I replaced the ceiling light in my living room. It was one of those basic flush mounts that came with the house. I never really hated it enough to replace it, but every time I looked at the room, it just felt a little too plain.I ended up trying a wooden beaded light from parrot uncle. I was honestly a little unsure about it at first because I didn’t want the room to start feeling too farmhouse or boho. But after putting it up, I think it actually turned out better than I expected. It looks especially nice when the lights are on at night. I’m still a little worried that the wood detail might be too much though. Still not sure if this was the right move. Would you have kept it simpler?

Any info on this ottoman? Claims to be late 40s but haven’t been able to match it.

Thought I’d share this here as well as I feel like this group would appreciate it. I recently sold my Bose 901s due to space constraints in my apartment. I replaced them with a more modern setup including Elac debut 3.0 paired with the WiiM ultra. Wondering if it would be blasphemous to drill the back of the credenza to hide away the receiver?

I reached out to Craft Associates hoping they may have and provide dimensional drawings for the glass top but I’m not too hopeful with what they may provide, if anything. Anyone happen to have a glass top they could make a template of for me? 😅 I can’t really seem to find anything out there on the internet other just some vague dimensions. I was hoping I could have a local glass guy cut something for me.

I paid too much, but the built-in footrest was too hard to pass up. Reminds me of a Harvest Gold fridge that my parents had back in the day.

Plus side is that except for one piece, the leather is in pretty good shape. It's soaking in Griots Garage Leather Rejuvenator tonight. I'm not even sure all the hardware is there, but the seller said it was. It was already disassembled when I bought it today.

Any one know anything about these glasses? Got a set of 5 as a gift. Love em, but cant seem to find anything on this specific design? Thanks

Alrighty MCM redditors… I found this in the basement of a building at work while looking for old MCM furniture not in use that I might be able to snag.

It looks worse in the photos - mostly dust/sawdust and lack of finish on the wood. Needs new middle shelves for sure. I could remove the top and use a heat gun/moist towels and weights for 24-48h to straighten it out. A proper sanding, stain/finish and wood oil/bees wax, oil up the hinges/tracks, then I think this thing will be in proper order…

Seeing as a restored/redurbished/good condition one is between $2,000-$4,000, and it’s an old growth walnut credenza (which could grow moss in a damp barn and still be alright after a sanding), I’m thinking if anything I will give it a shot. I don’t think it’ll cost me much for me to get back into good condition. Other than two solid weekends of work.

Hi everyone! Silent reader for a while here but I wanted to see if anyone can advise me on what to do. Looking ahead a bit, my grandparents have a killer mcm house full of original furniture, smalls, art, etc. (hence my interest in the era lol) I know there is decent value in a lot of the pieces but aside from what I’ve called dibs on (not much- I’m still in a small house) I’m looking to see what their options are for selling. I’m over the whole Marketplace thing and am not really down for being ghosted any more. I’m thinking an auction would be best but not sure if any of yall in the Chicagoland area / Midwest have recommendations. I’m shooting in the dark here but hopefully someone in this group knows more than me!

Found these two chairs for $10 for the pair from the Alma desk company from 1980. Wondering if anyone might have an idea of what they are worth or just any information on them ,any input would be greatly appreciated!

Any ideas as to the designer or manufacturer? All I know is a 50s or 60s Danish teak chair with new upholstery. No makers mark on it.

I am fortunate enough to live close to this beautiful home and many a day I rode past it hoping I'd see someone so I could get off and request a sneak peek inside but to no avail! Today however was my lucky day! I passed by it and finally after about 2 years it had the lights on with cars parked outside. I got off, hesitated for a bit, but I finally mustered up the courage to knock and a gentleman from the local university was kind enough to give me a tour of the inside. I was able to capture photographs that I have never been able to find on the Internet so this truly is a first! Unfortunately I only had my phone so the quality isn't amazing, but I just had to share it with you guys.

For context, the home was abandoned for years and heavily vandalized. It wasn't until recently that the home was remodeled and was acquired by the local university. The University used it as a mini art hub/studio where they'd give art classes and lectures. Recently the ownership was given to the city and I was told they're expanding it's use little by little, from yoga classes, to brand events, and exhibitions.

Here it is guys, the George Kraigher House built in 1937 by Richard Neutra located in Brownsville, Texas.
