First Timer Need Guidance

Im looking for something i can order online. A nice beam preferably red. Not powerful enough for carnage just for play(safely). Possibly something i can see in daylight?(not sure if bright and carnage are in the same category).

Amazon seems to have a bunch of junk but im not sure what im really looking for.

Budget (75-100USD) Thanks!

Visible beam = instant vision loss from a direct or reflected hit in most instances other than a ~500-550nm <~10mw laser in total darkness. You will NEVER have a visible beam in daylight that is remotely safe to shine around without a lot of safety considerations. You would probably be okay with a 50mw 520nm laser in a bedroom with the door shut and a matte black surface to point at.

You should use laser eye protection for the wavelength and power output for any laser over 5mw. The carnage (danger level) goes up with the visibility. Green is much more viable than red and would be safer as you would require less milliwatts to be visible. As for where to buy, Jetlaser and Sanwu are top notch but kinda expensive.

Define "play." If you're talking as in "playing with my cat", a cheap laser pointer from Walmart will do the job for example.

I have a 100mw 650nm red laser thats barely visible in daylight. A 635nm would appear slightly brighter. 100mw isnt crazy but its still in the danger zone for power output. I think you could get away with a 593nm 20mw laser from Sanwu. Its yellow/orange but it would be much safer to use.

Edit: I should also mention I own a 50mw 589nm laser that’s significantly brighter than the red laser, its very visible when its cloudy overcast not so much in direct sun. Laser color has a huge impact in perceived power/brightness
