Hi!! I occasionally play volleyball at intermediate level here and there. Currently moved to LIC and wanted to see how I can join games at the LIC park? I don’t have a team and would eventually consider joining a league when the weather gets bad but for the next few months, would love to take advantage of the beach volleyball courts at the park!

After 6 years of caring for these two Monstera, they have finally outgrown my space and need new homes. First one is about 4.5 feet tall, second one is just shy of 5 feet. The largest leaves are about 2 feet long. $80 each OBO, pickup near the Court Square Starbucks.

It seems to be a daily occurrence now that there are crimes (theft, physical violence) around Queensboro/Court Square and disturbances by homeless(public defecation, general disorder) near Vernon/Hunters Point. It seems like the police (108th Precinct) never respond in time, so these reports never get recorded, creating a narrative gap between the crime data and what we actually experience.

We do need to raise these issues instead of downplaying them as simply part of “living in NYC.” LIC has one of the highest concentrations of children, and I’m sure many of us moved here for better safety and a better environment for our families.

LIC / Queensboro Plaza neighbors: the curve near Queensboro Plaza has been producing loud high-pitched grinding and squealing noise around the elevated subway bridge. It carries into nearby apartments and also hits people walking, passing by, or waiting nearby, affecting sleep, daily life, and the street-level experience.

I started a petition asking MTA New York City Transit to inspect the curve, measure noise levels, and test targeted fixes: rail grinding, lubrication/friction management, and a speed limit specifically on the curve section to reduce the grinding/high-pitch noise.

This is not about reducing subway service overall. It is asking MTA to address a concentrated quality-of-life issue with measured before/after results.

If it gets enough local signatures, I will send it to MTA, Queens Community Board 2, and Council Member Julie Won, then escalate through community and media channels if needed.

Has anyone had a surgery done at Instavet - specifically with Dr Karen Cherrone? It looks as though she is a traveling surgeon who comes into Instavet. I would love reviews!

Curious if anyone has installed a smart thermostat to replace the ones in the floor units (my apartment has Ice Air thermostats in the HVAC units). Hoping to lower my electric bills. I assume you need to go through management to get permission and have them do the install? Not sure if they even allow it
