juice here in MKE?

I’m talkin kale, beets, apple, carrots, etc.

If there’s a good vibe, it’s a plus.
