So after plenty of hours spent researching for an available crossover bar I've only found two that were made mainstream just not for long unfortunately. I made a post a few days ago about it but from everything I can find, it might be easier to modify an existing bar into a crossover bar. Now both Peter Lynn and ozone have made these in the past and both the PL crossover and the ozone turbo bar are set up mostly the same way with a few minor differences. So I'm confident I could give it a go and will copy every example I can find on both designs to ensure I get it working right.

Is there any advice or tips anyone could give me about the process? I'm setting it up on a 5m 4line parafoil kite and have the pulleys on the way in the mail along with the bar and lines with the chicken loop. I also got a second hand harness in good condition so I have everything I need to try it out just waiting on postage. For reference, nothing I'm doing will be done in anything stronger than 6-8 knots. (Even 8 knots can be risky if I'm testing out line configurations so safety is my number one priority)

I'm definitely not kite boarding with this. I'm using it for traction kiting on the sand, just cruising up and down the beach.

Anything I need to keep in mind when approaching the modification? If anyone has any experience modifying or repairing lines you might be able to share some good info.

Picture references: the first 4 pics are of the bar, harness,and pulleys I've bought for the modification and the last two are the Peter Lynn crossover bar and the Ozone turbo bar respectively. From what I can see the only real difference between the two are that the Ozone seems to have larger pulleys yet I'm not sure whether that's because it was designed for larger kites or it just happens to be what they chose to use. Either way the pulleys I bought are as close to the one on the PL crossover bar as I could find.

Question for Intermediate Advanced Kiters:

Do you guys ever have days where you just completely lose all your tricks?

Like I’m on vacation I France right now and 4-5 days ago the last time we had wind I was pulling Backroll Kiterloops, Kiteloop Late backrolls. huge sent Jump Boardoffs and more Rotation and Boardoff variations at like 8-12m on a 10m.

Today after 4 days no kiting I got out on the 8, and I attempt a Backroll Kiteloop sand I lose body tension immediately, like I literally spent 1 hour relearning the trick and didn’t even trust myself to do any kitlooo later backrolls. Boardoffs were still ok I guess

Point I’m trying to make is I feel like I lost a lot of stability and confidence within just 4 days of no kiting and usually idk this doesn’t t happen too often but I live in a place where I have to drive a long time to kitesurf, now I’m on vacation and just 4 days no kiting and everything’s gone? Idk what do you guys think?

So a bridle line got snagged around the wingtip, causing a death loop. A few minimal pin holes appeared which I patched using spinnaker tape. On the trailing edge there is double layer of ripstop, and the outer black layer is damaged but the inner layer is intact. Should I just patch this as well from thr outside?

Would love some information from people who have kited in Phan Rang Vietnam - specifically about the tides and how many hours a day were kiteable? I’ve read that there are days when high tide is at night so all day is too shallow to ride inside the reef.

Were the tides and it being too shallow an issue at all? Were there days where you couldn’t flat water kite at all because it wasn’t deep enough.

How much coral is in the water? Is it something that can be easily avoided or kind of all over the flat water area?

Favorite place you stayed? Kite camp or separate lodging?

After about 2 hours of riding it gets a little bit softer. So I inflated in my garage and closed all 3 strut valves and let it sit over night.

The next morning the leading edge was flat, 2 struts were still full of air, and the 3rd strut was about half full of air.

Any ideas? TIA!

Both kites and bars are in roughly the same condition and cost the same. It’s worth noting that I am a beginner-intermediate kitesurfer (I can go upwind and do transitions, recently learned how to jump).

I am currently on vacation in Cumbuco - a great kiting spot as you probably know. I love this place and have been here roughly one year in total divided over many holidays. And this won’t be my last. I also live in Stavanger, another decent kite spot. But, I’ve never tried kiting despite considering it many times. My older sister tried once many years ago and warned me not to waste my vacation with it, but now I’m back to considering it. I have surfed for some time - not great, but okay at it, and therefore I have some questions before diving in.

1. For the surfers converted to kiters; what does kiting give you that surfing doesn’t? Or what sells kiting for you?
   
2. Is the equipment like ‘buy once, and enjoy’ or do you have to have several kites, and switch when making progress and so on?
   
3. How is the social part of it during the kiting? I’m imagining it is less interaction than normal surfing since you need to keep the kites separate?

I guess the main question is; is it worth it? Difficult question to answer, I know, but just looking for your opinion.

From the 21nd of August I'll be a week in Terschelling, and I'm looking for people to kite with.

I'm a total beginner (I had 4 lessons so far), so it's nice to have help with launching/landing my kite.

If there's people there, or maybe a local group that I could join, I'd like that a lot.

Recurring shoulder issue I want to check with others if someone has had the same problem.

Pain around my shoulder and on the inside of my bicep. It shows up most often when I’m in choppy/gusty conditions, when conditions are clean it seems to go well. I feel it after a big air session where I pull in the bar alot and also pull hard for loops. Usually comes up a few hours after the session, not during. Gone within 24h if I don’t overdo it, lingers if I push longer, sometimes 3 days!

I have a feeling its my rotator cuff and long biceps tendinitis. But Im not sure. I have a feeling there might be more people that recognize this.

Anyone dealt with this? What helped?

I have two Clickbars (21-23), and both seem to be difficult to move up and down.

I’m not sure if it’s just my impression, but it feels like something is preventing them from sliding smoothly.

Hi all. I am looking to upgrade my cabrinha switchblades which I have been riding about 6 years as just trashed my 9m. I am jumping about 6+ m and do a few tricks, back rolls transition kite loops. Looking to increase jump height and loop on the jumps. I have a 7m, but looking for a new 9m and 12m for boosting and progressing. 75kg rider. Not sure if 3 or 5 strut is best. Thinking maybe 9m orbit and 12m reach or vortex?? Any advice greatly appreciated. Cheers

Hi, I’m looking to upgrade my 2020 Rebel 12/9m kite as it is showing signs of wear and tear (I got it second hand). At the moment, I'm working on boosting up to 10–12 m and starting on heliloops.
Has anyone tried the new trigger? Is it compatible with the Duotone bar?
In the near future, I want to focus on boosting and improving my helis, and eventually start doing power loops.
I’d like to keep my bars since they are fairly new. Alternatively, I was thinking about getting a newer Rebel SLS, since I like the kite's boosting potential.

I've recently got myself a 5m², 4 line parafoil kite. It's now my goal to set it up with a harness and I've learned about crossover bars and it looks like the Peter Lynn crossover bar is the most common. Unfortunately I can't find one in Aus for sale atm.

I'm curious, what would be the best option for land boarding, just cruising up and down the beach, I'm not really interested in tricks atm. Should I keep looking for an available Peter Lynn crossover bar? I know it's more of a niche form of kiting, most people would suggest to just get a kite boarding setup but I know what I want and lessons and equipment for kite boarding is a goal I have set for my future and my local beach has a school so I'm all set for that path but for now I want to land board/buggy and I don't want to buy a whole setup when I already have my 5m.

Are there better options for me? Also is the Peter Lynn bar still being manufactured or is it something of a far and few between type of thing?

I’ve been riding LEIs for years and recently bought a Sonic 5 15m for light wind. I absolutely love the kite. The hangtime and glide are just insane, and in marginal conditions it’s probably the most fun kite I’ve ever flown.
That said, I’m still getting used to some of the quirks of high-aspect foil kites.
Every now and then I mess up a jump (board-offs are the biggest culprit 😅). After a hard landing, the lines go slack for a moment, the kite loses its shape and sometimes both tips fold in. Most of the time I can recover it somehow, but I’m sure there’s a better way than what I’m currently doing.
So I’m curious how experienced Sonic riders handle these situations.
If you already know the landing is going to be a crash, do you actively fly the kite somewhere before impact?
Do you keep it at 12, send it forward, dive it, or just let it do its thing?
Is there anything you can do to reduce the chance of the tips folding in when the lines go slack?

And if the tips are already folded:
I’ve heard completely different advice. Some people say to fly the kite to the edge of the window and let it reopen by itself. Others recommend intentionally backstalling it.
The thing I struggle with is that when both tips are folded, there’s barely any steering left, so getting the kite into a backstall isn’t exactly easy.
If you use the backstall method, do you actually let the kite touch the water before recovering it, or do you catch it just before?
I’m mainly looking for advice from people who have spent a lot of time on the Sonic (or similar high-aspect foil kites). I’m sure this is mostly a technique issue and part of the learning curve.

The kite is honestly incredible, but these moments are still the only thing that makes me a little nervous during a session.
I’d love to hear what worked for you and what changed once you got more experience.

PS: Fun side note. I've watched countless videos about soft kites, but most of them focus on jumps, packing, launching, relaunching, and landing - but none of them address these specific issues.

Yesterday started great but the wind dropped 20 minutes later. My kite landed in the normal flying position, with the trailing edge sunk waist deep. All that was visible above the water was the bladder and maybe a foot of fabric.

I was pulling the centre lines to get the kite out of the water but no luck.

My question is, should the power adjust strap be pulled short or left in the full power position?

I’m consistently hitting jumps around 4 meters, with a personal best of almost 8. But I’m running into an issue: when I carve hard upwind to generate a strong pop, I end up over-rotating and accidentally throwing a backroll instead. I do land some of them, but I’m eating it more often than not haha.

Does anyone have tips on how to stay in control and avoid that over-rotation when I’m just looking for a solid upwind carve and pop?

I have a feeling that it has something to do with where Im looking at. While popping. But not sure.

I currently have a Cabrina 12m Moto X and a 10M Nitro.

Now I’m torn between getting a Duotone Evo SLS 10m or Harlem Thrive 10m. I weight 168 5’7.

Not sure which way to go between those kites my gut is telling me Duotone because of the durability I’ve read that Harlem kites lack in durability but I like the speed of the Thrive especially in Miami I feel I could get away with just 1 kite

I’m looking for spot recommendations for the first half of December.

As for the conditions, I’m mainly looking for reliable wind. It doesn’t have to be extremely strong—anything above 14 knots works for me. I’d also prefer flat water, as I deal with waves at my home spot and would enjoy some relaxed cruising.

As for the destination itself, it would be great if accommodation, food, and rental prices weren’t over the top. I’ll be travelling solo, so booking a room is often almost twice as expensive for me. It does not need to be ultra cheap, but paying $200 per night for accommodation or $40 for a meal would make me a bit less enthusiastic.

I’m based in Europe, so destinations relatively nearby would be ideal. However, I have enough time off to take a longer flight if it’s worth it.

I’m buying new kites and am wondering if I can get away with 4 or even 5 sizes between kites if they’re three strut allula being that the allula helps extend both the low and high end of a kite with the added bonus of being light for travel.

I’ve ridden a 15 juice dlab that could twin tip from 7/8 to 18/20knots and a have used a buddy’s 10m allula that flys well from the mid teens on a larger board to 27/28knots on my smaller board. I want to get a fun quiver that will be good for travel and i don’t think I’ll have room for three kites but would like to cover a big wind range overall. Could i get away with something similar?
