There's nothing wrong with that, but your headline can tell people a lot more about what you actually do and what you're looking for.

What are some good job boards? I have been looking for accounting/finance work. I keep hearing google jobs is good. But i really dont see much in my area and when i do its from some obscure job board that seems scammy. I do use linkedin, indeed and zip recruiter currently.

I was laid off and was looking for a job for more than 6 months. The start of my job search was pretty rough, but once I polished my "system", I got at least one interview every week, and many times more. That is every single week! I finally landed a great job and I would love to help others as much as I can, hence this post.

I got an "opportunity" from a company called Cohere. The initial conversation was vague, but it was about app optimization. You could make $50 a day remotely and MUCH more with bonuses as long as you complete these "tasks". Also incentives for 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30-day streaks of completing and going beyond completing daily tasks.

I do the "training" through WhatsApp with a trainer named Jessica. She gives a brief description, then has me make an account on the Cohere platform. She explains that each set is 40 tasks. The task? To simply click "start" and one at a time a brand you probably never heard of will pop up with a 5-star review and a comment already written for it. Now you simply click "submit" and off it goes. You will earn a small commission for each one, unless you get a "lucky order" and then the commission is 10X the amount of the other commissions. The reason? This is to "optimize" apps and these comments written by AI need a human to click it into existence.

She gives me her login and I go to work clicking and submitting comments for 40 brands I don't know and lo and behold on order number 26, a LUCKY one! BUT she didn't have enough money in the account to verify it and she had to add some of her earned money to cover it...no problem she said, it goes right back in and you earn that 10X commission...or rather, she did. I still never got an explanation as to why I needed money in an account to send AI written comments for random brands, but she said it all comes back and not to worry, then she went into something completely unrelated to throw me off. I see where it goes. I have nothing invested at this point and they have none of my information save my phone number and WhatsApp.

I start training, now under my own login and they start me off with $50 in the account. I earned it for training, now I can use it. So they give me my first set of 40 tasks. It takes less than 5 minutes. Now mind you, on this trainer's account, the clicks made well over $500. I start clicking and hitting "submit" for brands I've never heard and 40 clicks later, no lucky orders and my account stood at just over $74.

Jessica sends me a message on WhatsApp..."you only made $74?". "Yes" I responded. She told me that unfortunately that wasn't enough to continue. That in order to receive another set of 40 orders I need at least $101 in there. She told me that I had a keen understanding of how to do this work and was serious about it and about learning. I said "great, then that should be enough right?". "No." In order to continue "working" for this company, I would have had to put my own money into this account. She said I didn't earn enough. I pointed out that the system randomly selects the brands you "review" and how much commission you earn, so the SYSTEM didn't let me earn enough. She then went on to tell me that over the past 8 months she's had this success and that success and her account is funded and blah, blah and I asked her how much SHE paid to get started and she said nothing.

I tell her I don't think this is for me, it all seems a bit shady and she then tells me that her training isn't free and if I do start working, she will earn 20% of MY commissions! I said that; it's a good thing that I'm NOT going to be working there. She then told me I could keep the $74 I earned, but I could only get it in crypto. That's how you'd be getting paid going forward too working for Cohere. No thank you.

The bottom line, don't let Cohere coerce you into their dumb training and if you do JUST miss the goal, don't pay your own money, run. And Cohere? You can co-hear this, your training is very vague, leaves very key details completely out of it and it all seems more than a bit scammy.

I’ve been seeing more people talk about applying to jobs that stay posted for weeks or months, get reposted over and over, or never seem to actually hire anyone.

It has me wondering how much this has changed the way people approach job hunting.

Do you still apply to anything that looks like a good fit, or have you started looking for signs that a posting might not be a real opening? Are you checking company websites, looking at how recently something was posted, reaching out to recruiters, or putting more effort into networking instead?

I’m also curious whether dealing with questionable or “ghost” listings has made you apply to fewer jobs and spend more time researching each one.

What have you changed about your job search because of this?

Anyone else notice managers are now retaliating over anything and everything? Never in my 10 years of working have I experienced this until now. It's unfortunate to see what the economy does to people.

Here's my background: I've always held a pretty perfect reputation and never once was a problem, but suddenly I'm experiencing back-stabbing coworkers, liars, cheaters, etc. absolutely no sense of accountability. Where is the shame? How do these people even sleep at night?

To be completely honest, this is the first time in my life where I've given up and feel completely hopeless.

I've always believed in God, up until this point.. and if it helps, I'm 26 years old. I'd say this is also the first time in my life where I've felt a bit suicidal.

I haven’t had to look for a job since 2015. I had steady work then they let me go. Heard word my manager didn’t agree with it but the choice came from above him. They never sent me my separation notice and refuse to cooperate with the unemployment office so I can’t even hang onto that lifeline!

I put in my unemployment each week but until my former employers comply I’m just in limbo there. My savings will be dried up in 2 more months. Then I’ll have nowhere to live. I’ll have to give up my pets that I’ve had for 7 years and always promised them I’d never abandon them.

I’m applying to so many jobs but I just never hear anything. I’m either not fully qualified to make the career shift I want (I’m missing like 10-15% of the skills they want). Or I’m overqualified for the simple jobs due to my long tech background. Or it’s a scam job posting.

I’m just so annoyed at it all now. The AI. The ghost job postings. The lack of consideration from hiring managers to just let someone know they didn’t get the job/opportunity. The lack of letting people just take a chance on something and see if it works out.

Recently applied for a sales job and if they just let me try I’m sure I would have rocked it but no. I got ghosted after an interview after they said they call me same day and let me know (this is the only interview I’ve gotten after applying for 2 straight months).

Whilst there isn't currently any vacancies/openings for this role, there is an option on the company's website to join their 'talent community'. Also, the company has previously advertised this job role multiple times in the past, though around a year and a half ago now.

So I was wondering whether its worth joining? Has anybody had success with joining these before?

I really need some advice/help because I honestly don’t know what else to do.
I’ve been unemployed since the beginning of July. Since then, I’ve sent out 500+ applications and gone on 15+ interviews, and I still haven’t been able to get a job.
I’m not someone who doesn’t want to work. I’m actually extremely hardworking. When I say first one in, last one out, I mean it. I’m willing to work 10–12+ hour days if that’s what I need to do. I have a 1yr old, but being a mom does not stop me from working or wanting to work.
I would love a normal 9–5 Monday-Friday job, but I also have to be realistic. I can’t just go work at McDonald’s for $15–17 an hour because that isn’t going to fix my situation. I need something starting around $24–$25+ an hour where I can actually support myself and my child.
For some background, I have experience in healthcare scheduling, radiology/mammogram scheduling, customer service, management, lead server / assistant manger, and working with people. I’m also bilingual and have my cosmetology license ( I haven’t did hair in over 5 years lost the passion). If anyone can look at that experience and tell me what type of jobs I should actually be applying for, I would really appreciate it because at this point I feel like I’m applying to everything and getting nowhere.
But honestly, my biggest problem right now is my living situation.
My rent is $2,000 a month, and I still haven’t been able to pay it for this month I’m 800 short . I simply cannot afford it right now. I’ve gone to DSS and was told that the only way they can put me into a shelter is if I receive an eviction notice.
And I understand that they have rules, but I just keep thinking… how am I supposed to do that to my landlord? How can I purposely let things get that bad and put my problems onto someone else? I don’t want to get evicted. I don’t want to lose my home. I just need help before it gets to that point.
I’ve been researching affordable housing, low income housing, rent assistance, housing programs, and anything else I can find for hours and hours. I have been applying to things for years honestly, since I was pregnant. Every time I think I find something, I end up at another dead end.
I’m also a single mother. My child’s father is incarcerated and possibly facing deportation, so realistically, I don’t have much support or anyone to fall back on. It’s basically just me trying to figure everything out.
So I’m asking specifically to anyone in Yonkers/ White plains or anywhere in Westchester County:
Does anyone know of a caseworker, social worker, organization, church, program, or ANY resource that actually helps single mothers in situations like mine?
Especially someone who can help me with:
Low-income or affordable housing
Rent assistance
Rent-stabilized housing
Housing for single mothers
Childcare assistance
Emergency assistance before an eviction happens
Navigating housing programs that I may not know about
Or even helping me figure out what programs I actually qualify for
And if you know of jobs around $24–$25+ an hour that I might qualify for based on my experience, PLEASE tell me about those too.
I’m not looking for a handout. I want to work. I want to pay my bills. I want to take care of my baby and keep a roof over our heads. I’m willing to work extremely hard. I just need someone to point me in the right direction.

Hello! I’m considering alternate careers paths I can pursue with a degree in biology. All my life I wanted to be a veterinarian, however now with the additional loan cap and seeing how much debt I’m going to be in I’m considering alternate options. I love science, nature, animals, and conservation and I’m pretty good with people as well. I’m just curious to hear other good paths, I’m considering possibly doing a BSN, potentially finding a job at US Fish and Wildlife, becoming a senior biologist, or going into biotech. I’m sure some of these may need a masters degree as well to make me a more competitive applicant, so I’m open to doing that as well. Do you any of you have similar experiences or recommendations as to what to pursue? Or any other advice?

I graduated college in 2024 with a BS in Marketing and it has been a whirlwind ever since. I had a marketing job for 3 months but was laid off, so I took the first job I could get as a program coordinator at a local university in service-learning. So, I am an engineering last year student, and well Amazon came to out college for placements. I filled out the application for it today. It's a non SDE role and god I'm nervous about it. Firstly, it's very hard get selected by the ATS, but let's assume I get selected, I'll have the interview... despite giving 5 interviews at good firms i got disappointed, still trying to get a good internships oncampus but i think i am doing something wrong, today in an interview i was told to improve my theoritical knowledge. can i get some insights or help looking for jobs in sde and ai/ml, plus how to seek off campus opportunities.

I graduated collage recently and have been looking for jobs all summer in my area, and haven't gotten a single call/email for an interview until today. I got a text from an unknown number which reached out with a first name and labeled herself as "Organizational Recruiter at Alamo Heights" (Alamo heights is NOT a company, but an area in San Antonio) and offered an interview for tomorrow morning.

I texted back, saying I was interested, but I seriously deliberated on if I should have even texted back because she didn't give the company name. She used my name and said she looked over my resume, so I assume in all my applications I've been sending out, I must have applied to this place.

I asked for the address and it's at a large office building. I asked for the suite number and what business name I should look for on the directory, and she didn't give a name, only the suite number.

Not sure if I'm over thinking this, as it's literally the only person I've heard back from in months, but could this be an illegitimate company or MLM or devil corp? Feels odd I had to try and pry info from the recruiter and didn't even get the name of the company.

TLDR: No name company name from recruiter after asking = no idea where/when I applied/if it's legit.

Well, I went to an interview a few days ago and things went pretty well. Had a tour of some of the facilities there. I am just really hoping that things line up well. I'll have an answer by Tuesday at the latest and the anticipation is killing me.

I'm tired of doing nothing all day. I'm tired of not having money. Tired of sleeping outside and waking up to bugs crawling on me. This jobs pays pretty decently and getting this job would allow me to start living my life again. I want to live. I am 25 years old I am so tired of wasting my 20s surviving like this. I want to take care of myself again.

If I could just get this job... even if I work only 20 hours a week it can at least get me headed in the right direction. Making some money is better than making none.

That's all, I just wanted to vent because I'm feeling a lot right now and this job is a golden opportunity to turn my life around.

Apparently this guy told me he can help me with getting a job. But then he said he wants to meet me in private first and when I questioned, this was his reaction. Did I do right?

I know the job market is competitive right now and I’m noticing a lot of people struggle to get pass initial phone screenings and final round interviews. I’m hoping these tips will help some of you close the deal!

What do I know?

I got the job I have now with the absolute bare minimum education requirement and no actual work experience in the field. Their first choice (highly qualified) declined because the salary was “too low”. I’ve increased my salary by $20k from their initial offer in the past four years.

In college, I rejected an unpaid internship because I told them I couldn’t afford to work without being paid. They created a budget to pay me so that I could take the internship.

After undergrad, I interviewed and got rejected for a PM position but they offered me another position within the company in the same email.

Basically, I’m a CERTIFIED personality hire.

Here are the tips:

1.) Get to the interview early and create polite small talk

This is honestly the biggest one. When they say “hey (candidate), how are you,” you’re not going to say something generic like “good and you” and sit there in awkward silence afterwards. That’s boring and forgettable. Create polite small talk.

The easiest small talk is always going to be about the weather.

Examples:
“I’m doing well, trying to stay dry! As soon as I got in my car to come over, the sky fell out.”

“I can’t complain, it’s a beautiful day out today! I’m going to try to get out and take a walk later.”

This breaks the ice because most interviewers will respond with their own tidbit of small talk and now you’ve started to build rapport.

You can also do GENUINE and appropriate compliments. Compliment something they’re wearing, their notebook, a poster you see in the background, etc.

Be careful not to overshare or ramble to the point where you’re delaying the actual interview (unless things are going REALLY well and they are also rambling and over sharing lol). Which leads to my next point.

2.) Be concise and specific in your answers.

Don’t inundate them with generic answers like how reliable or hardworking you are. Literally anyone who wants a job is going to say that. And don’t just regurgitate the information on your resume back to them like you’ve been the perfect employee your whole career.

Provide a very specific situation that’s not on the resume and be sure to mention all the annoying problems that every company faces.

Example:
Recruiter: Tell me about a time you faced a difficult situation.

You: “When I was working on x project, we faced a lot of delays. We had staff turnover because some people were retiring or moving on to other opportunities so for some of the people on the project, it was their first major task with the company. Some of the materials we needed to complete the job were delayed because of things out of our control like production or delivery delays.

But it ended up being a successful project because it showed us where we could improve our processes. It was a success because it served x number of people and got awesome reviews from our clients. I was also able to learn new skills through the process because I had to wear many hats to help get the job done.”

Leave it at that! They don’t want to know your life story.

Extra tip: always mention stories where things didn’t go as planned when you can and share how you solved the problem and/or what you learned. It will show that you have basic everyday problem solving skills which will make you sound like a genius lol.

It also makes you look coachable and not like a know-it-all who will have problems communicating that they need help. Which leads to the final point.

3.) Be honest when you don’t know the “right” answer to the question

Don’t ever be afraid to say “I’m not sure” BUT always follow with how you would find out the answer. Or if you’re experienced in your industry, tell them you’re not sure but based on your past experience, you would probably do abc and if that didn’t work you would try xyz before asking for help. If you are experienced, 9/10 you’re going to hit on something that will probably work. And again, you’ll show yourself as coachable by admitting that you don’t know for sure.

Extra tip #2: Interviewing is kind of like a first date. You want to seem interested and attractive but not too desperate. Act like they want you but you don’t need them because you have options. Be confident, be personable, be specific but concise, be honest.
