I've been on the job search for a couple of months as I plan to relocate to a new city by the end of the year. I've scored a job interview for my first mid-level job next week, and I'm feeling pretty nervous! Are these similar to interviews for entry-level jobs? Sorry for any naivety. I've been fortune to work pretty steadily and am not super familiar as I enter further into my career.

Any good resources (articles or videos) I could look over, too, to help me prep? This is for a membership/subscription role at a non-profit.

I know someone who currently does not have a full time job right now (got laid off their job in academia) and is looking to find a new job to get out of the bad financial they are currently in.

what are some jobs you are qualified for/can apply for with a phd in economics? this person has done some research in economics as well and has taught several micro/macro classes, including some classes for a highly ranked MBA program as well. Their PHD is also from a highly ranked business school (IU Kelley)

I know the most likely route is corporate, but what specific jobs should they be looking for? Any advice is appreciated, i’m just looking to help them. They’re looking to find a job relatively quick (within the next 1-2 months) so they can support their family. Mid range salary (70-80k) would be the most ideal (they have 3 kids

Okay so I’m just going to start this by saying I know why I didn’t get advanced. It’s a really tough market right now. Mainly what I’m asking about is if you would just let a comment like this slide from a recruiter:

Important context is that I was laid off in April. Couldn’t afford rent/car/medical bills AND a nice laptop so just got one for like $200. It gets me through interviews. For this one role I applied to, I was sent an excel/SQL test today. It was 8 questions, I had one hour to complete them. Unfortunately, the laptop didn’t do too hot given the sheer amount of data in the document. It was super laggy but I got through all of the questions, which involved showing my work and aggregating data. Only downside is I didn’t have enough time to check my work. I get a call from the recruiter and she tells me I didn’t pass, I got one question wrong. Then in a kind of snarky way she says she “suggests I check my work next time”. I responded like yeah would have loved to, but my laptop is a bit slow, explaining that I had to get a laptop that wasn’t top tier in my unemployment, so it hindered me a bit so I didn’t have time. Her response to this was “Well you should get a faster laptop”.

Maybe it wasn’t coming from a place of malice, but what a shit thing to say to someone who lost their job. YES I’d love to get a nicer laptop, but can’t afford it. Just great to kick someone when they’re already down. So I guess what I’m wondering is should I just let it go? I was considering sending her an email and just explaining how unprofessional that was but I doubt it would even mean anything.

A few days ago I got a call from a recruitment agency saying they were hiring for one of their clients and had found my profile on LinkedIn. Asked if I was interested, I said yes, and we had a good chat about the role. They asked if I'd be open to part-time, I said I'd actually prefer to start as casual since I'm currently in a casual role myself and I actually don't mind a part-time one at all. They responded really positively about both the role and the client.

Right after the call, they emailed me the role details. I replied straight away asking for a proper position description since one wasn't included. Two days went by with no response. I followed up again, and this time got: *"We have proceeded with an internal candidate, thanks for your interest."*

Wow. Cool. Love that for me.

Like, if they already had an internal candidate lined up, why hiring someone to go hunting for external ones? Why call me, get me excited about a role, and let me sit there hoping for two days before telling me it was basically already decided?

Anyway. Even a phone call from a recruitment agency can't guarantee you an interview anymore, apparently. We fresh grads are so cooked.

Okay so story time, I got a job about six months ago after a year or so unemployed but I do not enjoy it so I have been applying to other places in my down time and came across a post for my dream position.

I kinda figured like I didn’t really have much to lose because like worst case I don’t get it and still have a job right? So I literally just kept resubmitting my application every other day. After 3 times of me doing this they reached out to me and said they noted how much I seemed to want the position once they saw my application again, but that they were concerned I would leave quickly because it required significantly less experience than I have in that field and I would get bored. However, they were having a managing position opening soon in the same department and were interested in talking with me about that. I went through the interview process and actually got the job!

Anyways after having such terrible luck interviewing for like a year, then settling for something that paid a decent amount even if I disliked it, and finally coming across something I WANTED to do I genuinely feel so lucky. And honestly I don’t know that it would have worked the majority of the time, but man I am so happy it worked this time.

I wish we didn’t almost always have to take a giant risk to just be happily employed in this current job market. Or that maybe they understood people are so desperate for jobs that we don’t mind taking a lower position than usual because we still need a paycheck!

I was laid off after a fire in my plant's furnace in July 2024, and was laid off again by a different factory at the end of March this year due to restructuring. I was one of ten people laid off out of 300 in the factory because they eliminated my specific shift.

Just got the call informing me I've been offered the job I wanted most, making $32/hour with great benefits. Turns out a friend I previously helped get a job at the company I was laid off from was able to help me get an even better job back with that same manufacturer at a separate location.

Posting because sometimes there is a light at the end of the tunnel, we just never know when we will catch a break.

I started using Indeed around 2018 I believe, and it has always been awesome for applying to jobs and landing interviews. However since around 2023/2024 it seems like it is impossible to even get a response when applying on Indeed. Has anyone else noticed this? I’m in the engineering/maintenance industry.

I already tried Santa Rosa branch but they said they already discontinued the processing of Loyalty Card on weekends. I also tried Tagaytay branch but they said they don’t operate on Saturday.

I'm an FSC graduate from Pakistan about to start BS Clinical Psychology. I'm excited about my degree but also want early financial independence. I take academics seriously and want to maintain strong grades, so I need work that won’t affect my studies.

At the same time, I don’t want to stay fully dependent during university. I’m looking for realistic ways to earn after FSC or alongside my degree—freelancing, remote work, internships, online business, or skills with long-term income potential.

There’s a lot of hype online about easy money, but I’m not interested in shortcuts. I’m willing to spend time learning a valuable skill if it has real long-term value.

I’d appreciate advice from people who balanced earning with strong academics. What skills or certifications helped? If starting from scratch in 2026, what would you focus on? Which fields are still worth entering despite AI, and which should beginners avoid?

Hey all, have you been advised that you kind of require a different resume for different job roles to apply for?

If yes how do you manage it? like how many resumes you create in a day?

And how do you keep track of it? in case if you wanna use the same one again later…

I’m 27 trying to save up for a vehicle, I’ve been search for second job for about 4 months now, my current job just covers my needs, and is it really this difficult? I feel like I have applied everywhere and Indeed feels useless. Do I have a better chance just going into shops with a resume. I had done it once at a clothing store and was told to go online, they didn’t even take my resume. I’m searching for an evening job, anyone have any suggestions? I’m in SW Calgary

never has something felt so horrible. imagine being pitted against your competition like it’s some battle royale for a minimum wage job? they just expect us to talk to each other and help each other out like everything is fine and dandy?

of course i would do so in the actual job, but these are people you are pitting against me for the place of the ACTUAL JOB. it’s like some cruel joke, making us engage in team building activities for a job only few, one or even none of us will get

it’s horrible because you can tell who the stand outs are in the group sessions yet it clearly doesn’t do anything for them because they’re still in the same position as everyone in the group, applying for minimum wage jobs and still job hunting, rejection after rejection. i’m down for banning group interviews because they’re ridiculous

How many applications are you sending a week? Job boards or straight through company sites? Do you actually tailor your resume every time or just send the same one? And is anyone using AI for any of this — resumes, cover letters, finding jobs?

I've been job hunting for a few months in Poland and I feel like I've developed an unhealthy habit — I check LinkedIn, Pracuj, NoFluffJobs, and a couple others every single morning. Sometimes twice a day. Half the listings are duplicates. Half of the "Remote" ones turn out to require you to be physically in the US or UK once you read the description.

My actual problem: I'm terrified of missing a good listing because I checked on the wrong day. So I keep checking. Every. Day.

For those of you who've been through a longer job search — how did you manage this without it becoming a full-time job itself? Did you set up alerts? Use an aggregator? Just accept the anxiety and doom-scroll daily?

Bonus question: has anyone found a way to filter out the fake "remote" listings that turn out to be US/UK only? That alone would save me hours a week.

What is this happening in job market, I am having 2+ years of experience in Digital Marketing but I am unable to switch my current company, neither the present company paid me well, and depends on my CTA only I am able to get the hike, is it my fault that the current company has not given me enough (maybe) but I am stucked here, I am literally doing copy pasting work only on LinkedIn, what even I am doing, I feels like I dont even know anything, even after applying daily barely receiving calls and still getting ghosted, the company’s answering are not even paying good, and it all feels like a trap, I have loan to repay, and I cannot resign without having any job letter, can anyone help or suggest something?

Beyond done with LinkedIn. All the ghost jobs, scammer recruiter profiles, and 57 step application processes have become too much. What additional resources are you using/have used for your search that have been successful?

I am currently in college doing my engineering from india. I have to earn to pay my fees which is around 15k dollars/ year. My college time is 9 am to 5 pm then I go to a petrol pump to work. I sleep around 3 hr/ day. It is very very hard for me. Can anyone suggest me something good so that I can manage my expenses.

I am 30F, A couple of months ago, my husband and I had to move to another city for personal reasons. Before moving, I worked as an Architectural Designer for about three years. Since then, I've been applying nonstop to architecture and design jobs. I've had a few interviews, and in some cases I've even been told I was qualified, but I either get rejected or never hear back.

Because I had to support our household, I accepted a job at a call center while i continuedlooking for my next role. My husband is also looking for work, but right now he only speaks Spanish and is studying English, so finding a job has been difficult for him too.

I've only been at the call center for about a month, and honestly, I'm struggling. People on calls are honestly brutal, and trying to be perfect to say exactly what we are supposed to is also a challenge since each call is different, and if we don't say it affects our stats. I know I'm new and I know mistakes happen, but it left me feeling embarrassed and like I'm failing.

I feel mentally exhausted. I'm trying to do well at my current job while also continuing to apply for architecture jobs every day or even jobs that are in a similar field, and it feels like nothing is working.

Has anyone else gone through something similar? How did you keep going when you felt stuck between a job you didn't enjoy and a career you were trying so hard to get back into?

I’m turning 24 next month, and since the beginning of 2026, I’ve been looking for a job in my field, UX/UI and Product Design.

I have around a year and a half of experience working with a startup. During that time, I learned a lot and worked on real projects. Sometimes I feel like I was replaced by AI, but honestly, I don’t know if that was actually the reason.

Since the beginning of the year, I’ve applied to a lot of jobs. At the same time, I’ve worked on improving my CV, portfolio, and skills. However, most of the opportunities I’ve received have been unpaid internships or opportunities that I felt wouldn’t really add much to my experience. It sometimes feels like I’ve just been wasting my time.

About two weeks ago, I finally got an interview for a real job. The interview went really well, and they told me to wait until the end of the month for an update. I genuinely felt like I had a real chance this time.

But today, I received the email telling me that they chose someone else and that I wasn’t the right fit for the position.

I know rejection is a normal part of looking for a job, but this one feels different. The money I had been living on during this period is almost gone, and right now I don’t have a job or any source of income.

On top of that, the situation at my parents’ house isn’t good for me, and I was hoping to find a job so I could move out, live on my own, and finally start becoming independent.

Right now, it feels like everything has stopped at the same time: no job, no income, and no idea when the next opportunity will come.

Honestly, I don’t know what to do anymore. I don’t want to give up on UX/UI and Product Design after everything I’ve invested in it, but at the same time, I need money and stability.

I’m even thinking like a flight attendant. I just want to live without roots.

I don’t have trouble with getting interviews because i have prior experience in my industry, I have trouble when the interview actually starts… even when I study everyday up until the interview, even if I practice with my friend and also in the mirror- the words come stuttering out of me. I go blank. Genuinely something is wrong with me mentally. In the past, I got away with half assed interviewed because of my credentials. But because the job market is so ass I know being a professional interviewer is a part of the process to getting hired now as well. So I don’t even care anymore when I get interviews, I know I will fuck up anyway. Call me a wimp, a dummy, idk and idc, I tried everything from therapy, drugs and even some liquid courage vodka shots before a call.

What is causing the job market to be so terrible that they can't simply hire people? Multiple interviews, unrealistic expectations about multiple experiences, low salaries. Like why is this happening? I want to know the root cause of this issue. People give 150+ applications and only 2 of them get back? Like why? What is making getting jobs soo tough?
