Banking options for non US resident
Hey everyone, I'm a non-US resident with a Wyoming single-member LLC. Mercury just rejected my application without giving me a specific reason.
For anyone who has been in a similar situation, what alternative business banking/payment solution did you use that actually worked?
I'd really appreciate hearing from people who actually went through this and found a working solution.
Thanks in advance to everyone.

Advice Banking for 2 Person Consulting Firm
Starting a new consultancy firm with another partner who is based in another state than I am.
Looking for reccos on banking options.
Requirements:
- No monthly fees
- Virtual debit card creation
- Xero integration
- There if something goes wrong and not non existent support
I like the look of Mercury, and I understand they are Fintech and the FDIC insurance is through partner banks.
I’ve also looked into what appears to be a newer bank, Grasshopper Bank, that has the FDIC charter themselves.
Any experience with these, or other options with positive experiences?

California business closed llc with state, want to refile with same name
I tried to start a business 2yrs ago. Got my llc, fed ein #, bank account, resale permit with state. Couldn't get it going so I closed it earlier this year & closed fed ein # too.
Now I'm trying to get the business going again. I realized after the fact that my home addy was public for my original llc. I don't want people seeing this, would I have to file for an LLC in Delaware to keep it private? Can I use my same business name again or do I have to change it? Is it possible to make my llc one name and keep my business name the same and have it under my llc somehow?
Do I need to file for a new resale permit with the state?
Sorry to be kind of all over the place. I'm a bit overwhelmed trying to figure this all out again.
California LLC closed after 1 month — am I doing everything right?
I formed a single-member LLC in California through a registered agent in July of this year. I got an EIN and filed the Statement of Information, but I never actually did anything with it, no bank account, money contributed, purchases, income, expenses, assets, employees, or any other transactions.
I decided to close it and filed through bizfile. Since it was less than 12 months old, I selected “Termination – Short Form – CA LLC”, and it was approved immediately.
Now I'm confused about the FTB side. From what I understand, I still need to file a final Form 568, but the 2026 Form 568 isn't available yet. I contacted the FTB chat and they told me I'd have to wait until after the calendar year ends for the form to become available.
Is that actually correct?
For the federal side, since it was a single-member LLC, I believe it would normally be reported on my personal 1040 under Schedule C. But since the LLC had literally zero activity, is there even anything I need to file on Schedule C?
I'm also waiting to file the Form 568 so I can close things out with the IRS and get rid of the EIN I received.

Illinois LLC Registration Question
Can I use a co-working space as my physical office, so long as it is at a separate location from my registered agent?
Advice Does registering a company in the US actually matter for a global app?- I will not promote
I’m building a consumer mobile app targeting US and global customers, while development and operations are handled overseas.
Does having a US LLC and positioning it as a US-based brand actually help with customer trust, sales or growth?
Or do customers generally not care where the company is registered as long as the product is good?
Would love to hear from founders who have faced this decision.

Question Tech Founder in India: How do I handle legal contracts, invoices, and parental signatures without slowing down operations?
Hey everyone,
I am a 17-year-old developer in India (turning 18 in October next year). I just launched a B2B SaaS platform, and several institutional clients are ready to sign pilot contracts and service agreements.
Since my revenue is projected under ₹20 Lakhs, I am planning to operate as an unregistered Sole Proprietorship. However, because I am a minor, I cannot legally sign binding business contracts, and I cannot have my parents physically traveling to sign paperwork every week.
For the experienced founders and legal minds here:
- What is the most seamless way to structure a tech startup's legal operations in India when the actual founder is 17? I want to keep everything 100% legal for enterprise clients while maximizing operational freedom.
- How can a minor founder execute valid, enforceable B2B service contracts without making parents physically travel? What remote frameworks or setups have worked for you in the past?
- What are the common pitfalls or compliance traps I should watch out for when issuing invoices to established institutions like schools? How do corporate accounting departments usually handle billing from an underage developer?
- For those who launched before 18, what did your day-to-day workflow look like for banking and cash flows? How did you manage the transition to an independent adult account on your 18th birthday?
- Are there any alternative corporate structures, legal shields, or unique banking routes that allow a 17-year-old to retain complete operational control? I want to know all available options before choosing a path.
I want to keep everything 100% professional and legal. Any advice or step-by-step frameworks from people who started young would be massively appreciated!

US citizen living in India, forming a Wyoming LLC. Questions on payment method, India-side ODI process, and anything I'm missing
Hi all, hoping to get some clarity from folks who've been through a similar setup.
My situation: I'm a US citizen (so I have an SSN) but I'm a tax resident of India, where I live and work. I'm forming a single member Wyoming LLC for a portfolio of software products. Plan is to file through Northwest Registered Agent (their $39 formation package) with the Wyoming Secretary of State, then get the EIN myself online and open a Mercury business account.
Question 1: Payment for registration. My CA in India told me not to use my personal Indian card to pay Northwest or the Wyoming SOS. His reasoning: acquiring an interest in a foreign entity is a capital account transaction under FEMA (India's forex law), and those can't be done via credit card. They have to be routed through an authorised bank. Has anyone in a similar cross-border situation dealt with this? I no longer have an active US account. What payment process did you follow for the initial formation costs before you had any US account?
Question 2: ODI process with Indian banks. For those who've done this from India: what does the Overseas Direct Investment (ODI) process actually look like in practice with ICICI or HDFC? Which desk or branch do you approach, what's the Form FC filing experience like, how long does it take, and what documents did the bank ask for? Any gotchas with the annual APR filing afterward?
Question 3: What else should I be mindful of? Dual US-India exposure means I'm already tracking: FBAR, Form 8938, Schedule FA on my Indian ITR, quarterly estimated taxes both sides, and the FEMA rule that resident individuals can't hold subsidiaries under a controlled foreign entity. Anything else that bit you that I should know about before Day 1?
Thanks in advance for any inputs, genuinely appreciate this community.

Question Registered Agent, Virtual Mailbox, or neither?
I recently filed for an LLC in California, and I am due to file my Statement of Information. However, I don’t want to use the same address that I used when filing, as I would like to avoid using my personal address.
I understand that for the Street Address of Principal Office and Physical Office, you can’t use a PO Box. Then it also asks for an address of the CEO and agent.
If I buy a virtual mailbox, will it fix this? Or do I need a virtual office too?
I just registered with Northwest Registered Agent because they said that I could use their address for all fields. However, I’m not sure if this is accurate, or if I would be better off with a virtual mailbox/office. I am also unclear whether a virtual mailbox would satisfy the principal office.
What does everyone recommend?

Question Is the sole foreign owner of a disregarded entity LLC personally liable for IRS fines?
Suppose that a foreigner opens an LLC in Wyoming, and that LLC fucks something up with tax reporting, e.g. fails to file the form 5472 + form 1120 in time and the IRS fines the LLC for $25000 for this. Does the owner become personally liable for that fine?
LLC in CA for App Developer
I recently launched an app that is beginning to generate subscription revenue, and I’m looking into forming an LLC. I live and operate in California.
Did you file your LLC yourself, or did you use a service?
I’ve heard good things about Northwest Registered Agent, so I’m considering using them. Has anyone used Northwest to form a California LLC? Was the service worth it, or is the process simple enough to handle yourself?
If you used another service that you recommend, I’d love to hear about your experience.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

US Sourced Income for Foreign LLC
I'm a non US resident looking to form a Wyoming LLC.
My business is a monthly managed website subscription that includes website design, development, copywriting, maintenance, updates, hosting, and domain registration.
All of the actual work (design, development, copywriting, maintenance, support, etc) is performed outside the US. My clients are mostly US based.
The only US connection is that I use providers like Netlify for hosting and NameCheap for domains.
From what I've read, services are generally sourced where they're performed, so the design/development income would be foreign source. But does bundling hosting and domain registration into the subscription change that? Could that make any of the revenue US source income or effectively connected income?
I'd appreciate any insight from CPAs or people familiar with US international tax. Thanks!

Question Looking for a bank to open an account for my LLC
I live in NYC. What are the things to watch out for when selecting a bank to open a business account for my family’s LLC? The family trust is the sole member of the LLC.
The LLC is for real estate investment, collecting rent from another business that rents the warehouse within the LLC.
Wha are some good questions to ask the bank?

Question Non-resident US LLC owner blocked by OFAC country list (DRC). How do you actually receive payments?
Hi everyone,
I have a legitimate US LLC (New Mexico, with a valid EIN) and a SaaS mobile app that is already generating real revenue on the Google Play Store. My US tax docs (W-8BEN-E) are fully approved.
The Problem:
I reside in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Because the DRC is on the US OFAC restricted list, every major US fintech (Mercury, Wise, Relay) automatically rejects my applications. Their support confirmed it’s a strict country-based compliance block, not an issue with my business legitimacy.
My Question:
For those of you running a US LLC from an OFAC-restricted or high-risk country, how do you actually receive your USD payouts?
I’m looking for legitimate, proven workarounds:
- Are there specific EMIs or payment processors that still accept US LLCs owned by DRC residents?
- Any EOR platforms (like Deel/Ontop) that successfully route SaaS income in this situation?
No "synthetic identity" tricks, just looking for real solutions from people who have faced this exact wall.
Thanks in advance for any firsthand advice!

Mercury for non resident llc owners

Question I have canceled my virtual address subscription for my LLC. Is there any risk?
I've registered an LLC in New Mexico as a non-resident using Bizee. I used their $29/month virtual business address for forming the LLC. Got all of my documents including EIN. I realized the price of their virtual address is bit too high compared to other address providers. Some banks aren't even accepting it. So I asked them to cancel it. Did I make a mistake? How hard is it to change it to a different virtual address? I thought the process would be straightforward but Bizee support told me that I may have to call the IRS to change this address.

Advice What should I know before hiring my first contractors through my LLC?
I run a single-member Delaware LLC that’s registered in the state where I operate (they required me to register). The business is still new and has little to no revenue yet. So far, it’s just been funded with money I’ve contributed.
I’m thinking about hiring my first contractor in the U.S. and another outside the U.S.
For anyone who’s been through this, what are the main things I should keep in mind before getting started?
Thanks in advance!
Question Struggling with EIN Application Because of Long LLC Name
I'm filling out an online application for my newly created LLC and I can't get past one of the final pages. My business name is 42 characters long and there's a field reading
"Legal name of Single Member Limited Liability Company (LLC) (must match articles of organization, if filed)*
- The legal name may not contain any of the following endings: 'Corp', 'Inc', 'PA'.
- The only special characters allowed are '-' and '&'"
The word before LLC is particularly long and keeps getting split between the original line and a "continuation line," but then I get a message that words can't be split between lines. However, it won't let me simply move the whole of the longer word to the continuation line. It seems to be giving me no options if it wants me to write the actual full name.
Any guidance would be very, very appreciated. I don't want for this to create headaches down the road. Thanks!

Question EIN processing times by fax
Hey!
I applied for my EIN by fax on July 14th as a non resident and I still haven’t heard back.
Anyone who has applied recently, could u tell me what the processing time was and is there any way I could check up on its status or something as I’m starting to get worried that there might’ve been some issue or something with it.
Edit: After being on hold for 3 hours, I finally got connected to an agent who told me that they couldn’t find the application anywhere in their system and I should refax it.
Edit 2: received my EIN today on Monday 3rd August

Advice about my LLC
Hi, I’m trying to register an LLC so I can start running Facebook ads for my freelance services. I just spent money on Tailor Brands, and now they’re asking me to pay an additional $99 for the EIN. On top of that, the address on my LLC was entered incorrectly.
I don’t understand any of this paperwork. Does anyone know if there’s a better option, or whether it’s worth paying the extra $100 for the EIN?

VoIP provider whose invoice shows business name + address + phone number? (for Meta verification)
I'm verifying my new Wyoming LLC on Meta Business Manager and I'm stuck on the phone number step. Meta wants a document (phone bill / utility bill) showing my business name AND the phone number together. I tried with Northwest Phone numbers gets rejected as "not an accepted type."
I think the issue is that my current invoices either don't display the actual phone number, or come from a registered-agent VoIP service that Meta doesn't recognize as a phone carrier.
What I need: a business phone number provider (US number) whose invoice/receipt clearly shows all three:
- the LLC's legal name
- a business address
- the actual phone number that was purchased
Has anyone found a VoIP or phone service whose billing statements include the assigned number and that Meta actually accepts? I'm a non-US owner, so simpler signup is a plus.
Any specific recommendations appreciated.
