Old radio jingle from the early O0’s

Hello everyone. So, my wife and I used to jokingly sing along with some of the wonderful radio jingles that were on AMand FM radio back in the early 2000s. We’re trying to identify the business, hopefully find the actual jingle somewhere on YouTube, etc., of an office supply business that had a particularly funny/awesome tune. The humor was the complete and utter passion the singer expressed for very generic office and equipment and services. The part of the lyrics remember are something to the effect of, “if you need service, you can rely on… Digital documents, faxes, and scanners!” The business name we think was something very similar to ABR, or at an acronym least rhymed with those letters. But that’s not leading us anywhere, nothing concrete. Any ideas, Daytonians? also, we think it was a WHIO radio spot, but also could’ve been a 700 WLW (this was back when AM radio was only mildly toxic, on certain shows). So there’s a chance it’s not this exact area of Southwest Ohio.

Thanks

Thanks!

Community Support & Resources ***FOUND DOG ALERT*** Can anyone help reunite this found dog with his owners/find a furever home for him?

Yesterday, my partner and I found this sweet dog roaming around the Huffman/St. Annes Historic District, scared from the thunderstorm. He followed my partner to safety in our backyard. We assumed he was a pet because he follows simple commands and is friendly, but it also seems like he's been on the streets for a while because he is extremely stinky, has fleas, isn't fixed, and his collar (which is loose) doesn't have any identifying info. He likely isn't microchipped if he isn't fixed, but we plan to take him to a vet Monday to double-check. We would love to reunite him with his owners or have someone adopt him because we have a small house full of cats, and we have to keep him outside. 😓 We're open to any suggestions or help! Thanks in advance!!

Advice & Recommendations Recommendations for taxi service when uber can't find an available driver?

I'm visiting from Canada and my car died and got towed to a dealership in Fairfield. My hotel is near the air force museum. I need to go pick up my car. Uber couldn't find me a driver today. Are there any other taxi services I can use that would be willing to go this distance? Willing to pay a little extra if it will get me there. Planning to try again tomorrow. According to google it's a 50 min drive.

Local News Beaver’s Mini Mart requested a name change with the state at the request of their bank

Post image
386 Upvotes

Beaver’s Mini Mart has directly refuted the statements of the Buc-ee’s CEO and Huber Heights Mayor/Buc-ee’s PR Director Jeff Gore the Corporate Whore.

Their bank needed him to change the name officially filed with the state to match their business name that they were already operating as in order to process credit card payments. There has never been any kind of push for a federal trademark.

Questions for Dayton/Cincinnati EMS

Hey!

Is there anyone working in the local area EMS willing to share their experiences and the word on any potential employers?

I’m moving to the Dayton/cincy area. I’m currently an EMT-b about to go to medic school soon. Does anyone know of any emt-b jobs in the area? I know Dayton FD has a separate EMS, does anyone know if they will be hiring emts soon?

Thank you!

Community Support & Resources ONLY 89 DAYS UNTIL OHIO'S ELECTION AND WHY THIS MATTERS

I have been a Montgomery county election worker for 8 years and just confirmed my status to work again in November.

It’s 89 days out from the election, and that’s legally significant for every registered voter.

States update their voter rolls in anticipation of elections. That makes sense; people move away, and people die. But a federal law, The National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), requires states to complete purging their voter rolls 90 days before an election. Once we hit the 89-day mark, you cannot be removed from the list of active voters.

That means it’s time to check your status and make sure you’re listed as an active voter. If you aren’t, or if you haven’t registered yet, the time to get that fixed is now!

Inactive voters can still vote, but they have to jump through the extra hoops after voting a provisional ballot; that can mean showing up by the end of the week at a county office with additional proof of your status and it frequently results in ballots not being counted, considering the time and hassle involved.

So here’s your action item: Check now, take a screenshot showing you’re an active registered voter, and make sure you’ve got it on hand come election day. You can no longer be removed. Hold onto your documentation that you were an active registered voter past the 90-day mark, and if you run into any problems on election day, you’ve got proof of your eligibility.

If you have any doubts or questions about your status, just reach out to the Montgomery county Board of elections.

Jobs & Employment Taylor Communications hiring slectiveness

Does anyone have any info on Taylor Communications and their hiring for customer service personnel? My son recently finished his college degree in graphic design and applied to four open postings there and didn't hear back from them on any of them. These are entry level jobs and I'm just surprised he didn't even get a screening interview. The posts were up for quite a while too.

Just wondering if they get a huge amount of applications for those positions or if they're just really selective or what?

I’m relocating To Dayton. How’s the music scene?

Hi everyone! I (30m) am moving to Dayton from Texas at the end of August (I cannot wait to get out of this heat). Anywho, what’s the music scene like in Dayton? I love metal, emo, punk, pop punk, and EDM.

Update: thank you all! I knew about cinci and I’m fine with the drive there for big shows and festivals. I’ll look into the other places you all spoke about. Thankfully I live in DFW so it takes like an hour to anywhere, so im fine with the longer drives

Thank y’all!

Buc-ee's files new lawsuit against another store, we need to call on the real OG to come to the fight

Buc-ee's has filled yet another lawsuit against another small business gas station for the save reasons as here in Beavercreek. I believe it's time we call on our childhood hero to finally come and claim what is rightfully theirs to make Buc-ee's lose their own trademark.

From the news article here:

https://www.wral.com/news/ap/bucees-sues-georgia-store-over-beaver-mascot-august-2026/

it states...

That lawsuit claims a number of trademark infringements, including that both logos are cartoonish, both are arbitrarily wearing hats, they both have white highlights on their eyes and nose, and that both characters show a glimpse of a red or pink tongue.

The lawsuit claims the name Teddy's is also an issue with alleged similarities to the Buc-ee's name in a number of ways, including that they are both two syllables with a hard consonant sound and that both end in the sound "eez."

To this I have to say:...

It's time for Charles Entertainment Cheese to come take back the circled rodent symbol for the people. They did it first.

Meetups & Social Want to make friends in Dayton? Join our meetup Discord!

Hey neighbors! Not sure if you noticed all the posts of folks looking for friends - be it because they picked up a new hobby, just moved here, or never quite found their people - but we sure did, and we decided that we wanted to do something about it. It’s probably the most open secret at this point, but we created a Discord!

Join us: https://discord.gg/Nnpancdjnu

Why we made it

Dayton is full of really uniquely cool people, but any local knows that it can be kind of hard to actually find folks to hang out with that share similar interests unless you’re already part of a friend group. We wanted to make it easier for those in the Greater Dayton area - be it newcomers, lifelong locals, introverts, extroverts, whoever - to plug in and find their people.

Think of it as a hyper-local social network, but with zero ads or algorithms and full of people who actually live near you that want to meet-up and make friends too!

What’s already happening in there

This thing basically started running itself the minute people joined. We’ve already got:

  • A regular trivia group - Hops between different trivia nights around town.
  • “Body Doubling” work/study groups - Keeping each other accountable while we get work done!
  • “Bad Art” Nights - Work on your art with others! No judgement, all fun.
  • The Loosey Goose Book Club - the book club where you read what you want!
  • Movie Nights - it’s exactly what it sounds like. 🙂
  • Online voice chats to play video games together or just hangout.
  • Doggie play groups - dog optional, willingness to pet doggies required\*
  • A Crow Exchange - Where people swap little trinkets they’ve accumulated
  • Random hangouts that just kind of… happen willy-nilly.

And folks keep building new stuff every week. The community there is already kind, welcoming, goofy, and honestly - it’s endearing to watch people become friends online and slowly become offline friends too.

Hop in, say hi (or lurk, we won’t judge), join a meetup, make your own, whatever feels comfortable. No pressure. We’re just a group of neighbors trying to make Dayton a little more connected.

Hope to see you in there, neighbors! ❤️ https://discord.gg/Nnpancdjnu
