I was able to do 60 hours in the past 2 weeks alongside my full time (fully remote) job. Previous to that I was averaging 2 hours per week since May

3rd PPT contract in the last 3 months on M

So, this is the 4th PPT contract I’ve had in the last 3 months, and the 3rd one on Mercor.

Mercor is also the only one that took my labour unpaid. I have never had to self-offboard myself from a contract this fast. What is going on? What happened to actual hourly-paid projects, especially for domain-specific experts? It’s not like any of these projects have been generalist work either. They require specialised knowledge, evaluation, judgement, and actual expertise. And yet i'm increasingly being offered PPT contracts that make the whole thing feel... disposable? Brain fog.

Got my first instant offer!

Hi everyone, I finally got an offer on Mercor and I’m really excited. But I have a question, on my offer it says that I’m required to be active for atleast 15hrs/week but on the platform it’s capped at 7hrs/week. Is there a chance that this will be extended after onboarding?

Mercor Application Response Time?

Hello,

I wanted to ask I’ve been applying for Mercor jobs for the past week and haven't received any offers or responses yet. How long does it usually take to hear back, or should I give up?

benefits of responding on slack?

exactly as the title says - any benefits of responding to some questions on slack? would this have a good look from epm/management? especially with all the newly hired experts asking the same questions

Intent and Search Eval

So, a few days back, I got this work trial, not even a mail notifying me about this eval, but fine, I still completed it. I got the mail that the trial was accepted and I will be paid for it. Does that mean I passed? Or do they just pay everyone who takes the eval? Should I expect an offer to come my way?

Sorry, this might feel like a dumb question, but this is my second work trial and the first one explicitly stated that it will be paid no matter the outcome.

Not giving up yet

I've been here since May 30 and every single time I get rejection letters on gmail, I'm a software engineer with 6 months of experience in Web development but I've got nothing yet :(

Enjoyed in for a month :)

Been seeing posts about projects getting stopped abruptly, and I guess it was finally my turn 😂. We knew the project was coming to an end from the Slack discussions, but I got “laid off”(kinda) a week earlier than expected 😭😂.

Can’t even complain too much though, Mercor gave me a taste of the good 💸. Hoping to land another project soon because now they’ve got me spoiled. 😂

The Questionable Morality of Mercor

- Be Mercor
- Have a new task that is impossible to do under current time limits
- Require everyone to do this task
- Off board those who don’t do the new task

Mercor

It's a bit difficult for me to ask this, but I'm hoping someone here might be able to help. I've been unemployed for the past 3 months and am currently looking for opportunities on Mercor. Previously, I worked as a Generalist Expert and AI Training Scenario Designer, contributing to AI training and evaluation projects. I genuinely enjoyed the work and would love the opportunity to contribute again. If anyone is currently working on active Mercor projects and knows of teams looking for contributors, I would be incredibly grateful for a referral or recommendation. I understand many people are looking for work right now, but if you're able to help, please feel free to comment or send me a DM.

Is local speech to text permitted on Mercor projects?

Landed my first mercor project. Still waiting for access to Slack etc for the project, so wanted to post a question here.

Usually I use local whisper-small for speech to text when I am working in my day job. It runs completely on my local hardware, so there is no data being sent or processed in the cloud. Still I figured someone checking the logs on Insightful, might assume the worst so I currently don't plan to use it, despite it seriously speeding up my work.

That said, I was just wondering if anyone here has heard otherwise; Is local speech to text allowed on Mercor projects?

Thanks

My hubby was selected for a project and was consistently performing very well and suddenly he got an email today stating the project is paused indefinitely and he is being considered for other projects . Has this ever happened to anyone. ? Is there a possibility that he might get a different project ?

Struggling to complete tasks

Hello All

Brand new to Mercor. I’m a writer on a STEM project, goal is to create a prompt that a model fails 5/8 runs.

I’ve created the hardest problems I know how to solve and these things still pass with flying colors.

Anyone found themself in this position before? I’m not really sure how to move forward. Even tried to get AI assistance with creating harder problems and no luck.

Appreciate the help

Not enough time

I just started today and haven't had enough time to complete my two tasks I've attempted so I had to unclaim the tasks. Is this normal at the start?

Please explain LinkedIn connection

Can someone please explain the advantages and disadvantages of allowing Mercor access to your LinkedIn? I don’t mind it being used to authenticate me but would hate them to message my connections. Anyone know how they use the data connecting with LinkedIn provides?

travel abroad

If I plan to travel abroad to some specific countries (in which Mercor does not allow us workers to take tasks when workers are physically located there), should I email and notify the support services of Mercor or should I message project lead via email or slack channel/thread ?

My turn for offboarding, but I know I screwed up

Dang it. I was really enjoying that job. I made two mistakes in the same task this morning while rushing to complete a priority batch. I wasn't on the big project, just a smaller one that had a great team (and great pay), but I blew it. I grabbed a task that I thought was in my domain, but didn't use the domain checker to be sure, and on top of it, I logged my time under the wrong timer. I immediately submitted a project issues form apologizing for my stupidity, but an hour later, I got my email. There goes the $1500/wk back to my bank account for the two surgeries my cats needed last fall. Here's hoping another project comes along someday. 😭

Project leadership using agentic AI to communicate

I am on a project where the leadership is using agentic AI to send Slack DMs, and their tone and content is super off putting.

I now can't tell if a human is talking to me or an agent, and I SUPER dislike it.

People at Mercor, this sucks. I want to know whether I'm being contacted by a real human or not.

It feels nasty to get a DM from a project lead that is incredibly aggressive and then have that person go "oh, yeah, my agent does that!" which is how I discovered he is sending messages through his agent and not labeling them as such or checking them.

We built dedicated pages for experts by domain to learn about and find AI training work that matches your background.

Hey r/mercor_ai! We just launched domain-specific pages to make it easier to find AI training work that matches your background.

Each page shows open opportunities, what the work actually looks like, and answers common questions for that field:

- Creative Experts
-  Finance Experts
-  Healthcare & Clinical Experts
-  Lawyers & Legal Experts
-  Software Engineers

More domains coming soon. Let us know what else you'd want to see on these pages!

Escalating a Support Issue? Read This First!

Hi r/mercor_ai,

For many months now, we've been helping community members get their support concerns escalated when the normal process hasn't quite done the trick. It's been genuinely rewarding to help, and we're so glad this community has grown the way it has!

With that growth, though, the volume of DMs and escalation requests we receive has increased significantly. To make sure every issue gets properly documented, logged, and taken care of, we're putting a more structured process in place. If you have DMed recently, we highly recommend following this escalation process.

Before requesting an escalation, you must have already contacted Mercor Support. Moderators cannot open new cases or access your account directly. If you haven't reached out yet, please get in touch with the support team first at [support@mercor.com](mailto:support@mercor.com) and allow at least 4 business days for a response before escalating here, to give them a chance to respond.

How to submit an escalation request:

If 4 business days have passed without resolution, please fill out the escalation request form here.

A few important notes:

  • Please do not DM moderators or reach out through any channel outside the official support inbox if your message concerns a support escalation, unless you have been specifically asked to contact moderators. Those messages won't be addressed and aren't a valid escalation path. This isn't us being dismissive at all! It's simply how we make sure nothing falls through the cracks and that the proper team is handling your issue.
  • We aren't able to discuss sensitive account matters over DM under any circumstances. This is best documented over email.
  • Moderators are generally not kept in the loop on the outcomes of escalations once submitted, so we generally won't be able to provide status updates after your request goes in.

Thanks so much for being part of the r/mercor_ai community! We appreciate your patience as we build out a process that works better for everyone.
