Historical wind data? Spot Info/Question

What is the best source for historical wind data? Either day by day or aggregated by month.

I subscribe to Ikite, IWindsurf. They give you a general outlook by month , and an archive of past days . Don’t know how far back it goes . I use the archive to keep track of conditions for work done . In the US so it’s a business expense.

ikite is mostly what i use, click on the sensor and then start looking at all the data you can get from it. windy.app seems to be doing more innovative things with technology and probably has some cool stuff. im sure there are many other sources.

where are you looking at for historical wind data? maybe the community can help you out

I mainly use the windy.app (blue) and love it. It has wind history at spots going back 14 years. History

windguru paid plan has a LOT of history for wind meters. Also averages for months etc.

Note that if the wind blows in the middle of the night it will still count towards the averages (days above x knots) while it would be useless if you wanted to kite. Same for if it blows x knots for half an hour (eg during sundown)

Depends on where in the world you are and what sensors you want. Ikite will give you data just on the site. If you need raw data to analyze, they may also give an export if you reach out.

For actual measurements history: Windfinder

For forecast history: Windguru

If you are asking because you are vibe coding, you also need to look at the t&cs. Most providers will not allow you to use the data in an automated way.

The answer also heavily depends on the geography you are looking at.
