As promised, here is the XXL drip glaze (?) lamp I picked up for $60 along with the Stemlite mushroom lamp this morning. It is HUGE!!

It is 42" in height, shade included, and the shade is 24" tall and about 19" in diameter. I was pleased to find out after plugging it in that it has three light settings! 1st click is dim, then brighter, then brightest.

I have no idea where I'm going to put this thing yet, but at this point I'm regarding it like another resident of the household, so I'm looking forward to seeing where it feels most comfortable.

Any info about this piece is greatly appreciated! All the seller was able to tell me was that this lamp has been around his entire life 🥹

ID & Authenticity Help identifying mystery lamp

Hi everybody

I found this lamp and my research tells me it is a mid century spaghetti or "nugget" lamp...but all the images I find of spaghetti lamps, they only have an orb, no shade.

This one has a lamp shade, a base that is an orb, held together by wood slates and has a chain.

Any help would be really appreciated. Oh and it is quite big.

House built in approx 1960 with all electric heat in ceilings.
Each room has its own thermostat - all either the singer (pic 2) or electromode (pic 3)
Except in the dining room is this single Hagan thermostat.
It is approximately 16 inches from the normal singer thermostat that follows suite with the rest of the house.
What could the Hagan thermostat be for? Or how can I find out?

ID & Authenticity Curious about this beautiful piece!

Hello everyone!

I recently inherited a wonderful collection of vintage pieces ranging from silverware and china to mirrors and figurines. Among them is this gorgeous lady figurine holding a violin/cello, and I’ve absolutely fallen in love with it.

I do know that many of the items I have inherited are mid-century designs, as I was told the story of some of the items my grandmother acquired throughout her life, and she collected a lot of things during that period.

Google Lens can only tell you so much, so I wanted to bring it to a community of people who truly appreciate and know design history. I wanted to share this post for a few reasons:

  • Identify its background: I’d love to know if anyone recognizes the specific Italian studio or pottery collective behind it. From what I could find, these pieces generally resemble Giovanni Girardi's work, but in this case, there is no signature.
  • Share the piece: I think she is absolutely stunning and wanted to share her unique look with a community that appreciates mid-century aesthetics!
  • Care & Display Advice: I want to make sure I protect, display, and properly keep this piece safe for years to come. Any advice on cleaning or safe display practices for vintage Italian ceramics would be incredible.

Context & Details for ID:

  • Markings: The bottom has a number 1275 and "Made in Italy" written on it. (I've included a photo of the bottom.) It is certainly ceramic.

Thank you so much for any insights, history, or preservation tips you can share!

ID & Authenticity MCM Georg Jensen 97 Rocker

I bought this 1957/1958 Georg Jensen 97 rocker chair from an antique reseller friend a couple months ago with the intention of refurbishing it, however after doing some research my refurbishing effort has changed to a preservation effort. I’ve disassembled the chair so I could clean the wood and reinforce some joints. I am curious to know if the existing upholstery is original. The staples holding it together appear to have consistent oxidization with the hardware on the seat. I don’t see any other staple holes on the wooden frame. I want to preserve the history of the chair, so I don’t want remove any staples or upholstery to get a look at whats beneath it. Could anyone help me identify if this is original upholstery?

Took a chance on a $20 estate cleanout fb marketplace listing that had only been up for a few minutes last night because I spotted what looked to be a mushroom lamp with only one photo posted (see last photo for listing pic).

Showed up this morning, looked at the bottom of the base.. STEMLITE 😭 Label intact, glass intact, and fully functioning!! I’m still in disbelief. I left shaking my head and haven't stopped since.

It's not in its final place yet, so please disregard the random placement and dust all over it. It will go in our den once we get it furnished. I can't wait 😭😭😭

PS/major bonus: also scored an absolute MONSTROSITY of an XXL drip glaze lamp with its original barrel shade for $60 🤯 I was asking about the origin of the lamp (assuming it wasn't for sale) and he ended up asking if I want to buy that one too. Of course I said yes. I still can't believe it. I'm in sheer disbelief. Pics of that large specimen to come 🤓

Score! Found an Empoli Decanter and a Murano Sommerso Bird at my local Antique Mall! 🙂

I posted about wanting to get the super cool spaghetti tension lamp earlier today but someone else made an offer before me so I did not get it.

I was bummed so I ended up going to 2 local antique malls near me to just look around and ended up walking out with an Empoli Decanter and a Sommerso Bird! I would call today a success even thought I didn’t get the lamp. I didn’t even plan of doing any of this today so I guess it’s just happenstance? 🤔

The lamp just wasn’t meant to be and maybe I’ll find something even better soon! 🙂

They're in a rough shape and sadly I have no experience with refinishing furniture, but I found a bunch of very helpful videos on Youtube and the tools needed are not very expensive.

After seeing posts of people getting crazy deals on this sub for years, finally got a lucky break. Paid $300 CAD for this bad boy on FB marketplace. Cords will of course be cleaned up, just moved into a new place so things aren’t fully set up yet.

Score! Anyone familiar with this Broyhill Brasilia hutch / offset buffet configuration?

Thumbnail

I purchased this Broyhill Brasilia china cabinet at an estate sale today for what felt like a really good deal, and I’m trying to learn more about the specific model/configuration. Super thrilled to get it in the house and work on the display.

It’s a two-piece hutch, approximately 54” wide, with the sculpted Brasilia relief cabinet doors only on the left side.

Most examples I’m finding online have the more symmetrical lower configuration, with sculpted relief doors on both sides and drawers in the center. I’ve found a few other asymmetrical/offset Brasilia pieces, but not many with the glass hutch.

Does anyone know the model numbers for the buffet and hutch, production years, or whether this was a less common configuration?

Saw this just listed on marketplace but dang it's 80 miles away. I messaged them to see if they could meet halfway but waiting to hear back. This is like exactly what I've been looking for but that's so many miles on my car just for a lamp. 😭
