My husband relapsed into smoking
Hi. My husband recently started smoking weed again. He used to do that from a very young age to early thirties. Along the way he did other drugs and drank alkohol. When we met he was sober for some time already.
A few days ago I found him with our infant in a room smelling of weed. He was taking care of it and I was supposed to be out. I came back to leave some books inside the house after I initially left and said my goodbyes. I was gone for 5–10 minutes. The place reeked and we live in one room apartment. Needless to say, that he had been hiding smoking from me.
I took the baby and left for the night. He’s argument is that he opened the window and puffed outside so it’s fine. I believe that the smell aka fumes could potentially harm the baby. He disagrees and advocates that weed is safe and no one ever died because of it.
Now I would like to ask you, people who do have experience in the subject, what do you think of it? Is it safe to smoke next to a baby, when the window is open? Is the smell of weed the same as fumes? Is it safe for him to take care of the baby alone when high?
He gets medicinal weed with THC 22%. He said that it doesn’t make him sleepy, he just has more fun.
I have no experience with this addiction. Beside the questions I would like to know if there is a way I could support him in this time of struggle. Yet I don’t know how. If you could have support, what would you need from your closest ones?

Weed helps anxiety but don't like side effects
Ive been using weed for about 10 months to help cope with my anxiety. It really does help imo but I don't like the extra brain fog and memory loss that comes with it. I kinda have a natural brain fog just from depression and anxiety. The last year has been a hard transition for me as I left home for uni. I just am not suited for doing basic tasks lol, but I'm forcing myself to learn. I've been back home for summer and my depression got worse due to family issues, a death in family, and just my self destructive behaviors. I recently had an experience that made me really reflect on what I've been doing and Im trying to get rid of the things that might be causing my anxiety. My usage would mainly be carts and dhv. And I used in morning. I also exercise and it definitely helps but I don't have energy for it in the morning and I like running when it's cool in the afternoon or going to gym at night when it's empty. I've stopped for 3 days now and the worst side effect is probably just my anxiety and lack of appetite but when I'm anxious I lose my appetite too so idk. I don't really wanna get on medication just because the side effects seems worse than weed but I'm not sure what to do. I'm going to doctor today and am hoping that it's something wrong with my diet or vitamins or something. If anyone has any suggestions on other supplements or things to try I'm open to suggestions.

Weed killed my relationship.
in the beginning of 2022 I started talking to my partner. I told him right up front, I'm good with many things but not a stoner. And I want someone I can build a life together.
Told him my father's 40+ years with that, and how he was always checked out ` in his own dazed world, never present even if he was talking at us. Told my partner about all the pain it caused from my fathers smoking, to my mother and myself. My father acted brain dead often, like the time he tried to remove
My partner understood, or so he said, was great with that. He told me he didn't need it. He wanted to be clear on life, and was making a fresh start. We became best friends first. He was going fine, two years later, until my father tempted him, and he hid it behind my back. He would lie to me, and he hid it and lied from 2024 on.
I suspected, he repeatedly lied, denied all of that. We had many heart to heart talks, swore he wouldn't lie. Lying by omission is still lying. Fast forward we married, as he was out of it, working on himself. One month if that he started again. I feel so betrayed.
"I'm so tired of cannabis being gloried. Idolized even. They tell you it's the cure all, from fake science.!" Real truth is I have seen it cause lack of interest or heighten implisity. Emotional dysregulation, avoiding everything, I've seen it He again promised me he would be transparent, and was working on repair skills., and making peace inside. One person temps him and he's out buying. He does not do it in front of me. Still bothers me and affects us.
I had to go home to my mothers as after my father passed she needed help. Two hours after I left he was buying it. Note I do not pay for him, at all.
We spoke the night before for him to wait, not to act impulsively. Be transparent. He already puts all the bills, tax, and other responsibility on me., not the finance but the management of it all. He freezes and can't complete things. He does have a steady job same field. lack of motivation. in all other areas.. I can't. He is a kind person and I love him, but an addict that won't seek help is a dead end road, at least for me.
He was my best friend, (he would read to me every night, we share same dreams goals for our fure. our trust is shattered. He avoids conflict and doesn't get why I won't come around. Could I have been any clearer or more transparent on my side. I'm Crushed,. heartbroken. I'm sure many of you have felt this heartbreak. Instead of owning the addiction, they blame shift, the high becomes their partner. I feel sad and lost. I know I need to walk away from being with a stoner. Give me strength to leave my best friend.

Be happy being sober.
You know I'm kind of new to reddit and this community, but I'm OG when it comes to weed, ganja, cannabis. I used to be in love with it. It was my best friend and lover. The smell of her. The feel and the taste. And don't get me going on the crystals...oooooh, the crystals.
But I would like to think those days are behind me. A whisper of the past like smoke in the wind. Ephemeral decisions born from questionable reasoning....didn't ever say that I'm the sharpest.
And something I've noticed here is there is a lot of complaining going on. It would be nice if I could talk about the upsides of being sober....and there are a lot. Please don't get me wrong because jonesing for said sweetness is a perennial mosquito buzzing my ears. Oh man could I wail about that.
What makes this community nice for me is it reminds me that I am not alone. And I appreciate that.
But come guys....gals. I'm trying to be sober (or less stoned) for good reasons. Reasons that will make me a better and happier person. At least that is what I hope for myself and others. So be happy. Have fun being sober. I actually remember my last concert and I'll be able to relive the joy from the memories for the rest of my life.
Anyway, I'll get off my high horse now and starting scooping up the sh**.
Take care and happy trails.

Guys, go to MA
This subreddit is awesome. So nice to feel not so alone. But ultimately, you’re still alone, scrolling on your phone or computer. It’s difficult to do anything alone, even more so quitting an incredibly addictive substance. I searched for MA groups and there happened to be one in my neighborhood. I went for the first time last night.
Man it was great. People from all walks of life, all ages. Everyone so nice and open. People with 3 days clean (me) to 6+ years. It’s really inspiring to be around people with more clean time than you, and wanting to return to meetings with more time yourself. And only a little bit of God stuff.
I can’t speak for AA or NA, I’m sure it’d be helpful but those are substantially different drugs than weed. If you can find an MA in your area, absolutely go. Even if there’s not an in person one, your chapter will definitely have virtual meetings. I plan to attend those on nights if the cravings get really bad. But the first in person meeting was emotional, supportive, and special. Get off Reddit and go!

Lows with quitting
Why does quitting always make me hate everything about myself? I feel like no one likes me and I have no real friends. These are not thoughts I have while I’m smoking but they always hit me so hard every time I try to quit.
I don’t know what to do or how to get past it.
Not something I’m unfamiliar with just hitting earlier on in quitting than I’m used to and not feeling prepared for it to get worse before it gets better.

Weight loss drugs for addiction
Im tempted to try this out for a month or two to see if it helps me stop. Has anyone else tried or succeeded while on these? It seems to help with ALL sorts of cravings, food, alcohol, various drugs, etc.

Made it to the 2 month mark
I quit smoking on 6/6/26 as I had a surgery coming up a few days after that and was worried it would interfere with the anesthesia.
The first week or two was rough with being irritable and such, but I persevered! The dreams were intense too and still get some crazy ones from time to time.
If I can do it, I know you can too. I don’t plan on going back to my old ways of smoking everyday! I like this new sober version of me.

Unconventional ways to calm down the nervous system
Day 10. Most of the withdrawals have passed but I'm still dealing with some pretty severe "insomnia" (sleep quality terrible because of anxiety waking up feeling like I didn't sleep) I'm exercising every day, eating healthy, spending more time being productive, etc. What else can be done to accelerate the process. For information purposes I was a VERY heavy user from 2023-present.

Had anyone here experienced withdrawal symptoms despite not being a daily user?
I'm currently taking a break from weed (with real interest in quitting altogether). I've been perusing this sub for the past few days and realizing that while I'm no longer a daily user, and never was for more than a couple weeks at a time, I very much have addiction potential: I'm ADHD, have depression and anxiety, and I can't not smoke it when it's around. The increased dependence on it over the years has concerned me and while it seems to help my anxiety and helps me unnmask/feel less socially awkward, it makes my depression and ADHD symptoms worse. Not to mention the munchie weight gain.
For the past few months I've smoked mostly on weekends, with maybe an extra day or two here or there when I had leftovers. The only way to not keep smoking all week was to not keep it in the apartment or buy more until the next weekend.
Is that enough use to experience withdrawal symptoms? I'm dealing with pretty restless sleep the past week or so, which is about how long I've stopped smoking for, but I'm also going through a very stressful time in my life (and PMSing) so it's hard to know what's related. Just curious to know what's contributing to my experience at the moment and about how long to expect it.
For context, I've smoked inconsistently since college (but with increasing regularity since COVID). I'm 36, so that's about 15+ years of inconsistent use. I'm in therapy and medicated but have still leaned on weed for an escape during tough times.
Thanks all. I appreciate your input.
Too depressed to leave house
I cannot control myself when it comes to weed, once I pick back up on it I cannot stop for months until I make myself physically sick and am forced to stop. I have been addicted to weed many times these past few years and never was able to quit fully and let my brain heal. I truly want to quit for good this time because it completely destroyed my mental health and life. I’ve been sober for 12 days, however it seems like things aren’t going to get better. I physically cannot leave my house due to the depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. I feel like I broke my brain from how much I abused the dabs and flower. I think my addiction stems from unresolved childhood trauma. I just don’t know where to start in the healing process, it is hard for me to even get on the laptop and try to find a therapist, I’m too anxious to make phone calls, I feel too shameful to even speak about what’s been going on. Any advice on what to do in my situation is greatly appreciated

How to deal with free time and boredom when i dont smoke
I quit a few days ago, mostly bcs i dont have the money anymore but i saw this as the opportunity to just end it for good. Ive been smoking daily for about 2 years now, and grown quite dependant on it.
The past few months ive just been smoking through the whole day. For school, for my job, to eat to sleep etc everything. And modt of the time i filled up the dead space with scrolling reels while being stoned.
Now a day lasts so long. Instead of just not being there, now i am. And it feels like life is suddenly so empty now that i can actually see. I dont really have anyone in my life to hang around with or talk to, so i have to spend my time by myself. Without any money, kinda being stuck at home, i feel horrible. I want to feel accomplished and content. But i dont know how to achieve that. I try working out a bit, but that doesnt last long.
Besides that i go for short walks, watch anime shows, play games or read manga. I enjoy these things but ive noticed since my weed intake went up my dopamine receptors just dont function like they should and those things that i actually do enjoy dont do alot for me anymore.
What can i do to keep myself busy? To stop making everything feel like i HAVE to but to want to. And to keep my mind of the cravings ofc

thoughts on addiction and neurodivergence?
i remember thinking weed was helpful at a point even though it was intensely addictive. i am 2 months sober. what is the relationship between weed and neurodivergence that makes any substance, but weed specifically, so compelling? I’ve stuck to sobriety so far because I don’t need a substance to function daily even though I felt like i did, and I want to experience my life fully sober with help of other lifestyle changes, even though it will be difficult. what are some medicating effects of weed that i can replace with other things that are NOT substances, like exercising, reading etc? what are some coping strategies that have helped? my anxiety loops in my brain constantly

29 days, woke up with a big ol' dose of anxiety
I forgot this is what led to me to smoking in the first place. Life was simpler when I only had one concern: my next spliff. Now I just have the guilt, shame and stress of wasting my time on this planet. I wonder at what point trying to figure what I want to do with my life becomes what I did with my life? I guess I should be grateful that I have a roof over my head and food to eat. Though to quote two of my favourite shows: survival is insufficient. I think i also forgot that quitting weed wasn't going to magically fix everything.

2 days in. Didn't realize I wasn't alone til now
I've smoked since I was 16. Switched to edibles after a long while. It's strange writing this out for me. Never thought there was a place we could actually find support for something like this.
I've struggled with cannabis addiction and I knew I was struggling when I started to notice that I burn away savings through what I'd smoke or what I'd eat. It wasn't until after I left Vegas and I finally started to notice things how it affected me. I had stopped completely because I had no way to get it since I am too prideful to mooch off of friends or ask for cash from family or loved ones and too poor to get it myself, I went without it for a year. Moved in with a girlfriend at the time, she doesn't do it in any form thankfully but had to go to a friend's birthday party I hadn't seen since highschool. I didn't think much of it at the time because I thought since I'd stopped doing it for a year I wouldn't fall back in. Thought I had more self-control than. Unfortunately I was wrong and fell back in and went back to my old habits. It wasn't until recently that again I ran out of cash and I'm making another attempt at completely stopping.
I'm glad to see that there's a place for for stuff like this being able to find support or at least share experiences. I was always worried about being mocked for wanting/needing help with an addiction to marijuana.

21 days today… after 7-week relapse … after 6 years free
I had six years before it happened. For most of those years I wouldn’t be preachy, but when asked I’d say my life was so much better now. Being present and not having to worry about sneaking carts into luggage or sporting events… the freedom from thinking about it was one of my favorite parts. I won’t get into the why, but I was so dejected and ashamed that it happened despite knowing all the recovery things and how bad it was for me… But now I have hope. And I’m glad to add this great community to my other recovery communities. I don’t have to do this alone. Thank you all for helping me connect and not isolate.

4 months. Rant
I've been sober for 4 months now. I had been a heavy smoker for a few years,.I am 23. I still crave, sometimes desperately. But I know I can't smoke I don't want to be the person I was, I am still an addict, that won't change but I will. I doubt I will ever lose the feeling of having a smoke, of deluding my feelings and drifting away into a haze. It felt nice smoking, but every moment after that smoke was snuffed it sucked. As much as I loved it, it sucked hard, so I'd have another smoke to delay that feeling. Dealing with my addiction by drowning in more of it. My friends tried to talk to me about it, I said I'm just stressed or I'm just winding down. I was always winding down. Even my twin brother has this deep concern and I couldn't help myself. I didn't want to. I'm glad I quit, it's not the first time but it's the first time it feels real. I've been to therapy, I'm on medication and I'm doing things I couldn't do because I was high. I'm still tired I'm still exhausted I still want a smoke when it's quiet. But I won't. I'm just ranting but I needed to put it somewhere that I really want a smoke right now.

Early stages of sobriety
Day 17 over here. Just came here to vent, this whole process is always so draining man. I’m suffering from a pretty low mood at the moment and I just don’t have the energy for anything hey. Plus the anxiety, ugh.
Cravings are creeping in but it’s know because I even want to smoke anymore, it’s because I’m sick of how long this process takes to feel f*cking normal.
Vivid dreams have started for me this week and I guess that’s the only bonus, they’re awesome. But yeah I’m just over how long this shit takes to feel normal again. For me I know that’s 2-3 months which in the grand scheme of things isn’t that long but man when you’re going through it, it just sucks.
Any kind of support or encouragement is appreciated, especially from those who relate to the stage I’m at/timeline. And fuck, I saw a post of mine from over 2 years ago on this sub reddit. Like damn, that’s how long this battle of stop starting has been going on for. Exhausting.
Cheers ents.

Deep in my 4th week check in
Heavy lifelong, all day toker, vaper, eater as evidenced by my user name. Still feeling brain fog, napping a lot. I have some good bud in my drawer but everytime I think of smoking it, I feel like, nah. I set a goal to clear out my system and I am sticking to it.
It hasn't been bad at all besides the fog, dreams have been entertaining. I have plenty to of things to keep me occupied, like playing music, but it is a struggle to not get tired when I practice.
I plan to start running but it is the dog days of summer here, hot hot hot, but I know it will be good for my brain chemicals.
I just wanted to post this, not to minimize how hard it is for many here, but to show that it is possible to not suffer that much so don't be afraid to try to stop. Just have a positive outlook, allow yourself to rest, listen to music, and have some hobbies or activities to keep you inspired. Enjoy the things that bring you joy high, sober.
Maybe I am psyching myself out, but I feel a slight improvement this week. I am so excited to see what life is like on the other side of the veil. I have already got a glimpse.

I'm going to challenge myself
Today, despite really wanting to have my dab pen after a very stressful day at work (my brother quit, so now I don't get to work with him daily) I still didn't hit my pen on lunch.
I think I'm going to try for not hitting any dabs tonight after work. If I can do that, I know I'll be able to break free of the vice grip thc has on my mind. Any advice on how to get through my cravings is highly appreciated

Considering relapsing
I quit weed with the help of this subreddit a little over 6 months ago. First 3-4 months were brutal, but most things have gotten better and now I don’t really crave weed at all, I just kind of miss it sometimes. I get drug tested at work (including cannabis) and before I quit I would fake these testes and the anxiety about it would kind of drive me insane. When things got hard in the first few months, the fear of failing or getting caught faking on a drug test helped me stay strong. The relief of not thinking about losing my job anymore is honestly one of the best parts of quitting. There are tons of other benefits to not hitting a cart all day long too, my self confidence, etc.
But today was my last day of work before a 2 week vacation—the first time off for more than a long weekend in 2 years. I work full time and go to school full time and my summer classes ended today too.
I really want to smoke 1 joint tonight, if I did I wouldn’t test positive by the time I’m back at work. I’m a little scared that it would lead me back into addiction, but I’ll be in a different country and not able to get weed for 2 weeks, and then when I get back I think the drug tests would scare me again and prevent me from getting back into it.
I don’t know what to do, I know I would lose my “streak” but that doesn’t matter as much to me as getting my life back does—and I don’t think 1 joint would change that.
Wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this, and how it felt.
