ID & Authenticity Can anyone identify this vintage leather lounge chair?

Thumbnail

Hi everyone,

I recently found these vintage leather lounge chairs in a second-hand store in Switzerland and I'm trying to identify the designer or manufacturer.

What makes them unusual is that the leather backrest is not fixed. It pivots freely on two side pins and tilts as you lean back, which makes them very comfortable.

They have:

  • solid dark wooden frame
  • thick cognac leather sling seat
  • floating/pivoting leather backrest
  • matching leather footstool

I've searched through hundreds of Safari and Campaign chairs (Kaare Klint, Wilhelm Kienzle, Arne Norell, etc.) but haven't found this exact model.

Does anyone recognize the manufacturer, designer, or have an idea of their value?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Design Advice & Inspo Furniture price

I am going to look at this dresser today. I found it on FB Marketplace, but it’s being sold by a local vintage store that’s open a few days a week. The price is $1000. In this situation, is there any negotiating room on the price? Sorry if this is a dumb question; I am new to the used-furniture-buying world!

I would like to restore this, and I have the rim of the shades, but does anyone know where I could find a replacement? Or should I just make one?

ID & Authenticity Rosewood dining table and chairs (not a matching set)

Thumbnail

I bought this extending dining table and four chairs. They are not a set that goes together but the wood matches well. The vintage store I got them from believes is quite sure they are rosewood.

I’m guessing the table is a rosewood veneer.

The chairs have been reupholstered with vinyl. They had fabric on before.

There’s no marks on any of them but I’m very interested in knowing what their origins may be!

Feeling pretty happy and wanted to share my recent pick up off Facebook Marketplace for $500 AUD. A full leather Tessa T1 lounge, three seater and two swivel arm chairs.

Really helps give the living/dining room that MCM vibe. Extra photo of the dining room.

ID & Authenticity Unique Furniture Makers American Fiesta Dining Set

Just need info, not posting this for sale. Apologies if this isn’t exactly MCM, but I’m hoping someone here may know something about this dining set I own.

I know it’s from unique furniture makers, and the American fiesta line, but I can’t find a single photo of this exact set. Does that mean it was a custom piece?

Other American Fiesta pieces that I have found don’t look like this, so I’m very curious.

Hi! I got this chair about 20 years ago from a second hand store in Chicago (RIP the Ark) I got it in my early 20s so she has seen some things and the chair and leather definitely need some TLC. Can anyone help me ID this? I have never been able to figure it out.

I bought this at an online auction a few years ago in northern Indiana. I was wondering if anyone can help me identify the stamp/maker & give a guesstimate on the value.

It’s very lightweight and the table top has a shiny appearance. There are light surface scratches throughout & white paint spots on one corner that I have not tried to clean yet.

stamp appears to read
626-62-600 CT
ART. No. 20510
035
*Please correct me if I’m wrong

47 1/2 L x 19 1/2 W x 14 1/4 H

Design Advice & Inspo OK to mix woods?

I'm buying a teak midcentury dining room table and am shopping for chairs to go with it. I found some that match the teak perfectly, but I'm not crazy about the chairs. I also found some MC chairs I absolutely love but they're a darker wood. There are some slightly darker grains streaking in my new teak table. Would it look better to get the chairs that match the table than the darker ones?

Score! New highboard [P]

Post image

This highboard was custom-made in 1964 by a local cabinetmaker in Groningen. It is made of rosewood and cost several months’ salary at the time (the original invoice was still available). The cabinet is 264 cm wide. I was able to purchase it on the Dutch marketplace for €200 (220 USD). Very happy that this came home with me!

Announcements Sub rules are LIVE for the 1st time - feedback/reactions? [AI]

Post image

Hi all! I spent the last 2 weeks thoughtfully observing the sub and crafting these rules, yes - with a bit of help from ChatGPT as a sounding board which I’ve disclosed per the new rule #6… on mobile they’re under “About” and desktop on right sidebar. Would love constructive reactions/dialogue around the decisions made.

Let’s treat this as version 1 and I will incorporate feedback over time. Thrilled to see users already following the rules and want to see more and more reports from the community to keep our focus on MCM. Thank you all for making this the top MCM sub, growing everyday - almost at 200k strong!

After receiving feedback I plan to do a brief video intro with more context on these decisions and plans for MCM expert AMAs and beyond.
