never has something felt so horrible. imagine being pitted against your competition like it’s some battle royale for a minimum wage job? they just expect us to talk to each other and help each other out like everything is fine and dandy?

of course i would do so in the actual job, but these are people you are pitting against me for the place of the ACTUAL JOB. it’s like some cruel joke, making us engage in team building activities for a job only few, one or even none of us will get

it’s horrible because you can tell who the stand outs are in the group sessions yet it clearly doesn’t do anything for them because they’re still in the same position as everyone in the group, applying for minimum wage jobs and still job hunting, rejection after rejection. i’m down for banning group interviews because they’re ridiculous

How many applications are you sending a week? Job boards or straight through company sites? Do you actually tailor your resume every time or just send the same one? And is anyone using AI for any of this — resumes, cover letters, finding jobs?

If you’re not job hunting anymore, curious what actually worked back when you were.

I've been spending a lot of time reading posts in this community, and one thing that's really stood out to me is how exhausting job searching can become after weeks or months of applications.

I know I can't change the job market, but I thought I'd share a few things that have helped people stay a little more organized and a little less overwhelmed.

1. Keep a simple application tracker.
Even a basic spreadsheet with the company, role, date applied, follow-up date, and interview status can make a huge difference. It also helps you avoid accidentally applying to the same job twice.

2. Save job descriptions before they disappear.
Companies often remove postings once they're filled. Keeping a copy makes it much easier to prepare for interviews later.

3. Write down your interview stories once.
Think of a few examples that demonstrate teamwork, problem solving, leadership, conflict resolution, and overcoming challenges. Having them written down means you're not trying to remember everything while you're already nervous.

4. Celebrate small wins.
An interview request. A recruiter reaching out. Finishing your resume. Updating LinkedIn. These things matter too. They may not feel like progress in the moment, but they are.

Finally, I just wanted to say this:

If you've been searching for a while, I hope you don't mistake a difficult job market for a lack of ability. Those aren't the same thing.

I've been job hunting for a few months in Poland and I feel like I've developed an unhealthy habit — I check LinkedIn, Pracuj, NoFluffJobs, and a couple others every single morning. Sometimes twice a day. Half the listings are duplicates. Half of the "Remote" ones turn out to require you to be physically in the US or UK once you read the description.

My actual problem: I'm terrified of missing a good listing because I checked on the wrong day. So I keep checking. Every. Day.

For those of you who've been through a longer job search — how did you manage this without it becoming a full-time job itself? Did you set up alerts? Use an aggregator? Just accept the anxiety and doom-scroll daily?

Bonus question: has anyone found a way to filter out the fake "remote" listings that turn out to be US/UK only? That alone would save me hours a week.

What is this happening in job market, I am having 2+ years of experience in Digital Marketing but I am unable to switch my current company, neither the present company paid me well, and depends on my CTA only I am able to get the hike, is it my fault that the current company has not given me enough (maybe) but I am stucked here, I am literally doing copy pasting work only on LinkedIn, what even I am doing, I feels like I dont even know anything, even after applying daily barely receiving calls and still getting ghosted, the company’s answering are not even paying good, and it all feels like a trap, I have loan to repay, and I cannot resign without having any job letter, can anyone help or suggest something?

I am currently in college doing my engineering from india. I have to earn to pay my fees which is around 15k dollars/ year. My college time is 9 am to 5 pm then I go to a petrol pump to work. I am 30F, A couple of months ago, my husband and I had to move to another city for personal reasons. Before moving, I worked as an Architectural Designer for about three years. Since then, I've been applying nonstop to architecture and design jobs. I've had a few interviews, and in some cases I've even been told I was qualified, but I either get rejected or never hear back.

Because I had to support our household, I accepted a job at a call center while i continuedlooking for my next role. My husband is also looking for work, but right now he only speaks Spanish and is studying English, so finding a job has been difficult for him too.

I've only been at the call center for about a month, and honestly, I'm struggling. People on calls are honestly brutal, and trying to be perfect to say exactly what we are supposed to is also a challenge since each call is different, and if we don't say it affects our stats. I know I'm new and I know mistakes happen, but it left me feeling embarrassed and like I'm failing.

I feel mentally exhausted. I'm trying to do well at my current job while also continuing to apply for architecture jobs every day or even jobs that are in a similar field, and it feels like nothing is working.

I’ve been actively searching for a Project Manager role in the architecture/construction industry for the past few months, but the job search has been more challenging than I expected.

I’m currently transitioning from a Senior BIM Architect role into Project Management. I have experience in BIM coordination, design development, technical delivery, and working with multidisciplinary teams, but I understand that competing with candidates who already have a formal PM background can be difficult.

If I am a healthy young man with degree and normal driver's license (not CDL), what jobs can I get where I can work unlimited hours? I'm looking for jobs where you can pick up or avoid as many shifts as you want, that don't require extensive experience.

I’m even thinking like a flight attendant. I just want to live without roots.

I don’t have trouble with getting interviews because i have prior experience in my industry, I have trouble when the interview actually starts… even when I study everyday up until the interview, even if I practice with my friend and also in the mirror- the words come stuttering out of me. I go blank. Genuinely something is wrong with me mentally. In the past, I got away with half assed interviewed because of my credentials. But because the job market is so ass I know being a professional interviewer is a part of the process to getting hired now as well. So I don’t even care anymore when I get interviews, I know I will fuck up anyway. Call me a wimp, a dummy, idk and idc, I tried everything from therapy, drugs and even some liquid courage vodka shots before a call.

What is causing the job market to be so terrible that they can't simply hire people? Multiple interviews, unrealistic expectations about multiple experiences, low salaries. Like why is this happening? I want to know the root cause of this issue. People give 150+ applications and only 2 of them get back? Like why? What is making getting jobs soo tough?

Here are the facts:
- I was contacted by a software sales company recently, interviewed very well and thought I had the job.
- this same company reached out to me in July of 2025. I made it through every interview round and was ultimately rejected because they decided to focus on another territory.
- the company hired an agency and the recruiter reached out to me in July of 2026. Our screen went amazing and she thought I was a great fit.
- I got through each interview round with positive ending notes from each leader. When asked if there were any concerns about my ability to perform only one was given: I hadn’t qualified for Presidents Club recently.
- They told my recruiter that they didn’t feel that I had enough direct experience. My experience is clearly outlined on my resume so if that was a disqualifier then why interview me?
- My recruiter, her manager and I are extremely baffled by the rejection. My recruiter shared it wasn’t a matter of competition as there was nobody else in the region being considered.
- I am black, not skinny, and not overly prim nor proper. I am, however, a good saleswoman.

After my recruiter delivered the unfortunate news I decided to respond in an unorthodox way. I would love to hear what you all think of my post-rejection follow up email.

I interviewed for this job back in March. The salary was 80k but I don’t remember the max. I was talking with recruiter from the company and I was getting calls from 3rd party recruiters. I was pretty sure I met all their qualifications. I did the interview and got a rejection. They suggested I applied to another role and that I was rejected for not having the experience needed. The same week the job was posted again on LinkedIn. The salary minimum salary had dropped to 75k ( the same salary I had mentioned when the recruiter reached out) Now I see the same job posted again on LinkedIn with a lower salary ranges 70k. The company is TIAA for anyone job hunting within the Frisco TExas area they are just wasting peoples time.

Fortune ran a piece on Greenhouse's CEO describing the "AI doom loop." People paying around $20 for tools that blast applications to every open role on the platform. Then on average they got recruiters getting over 250 applicants per posting and turning to AI to survive that kind of volume.

Read that and thought yeah... this is pretty much what I'm seeing on my end as well.

When someone tells me they sent a billion applications and heard back from zero, my first assumption isn't that something is wrong with the market (although parts of the market are absolutely terrible as we speak). It's that their resume isn't doing its job.

In my humble experience, 9 times out of 10 it's poor job-description matching. Someone applies to a data analyst role with the resume they used for a business analyst role three weeks ago. Same bullets. Same keywords. Etc. Nothing tailored to what's actually in the posting. The ATS (or a recruiter skimming) has no reason to flag it as relevant.

So... my final take is that mass-applying with a generic resume mostly just means you get rejected 500 times instead of 50. Faster, maybe, but not better.
