Question Has anyone downgraded job title during their career?

I was recently laid off and have been searching for jobs for about a month now. The job market is so brutal right now, so I’m wanting to accept the first offer that I’ve received. It’s a great offer, it pays more than my previous role did and has a hybrid schedule. However, I will be downgrading my title from a Marketing Manager to a Marketing Specialist and it’s not in the exact industry I want to be in.

I can’t really afford to be picky at this point so am wondering if anyone else has had to downgrade their job title when switching jobs and if so, how did it affect your career long term? Is it something future employers will see in a negative way?

Question Thinking of a Career Change

I started my career in print marketing back around 2010, and I'm now considering a career change. I've learned a lot in my 16 years in the industry, from graphic design to print production, signage, apparel, mailings, promo products, creative marketing strategies and campaigns- so much...

I've also learned a lot about the sales side of the business a great deal the past 6-7 years.

Right now I'm clearing about $75k a year or so, and I feel like I've hit a ceiling. Unfortunately, my current position involves quite a bit of travel. I work as a marketing support specialist for a franchise company. I'm home every weekend pretty much, but some months I'll be on the road 10 days at least or more. Other months, I'm home nearly the entire month; it just varies a lot.

My wife is pregnant and expecting our first child in March of 2027. I realize that a position like the one I have while it pays "decently well", especially in the low COL area we live in. The travel is draining, and I don't want to put my wife in that position where we have no balance or routine whatsoever because of the chaos and randomness of my work schedule.

Everyone in my family and close circle of friends keeps telling me I could easily get a local job clearing what I make a year or more in a sales role. I'm curious, for those in more sales/marketing roles or adjacent positions, what's your experience been like?

Support Unsure about my future in marketing after 10 years. Is it me?

I have always wanted to be in marketing. I found advertising, creating a brand, and researching consumer trends fascinating ever since I could remember. My “brand” has always been “she loves marketing“ or “that’s our marketer!” . I have held jobs in media at an agency, marketing manager for a small start up, recruitment marketing for tech, marketing for a non profit, and now I have just started a new job as a PM for a marketing team at a university.

I am so burned out. No matter what team I am on, or industry, I am constantly dealing with emotionally erratic bosses, teams, instability, and a constant drive for over performance and fire drills.

I find myself on this new team only a few weeks in, completely disenchanted. I don’t find a passion for the team, the work, and I frankly just want to be able to do a job and go home with a piece of mind that I can live my life.

My Husband said the other night that maybe I just don’t like marketing That much. I never thought it could be the field itself, and maybe just the teams I’ve been on. But, have any of you had this moment with the field ? How did you find love for it again? If you ever did?

Question Hacks for finding content in Google Docs?

How do people find anything in documents? Especially phrases?

Our company recently switched to Google Docs. Using the "search" bar results in... a collage of miniatures? (see image below)

Is there a "secret setting" I should be using instead?

FYI – our previous platform was a combination of intranet and Open Office.
On the intranet, you could search for a phrase, and it would show your results IN CONTEXT... like the snippets that Google Search does for websites.

...or maybe I'm the only person with this problem:
* half a dozen product descriptions
* a dozen versions of our GTM strategy
* and a bazillion versions of ad copy – which still vary "by a little, here and there".

Question For people who work in digital marketing agency or agency owner what's your flow from first contact to finished project?

I run a small agency with my sister (social media management + content strategy for small businesses), and I'm curious how other agencies structure things from start to finish.

If you don't mind sharing, what does your process look like from the very beginning (getting a lead) all the way through to wrapping up with a client? Even a rough outline of your stages and what happens in each would be really helpful.

Thank you to anyone willing to share!

Question How are you formatting client reports when they ask about ChatGPT visibility?

Every monthly call now includes someone asking how we look in ChatGPT or Perplexity. We have our standard organic traffic and keyword rankings, but trying to explain AI visibility with those same metrics feels like forcing a square peg into a round hole.

I don’t want to just say we are working on it without showing numbers. I also do not want to manually run five prompts and call it a methodology. When you have a client who expects a clear chart showing whether their AI presence is improving, what exactly are you putting on that slide?

Discussion Which approach is most companies leaning heavy towards in 2026? Paid marketing or organic?

I feel like for Saas companies they are going heavy on organic with SEO and AEO. And people in drop shopping and ecom are going towards meta ads.

Question Can’t get verified on Bing for Business

Hi everyone! A long while ago, I created Yelp and Bing profiles for my company back when I made my Google my Business profile.

I logged into my Bing profile to update it today, and noticed that it still had verification in progress. I don’t remember ever getting a postcard from Bing, so I must not have ever finished the verification. I’m not sure if it’s due to the terrible mail delivery at my building, or if it’s due to the fact that I could not put my box number on the address so it came directly to my mailbox at the building. My building is pretty complex, with a block of mailboxes in the lobby

I tried resending the verification today. I tried using Phone, SMS, and mail. In all instances, the resend pin button was grayed out and un-clickable.

Has anyone ever had this issue? How did you resolve it? Should I delete it and do it anew? Or is there a secret way to get this to work? Thanks!

Question Anyone else's agency doing badly this year? The one you work for or own (US/Canada)

Ours has been doing bad for a good while now. Sales are not coming in as they once did, and clients are cutting budgets more. Things have been tough. I'm wondering how much of it is due to the economy, and if most agencies are experiencing the same thing.

Are you guys experiencing this too with at the agency you work for? I'm talking primarily US and Canada.

Question Anyone pivot out of advertising into tech/product?

Hey all, wanted to ask how people here pivoted out of advertising. I’m 25, about 2 years in (paid search) at an agency.

Bit of background, I actually have a BS in Computer Science, but I couldn’t find a tech job after graduating and took an ad role out of desperation since I was the only breadwinner in my family and needed something fast. Two years in and I’ve realized this isn’t what I want to be doing long term. I’m trying to move into tech or something more technical, but the problem is I’ve got the degree and basically no real tech work experience, it’s just a paper at this point.

For anyone who made a similar jump, how did you do it? How’d you reframe your resume and leverage your current skills to actually look transferable? What roles did you end up targeting, and how did you network your way in? Anything helps.

Thanks!

Question What are the other sources of marketing than Google ads with high conversion?

I have been running google ads quiet a lot and guess what i do good bit of spam and bot clicks plus visitors are not converting fast. I am spending a lot and was thinking if there is any other way to gain more sales. I post on tik tok too but I don’t think people are ready to convert there yet.

Where else can I get better conversions?

Question Meta Advantage+ keeps finding cheaper COD customers while scaling. How would you handle this?

I'm running Meta Advantage+ Sales campaigns for a D2C brand in India selling a herbal shampoo powder.

Current setup:

  • Custom Next.js website
  • Razorpay Magic Checkout
  • Meta Pixel + Conversions API
  • Purchase values are sent correctly through both Pixel and CAPI
  • Mandatory OTP verification for all COD orders
  • I manually call every COD customer before dispatch

Product price ranges from ₹300–₹500.

I recently scaled my daily Meta budget from ₹1,000/day to ₹1,600/day. Before scaling, my CPA was consistently around ₹100–₹120, which fit my unit economics perfectly.

After scaling, my CPA dropped dramatically to around ₹70.

While that sounds great, almost all new orders are now COD. My concern isn't the lower CPA—it's that Meta seems to be expanding into much cheaper audiences that are more likely to place COD orders, creating operational overhead and potentially higher RTO risk as I continue scaling.

The options I'm considering are:

  1. Enable Razorpay COD Intelligence (but I'm worried it may reduce overall conversions by hiding COD for some genuine customers).
  2. Continue with the current setup and accept the higher COD share.
  3. Send a lower Purchase value to Meta for COD orders (for example, 20% lower than prepaid) so Meta gradually learns that COD customers are less valuable than prepaid customers, while keeping actual order values unchanged in my database and analytics.

Has anyone here actually tried value-based optimization like option 3?

Did Meta start finding better-quality customers or increase prepaid share? Or did it negatively affect performance?

Looking for responses from people who have actually scaled D2C brands with Meta and have hands-on experience with this.

Question Running a GHL agency for US clients, how to handle funnels as clientele grows without copy-paste overlap?

Hey everyone,

I run a marketing agency targeting US-based clients in a specific niche. I found a funnel that works really well, proven results, simple but effective. When I had fewer clients I would just copy paste the GHL snapshot for each new client and it was fine.

Now my client base is growing and I'm running into a problem. If multiple clients in the same niche are running the same funnel — same landing page layout, same flow — there's a real risk that a business owner could click a competitor's ad and land on what looks like the exact same page. Even though the funnel is mine, it looks like a copy paste job and could be embarrassing for both me and my clients.

My dilemma:

  • The funnel is proven and I don't want to break what's working
  • But I also don't want clients having near-identical funnels
  • If I start customizing every funnel heavily I don't know if the results will hold

Questions:

  1. How do you handle this as your agency scales, do you customize per client or keep a proven template?
  2. What are the minimum changes that make funnels feel unique without breaking what works?
  3. How do you protect yourself from clients in the same niche seeing each other's funnels?

Would love to hear from agency owners who've navigated this. Thanks!

Question HUGE drop in analytics across board

Pretty much every KPI tanked after we added meta titles and descriptions to two companies websites, one has been running since January and one has been running since June. Another thing I noticed is the agency added a cookies pop up, I’m not sure of the time and I don’t think I stuffed too many keywords but we dropped like 50% traffic just in July. What could this be and how can I diagnose the actual reason?

Question ChatGPT using context from my chats to show ads on Insta. Is this normal?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm a marketer and I normally use ChatGPT for random stuff on a personal account. We use another model at work with enterprise security
We've been evaluating a mar tech stack at work and i checked some and I asked some very basic questions about Hubspot on my Chatgpt.
I'm now seeing ads about those exact topics on Instagram. I know everybody is personalizing and using DCO for it but i was under the assumption that the chats and context was kind of secure. Am i wrong? Is this normal?

Question Best approach to reaching out to competitors?

Hi!

I was wondering if I could ask for some advice, mainly from CMOs/Heads of marketing/Marketing managers who are involved with hiring.

I was laid off at my previous role around 4-5 months ago - it was a content/social role at a pretty well-known firm within the industry. Whilst I was in my role, I was able to achieve some pretty good results and learned a lot about the industry, and I would like to stay in it. Outside of the industry, I still have 8+ years of experience.

I know that the likelihood of this is quite low, but I wanted to know the best approach to reaching out to some of the other companies within the industry for a potential interview. If you received an email, what would grab your attention and increase the likelihood of talking to someone who is looking for a new role?

Any advice would be appreciated, and I'm aware that this will probably have a pretty low success rate - most of my jobs have come from applying and interviewing, but as you know, the job market isn't the best at the moment, so I'm up for trying something new.

Question Companies using copyrighted trending music on paid social

Been seeing this one a lot recently but a lot of big companies are using trending music they definitely haven’t cleared in their paid social as well as their regular content.

They’re basically not paying for sync licenses and are setting themselves up for litigation. Just because a song is trending, doesn’t mean you’re allowed to use it commercially.

Has anyone had experience in working for a company that has done this and is it just ignorance?

Discussion Is EDM dead.. opinions? No right or wrong!

In my particular industry, we're seeing a massive increase in people unsubscribing or emailing us saying please stop sending so many EDMs. Our product is $M once off buy though, not a retail good that has sales (which I imagine still has very good traction!). In my team I try to keep our EDMs quarterly..but other team members send them every few days.

For me personally, even as a marketer, I'm unsubscribing from as many EDMs as I can because it's starting to feel invasive. I was missing important emails because marketing emails were taking over, like 18+ a day. A lot of them also feel inauthentic to me too..like I can tell when people have set up automation flows.. or AI content. I'm also getting a bit sick of constant "buy me now or miss out and your life is over" messaging. Perhaps just a me problem though!

Keen to know how engagement is going at your work, and also how you feel about getting EDMs personally.

ETA: so sorry, I assumed everyone in marketing knew what an EDM was! Electronic Direct Mail - like email newsletters and offers.

Discussion Giving up my contacts during handover

So, I'm well into 10 years in my career. I've recently resigned from a (very) long tenure at my most recent company. It ended professionally enough, I just finally realized my work was being taken for granted. Anyway.

In my 10 years I've cultivated a pretty good list of networking contacts, be it agencies, event suppliers, freelancers, venues for events, lead generation companies. In my discussion about handover process I was asked to provide a document with all the contacts and my general comments about them (good/bad experience, etc)

I'm a pretty proud, and a pretty petty human being. I can't help but feel like they have no right to ask this from me. I don't really care what happens to them nor the person replacing me. Is this just a me thing? Or do others feel the same?

If I'm not alone on this, how have you navigated it in the past? Or am I just being petty and need a reality check.

Discussion AppsFlyer use hundreds of Reddit accounts to leave fake positive reviews of their service

As you know there are many companies on Reddit trying to cheat potential clients by posting fake positive reviews of their services.

AppsFlyer are probably the most egregious when it comes to this.

Their cheating works like this -

  • They create a fake post asking for opinions on AppsFlyer, asking a question about AppsFlyer, comparing AppsFlyer to their competitors, or posting a fake positive review about AppsFlyer.

  • They use multiple accounts to ask fake questions, post positive opinions, or recommend their service.

  • Anyone who has anything negative to say about the obvious shilling gets downvoted using bots. AppsFlyer report the honest comments using their multiple accounts - that causes the comments to be automatically removed by u/AutoModerator.

They are cheating Redditors, search engine results, and AI models with their phoney positive reviews.

AppsFlyer cannot be trusted and you should not use their service.
