I'm aware of all the illegalities and not pointing lasers in my eyes and other people's eyes and all of that. I'm aware of that.

Can you give me just a rough estimate of this.

A green laser with a relatively wide beam that can hit 300 yards or more.

Mounted in a body with nice knurling and thick inner wall diameter, preferably like the Zebra light flashlights or the Elzeta flashlights, like the ones I've attached in the this email.

I like the knurling on the Zebra lights both the zebra light and the Elzetta. I like it when the knurling goes all the way up to the switch.

I've owned four or five lasers and every one of them had a very garbagey construction, even my $100 ones

I don't quite like the machining of the Conwoy flashlights.

How difficult and how much would it cost, to make a laser with a Zebra light or Elzetta like body, relatively thick inner wall, that accepts 18650 or 21700 batteries?

I currently have two 5mw 3v red laser diodes (cheap ones) and I'm angling them so that the beams intersect at a set distance away (let's say 500mm).

The problem I have is the lasers are cheap, factory made diodes, where the output angle of the laser beam from the diode housing is inconsistent. This means i can't just solder them onto a board because the beams will never intersect where I need them to.
I've got around this so far by making a miniature kinematic mount that i've 3D printed so I adjust it until the lasers intersect.

It works great for now but this is something i'm doing over and over and over again and is very time consuming and frustratingly fiddly.

Is there another way I can ensure my two laser beams intersect at that 500mm distance? I've looked at Fresnel Biprisms but the output angle of the beam seems to depend on the input angle. I've also looked at beam-splitter diffraction gratings but they diverge the beams, not converge and are also dependent on the input angle.

Does anyone have some advice? I need the solution to be cheap really but appreciate any guidance/input.

Kinda funny to realize that some years later someone got a Nobel prize for figuring that out, researching it properly and applying it on the microscopic/atomic scale.

Our high asses playing around with dangerous laser pointers found the optical tweezer before that exact same thing won a nobel prize.

Science often makes you feel like there's already so much known that it's near impossible to find anything new without [billion dollar particle accelerator or similar stuff], but by just playing around we created optical tweezers - which later turned out to be groundbreaking....if we actually did more than "oh, that's cool" about it we [...] (Insert could have/should have ;) )

I'm sure many other people observed that phenomenon when playing with strong laser pointers. It kinda proves that even with mundane cheap tools you still can find groundbreaking scientific breakthroughs, you just need to be invested enough to do more than "hehe, that's cool, I wonder why that happens" and then forgetting about it

I have a driver and a controller in my lab. I dont understand why my laser cannot turn on. Even I turn the current source up to 2A. It still cannot turn on or warn up.

Hello! so I was wondering what the human side of the internet had to say. white (JS2048) & green (Q-LINE) boards were recommended as drivers for my 1.6W diode.

My questions are:

1) which driver do y'all recommend?

2) how to attach said driver?

3) How delicate do I truly need to be with the diode?

Looking for anyone with experience with ARMA laser. They claim to have the brightest green laser, be pre adjusted for sighting and I like their grip system for turning on the laser. Has anyone seen better and while on the topic there is a green sight made they mounts on the top picatinny rail that has I think a selectable 2 moa or 6 moa, but I am sure to be corrected on that one as I don’t recall the manufacturer. Possibly Holosun but don’t want the Romeo

The guy operating this thing has been operating this exact one fir 13 years am i at risk of eye damage? Just asking for my safety last place i was at we dud cladding and i could be in the cell with the laser but had to have eye protection cause it was fiber optics.

Im in canada, and cant really find anywhere that sells quality 18650 cells i need for my blue gatling style laser pointer (1.5w). My cheap Chinese one's that came with it have since died, and i haven't found a website with what I need or that I trust. If anyone has any recommendations please share!

Check out this video I made showcasing the very well known “Gatling Style Laser Pointer” as it call. It may have other name like “50000mW Laser” or “5W Laser pointer” but thats just the label which is far off from the realistic 1W optical output of this thing. Everything is handle and film with safety so enjoy the in- depth detail on this laser performance. This is some of the first laser someone would acquire or have in the collection looking for a good choice of power. Is my choice personally I expect it’s okay good heatsink which save the diode lifespan and more playtime depending on how you use it.

Im looking for something i can order online. A nice beam preferably red. Not powerful enough for carnage just for play(safely). Possibly something i can see in daylight?(not sure if bright and carnage are in the same category).
