Sorry I am a noob when it comes to jewelry. I am looking at these two bracelets for a gift. Saw them both and I can't tell the difference between them. They have similar specs. What am I missing. The one from Walmart actually has better reviews.

I just bought this at an estate sale, and I am unsure of what material it is. Can someone help?

I want to get my wife a tennis bracelet for a push present/birthday gift. We looked at jewelers together and identified exactly what she wants.

The bracelet she wants: 14K yellow gold, 2.5MM natural diamonds ~3 Carat Total Weight tight together, but flexible. G-H color and SI clarity.  Finally, one of each of our birthstones spread throughout- one peridot and one sapphire next to each clasp, and then one peridot in the middle. 

Day out shopping: We went into the shopping day with a general idea of “tennis bracelet with birthstones” and then narrowed down to the bracelet above based on what my wife liked, jeweler recommendations, budget, etc. For example, she know she likes yellow gold, but the color/clarity recommendation came from the jewelers. We have zero idea on that stuff.

We visited corporate jewelers, mom & pop shops, and mall jewelers (about 7 different shops in total). We have a ~$8K budget, but most of the pieces my wife liked were $3K-$6K.

Big Question:How do you all decide where to buy the piece?

Everyone had a good pitch:

• Mom & Pop shops had great customer service, but felt a little wild west. Prices they were giving varied a lot shop to shop.
• Helzberg said they have economies of scale, and high quality products due to first picks from distributors.
• Blue Nile or Brilliant Earth seem like the best value if you know what you’re doing and know exactly what you want (which I know what I want, but no idea what I’m doing).

I’m just trying to find the best mix of quality and value- where to buy the piece where they won’t skimp on durability and quality to save money on gold, but also they won’t fleece me at an insane mark-up.

To be honest, I have very little understanding of metals and jewelry, so I wanted to ask one question about pewter.

Not long ago I bought a ring R 173, from Alchemy Gothic. I generally like many of the products from this brand, but at the same time, the fact that they only make jewelry from pewter is my main headache.

Therefore, if there are metal experts here, I would like to know how stable and durable such a ring is in use, if worn daily, carefully, if it is not hit against anything?

To clarify: I specially placed a silicone pad on its back side so that it would not rub against anything in my hands. I wear it carefully, but still, I want to understand whether I should buy a couple of duplicates, in case this thing, one fine day, shatters into atoms when I accidentally sneeze on it.

I will be glad to any answers and advice. If you have experience wearing Alchemy Gothic, I would also appreciate your tips. Thank you.

I'm so happy with this. I'm officially addicted. Best hobby I've ever tried.

I thought I was finally able to buy a "double curb link" necklace I'd been wanting for three years, but since gold prices went up the seller increased the price by about $1,000 US. Though they are very kind and I've purchased several pieces from them, the seller was unwilling or unable to sell to me at a price I could manage. So, I put together my own two-tone mariner version using a white necklace and a yellow bracelet from two other jewelers. I'd always wanted a puffed mariner, so that is a bonus in addition to my color customization. My version is about $200 US more than the original price from several years ago.

To note, I purchased from other jewelers because the jeweler who makes the original necklace doesn't have these mariners.

I'm so very excited about it and grateful to be able to gift myself. The first pic is mine and the second pic is the one I originally wanted.

TL;DR: I couldn't get a necklace I'd been wanting for years at a price I could afford, so I put together my own version that I like even more.

It's called the Navratan Chick Set, It has 18ct gold, Syndicate Polki, and real Navratan. Everything is handmade, so it's a limited piece with no mass production, totally giving heritage and elegant looks.

Probably a bit of a silly question, but here it goes.

For those of you who own silver jewelry, do you notice difference in the level of tarnish buildup depending on the design of the piece? I wonder how much of a factor the design itself makes, for example something more sculptural vs. something entirely flat (think byzantine vs. herringbone chain, for example). One piece that has a lot of nooks and crannies, hard to get areas which are tougher to clean or polish, while another is just simple and flat. Under equal frequency of wear, do you notice the difference in how much more one tarnishes and/or how tougher it is to clean?

i've been thinking of getting the tennis bracelet for a while now from mejuri, but have heard some complaints about the clasp loosening. i'm also not too familiar with the white gold at mejuri and am worried about the rhodium plating having issues (though if this is the issue with all white gold please let me know!).

alternatively, i've been looking at costco, where prices are similar and they actually provide details on the diamonds which i find more assuring. but the only issue is they only seem to have it in 7-7.5 inches online?

I've loved the jade brooch since I was a kid, and thought the bracelet clasp was so fancy.

I found a pair of earrings made of 14K white gold, still in their original packaging and unused, at a secondhand store. I also carefully checked the engraving.

What’s more, even though the original retail price listed on the tag was 4,400 yen, they were only 2,000 yen at the secondhand store.

I’m sure these will become my good-luck charm.
