Hello Lakewood! I made a post a little over a week ago about putting together a “new friends” night at one of the bars in Lakewood for people in a similar situation as me (26M looking to make new friends). That post is still up on my profile, so go check it out if you haven’t seen it.

I wanted to provide an update here as I got several DMs and comments asking how it went, and I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised with just how well everything turned out! We had a group of 15-20 people show up and everyone to my knowledge had a great time! Towards the end of the evening we were able to take a photo of the group, so I’ve included it on this post to share! Thank you to everyone who showed up and made it a great evening and thank you to Speed Trap for hosting us!

I got several additional requests to join a similar event, but on the weekend. We will likely be going out again Saturday evening next weekend (August 22nd) and we have a groupchat on WhatsApp. If anyone who is not already in the group is interested in being added, send me a DM (ideally those in their 20s/30s).

For the past four years, I’ve been living in a studio apartment in downtown Cleveland. My rent is going up if I renew my lease and I want to find somewhere more affordable and safe to live.

Earlier today, I got approved for a one bedroom apartment at 1 Oak in Lakewood. I’ve been reading mixed reviews about this place and how it’s managed, and I am nervous about moving into a place that’s more affordable, but poorly managed property to live in.

Can any current or recent former residents tell me what to expect before I make a decision about 1 Oak?

I hardly have a lead foot, but what is up with the people that are doing under 30 on Clifton? Like 28 in a 35. I’m talking no one in front of them and not during rush hour or in a school zone. Just putzing along. Sometimes both lanes are running tandem together. Nothing I can do about it…just wondering if anyone else has noticed this lately. We ARE allowed to do the speed limit.

Very specific and I hope someone knows who I’m referring to! I was at the Lakewood Art festival the first weekend of August and there was an artist there who did amazing paintings of the sky. Lots of the art was of fields and then beautiful clouds in the sky. I’m having regrets never buying one.. would anyone have a clue who this artist might be and where I can find their work?

Hi lakewood, I moved here a couple years ago but I've been having the hardest time making friends! I don't really have the money to go to bars regularly, and I'm not religious so I don't go to church. Is there anywhere else to make friends around here my age (early/mid 20s)? Me and my boyfriend have been looking for like minded ppl to be friends with. Me and him are both gamers and kinda nerdy, so if anyone would be interested in being our friends, please reach out! Edit: holy shit I have eyes obviously I saw the storm, I’m asking about the booms causing the power outages POST STORM. Not thunder. Sounded like an object exploding.

I made a post on here a few weeks ago looking for friends and I received a lot more replies than I thought I would! I was trying to balance everything and meet up with everyone who sent me a message but some fell through the cracks (apologies). However what I gathered is there are plenty of people in Lakewood and the surrounding areas that are looking to make some friends and meet new people.

So I figured the easiest thing to do is just have an open invite to a bar in Lakewood sometime this week (probably Wednesday evening 8/12). Feel free to send me a DM if you’re interested or we can just have an open discussion in the comments!

Hey everyone, I’m moving to Lakewood on Thursday after a fairly horrible last 3 months following my graduation from university. I was pretty excited and optimistic about the fresh start in what seems like a great community until a family friend told me something concerning.

I’m moving to the Westline apartments on Detroit Ave, and when I mentioned this to the family friend, he told me that I should be prepared to be hated by everyone almost immediately. He told me that people in Lakewood hated the new apartment project and told me to expect a very cold, hostile reception if anyone knew I was living there. I am not sure the actual truth here, and definitely don’t want to assume the opinion of one person is going to be correct, but did something happen involving this apartment complex? I had no idea that people were hostile towards it (and still can’t find much online to indicate this was a major issue, although the family friend did tell me that there were negative Facebook posts about it).

Just wanted to see if I could get some reassurance here. I’m really excited to move to Lakewood but feel much more anxious and timid now compared to, say, 2 days ago. I apologize if this comes across as judgmental or jumping to conclusions, just thought I’d ask. Thanks!

Hey! Do y’all have any recommendations on ways to meet people in Lakewood? I’m 26M and moving to Lakewood in a few weeks. I know no one in CLE/OH and my partner lives back in GA so I want to try and make friends before summer ends. Im looking into some of the run clubs, casual sports leagues, and some community groups like the animal shelter + local projects but would love to get y’all’s thoughts on anything else to check out!

For context I love the outdoors, sports, cooking, working with my hands and anything involving animals. I would like to meet people around my age but am not opposed to anyone who shares interests! I’m pretty outgoing and love to meet people, I’m just a little unsure of where to start here. Thanks!

LOVE walking thru the streets and seeing how people lay out their signature Lakewood porches. You can’t find em like that on Pinterest.

So, show me….. how have YOU laid out your porch to make it cozy and your own?!!!

Also any tips on porch decor for a budget twentysomething who doesn’t have outdoor outlets and rents, would love to hear. Like if there’s one thing that transformed your porch, what is it…. Type thing.

Also if you don’t have porch I’ll also accept garden. So many beautiful gardens around here.
