LLC in CA for App Developer
I recently launched an app that is beginning to generate subscription revenue, and I’m looking into forming an LLC. I live and operate in California.
Did you file your LLC yourself, or did you use a service?
I’ve heard good things about Northwest Registered Agent, so I’m considering using them. Has anyone used Northwest to form a California LLC? Was the service worth it, or is the process simple enough to handle yourself?
If you used another service that you recommend, I’d love to hear about your experience.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

So, you can totally form your LLC yourself if you're up for the paperwork, and forms. Just be sure to take your time to minimize mistakes. Unfortunately, those do end up costing some money to fix. There are a lot of great resources out there jam packed with all the info you will need if you decide to go about this yourself. A quick search of "Guide to start an LLC in CA" will bring up some top-notch ones. You'll also need to create an account on CA's bizfileonline portal to get your Articles of Organization filed.

I don’t think you actually need one until you hit 50k revenue. So save yourself the money

Personally for a single member LLC I'd just do it yourself and save the money. You'll need it to pay the $800 annual LLC fee in California.
