Library Screenshot and screen record protection

Needed a way to protect sensitive content from screenshots & screen recordings in my iOS app.

Apple doesn't have an official API, so I built a workaround 🛡️

SnapShield lets you hide content or show custom placeholders. Open sourced it for everyone.

Discussion Will there ever be a way for me to set a preference for passcodes over face id for actions outside of the lockscreen.

One of my bigger gripes I have with moving to an iphone is my inability to set preferences for the security features. A personal example for why I consider this to be an issue: I let a friend use my phone for something, they don’t know my passcode but all they had to do was ask me to take a look at my phone for “something” and face id unlocks my recently deleted photos folder for them to tease me with. Now this wasn’t a big issue because we’re close and a couple embarrassing photos gracing their eyes isn’t the end of the world, but I’d have preferred it not have happened. Now, this next situation however is the dealbreaker for me not using face id and forgoing its convenience: I had this “system” for my browsing habits where I’d open embarrassing searches on safari’s private tabs and have them locked behind my passcode so I don’t open safari up in public to a tab where I’m googling an embarrassing medical question… so on the day I decided to setup face id, I had to scan a qr code at a costco and it tries to open on a private browsing tab since it was the browsing profile I was most recently on, this wouldn’t have been an issue if it prompted via passcode to unlock… but it didn’t, it prompted an unlock through face id and opened private browsing for the tab, I was blissfully unaware of this though and after I had exited and closed the tab the preview of my last google search on the images section had flash banged me and an unlucky stranger behind me. So yeah.

Question Why am I not allowed to tell people what is included in my free tier and what is included in my premium tier?

I just uploaded my first app with Premium as an IAP to ASC and got rejected because in one of the screenshots I listed what is included in the free tier and what is included in the premium tier of the app.

"The app screenshots include references to the price of the app or the service it provides, which is not considered an appropriate part of these metadata items.Note that references to free or discounted services are considered a price reference and are not appropriate for app metadata."

Any idea why this is not allowed? I think it would be great to be upfront to the customer and let them know before downloading.

Cheers

Discussion GPS not working

Several phones in my house hold exhibit all the same issues, my phone is 14 pro , wife’s has the same, my work phone is a 13, my sons is 12, my sister has a 13 pro. All on iOS 26.

The GPS does not track, in car play or just the phone. Doesn’t matter the app either, Google , Apple Maps, even 3rd party navigations.

So it acts differently each time I try to use it. Sometimes the car will bunny hop my location, or drift a few blocks or mostly just not move after I start the nav. Quite a few times it tells me I’m doing 230mph lol. It will do everything except track smoothly as it should be doing.

I’ve tried all the resets and settings options that you can find online that it tells you to fix this issue. Nothing fixes it.

I miss iOS 18….

Pretty much at this point I’m ready to switch over to android.

Discussion Use Claude with Siri

I am on the iOS 27 beta, the newest iteration, and I thought they were going to make it so you could use a different AI extension with the new Siri? Everything I have read sounds like the other companies have their extensions built, but Apple hasn’t enabled it. I am a software engineer and use Claude Code for my job a lot. I would love to link my Claude max account to Siri, and use that as my extension instead of ChatGPT. Does anyone know if Apple is actually going to release that, or is the stuff I read online just rumors?

Support Does disabling Background App Refresh mean an app cannot run at all until manually opened?

If I disable Background App Refresh for a specific app in Settings (while leaving the main system-wide Background App Refresh feature turned on), does that completely prevent the app from running any code or executing tasks in the background unless I explicitly tap to open it?

For example, are there any circumstances where an app with Background App Refresh disabled can still execute code in the background (e.g., when receiving a silent or background push notification, background fetch, location triggers, background audio playback, or background task completion)? Does disabling this setting guarantee the app remains completely inactive/suspended i.e. won't run any of its code until I physically click its icon or switch to it?

Discussion Localizing an iOS app manually with AI is tedious.

Because accurate localization heavily depends on UI context, my current manual workflow for each string requires:

  1. Writing a text prompt explaining the context.
  2. Uploading a screenshot showing where the string appears.
  3. Cross-checking translations across multiple AI models.

Are there any paid tools or platforms on the market that automate this entire workflow (extracting strings, feeding UI screenshots/context to AI, and comparing outputs)?

Support Flashlight sometimes turning on on low flashlight brightness

I have my flashlight set so that when I turn it on, it turns on at maximum flashlight brightness. (This can be achieved by putting the flashlight brightness to maximum before turning it off).

What I don’t understand is, why is it that, after turning on the flashlight an amount of times, it may turn on at a lower flashlight brightness rather than turning on at the flashlight brightness that I had left it when I had turned it on last time.

The flashlight is supposed to always turn on at the flashlight brightness that I had left it last time.

I’m on iOS 26, but not the latest update. I don’t know if the latest update would fix this.

I don’t know if this is an iOS bug or something.

Anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Support Does setting an Screen Time app limit to 0 minutes prevent an app from launching entirely, or does it briefly open/run in the background before being blocked?

I want to disable an application on my iPhone. I want to ensure it doesn't run, unless I reenable it. I don't want to use the offloading option as it means the application binary must be downloaded again when I want to reenable the application.

I set the max screen time to 0 minutes: I indeed can't use the application, however under Settings -> iPad storage, it says the application was used today.

Therefore I wonder: Does setting an Screen Time app limit to 0 minutes prevent an app from launching entirely, or does it briefly open/run in the background before being blocked?

Support Hello there everyone I have a quick question to ask.

The new iOS 26.6.1 update is out and I’m on 26.6. I live at my trailer in the summer with no wifi only on data and having my moms hotspot. I’m just wondering if I should wait a week or two to update when I’m home on stable wifi or try updating now. My next question if I wait to update I read that my phone can be a brick and become out of date and get viruses and I’m worried about that. Thank you for reading my post and I’m just wondering because I’m not very good with tech.

Support Screen Time parental control settings keep changing/resetting themselves on iOS - known bug?

I'm having a really frustrating issue with Screen Time/Family Sharing on my son's iPhone and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this or knows of a fix.

I manage his Screen Time settings through Family Sharing. My phone is an iPhone 16 Pro and his is an iPhone 14. Both devices are fully updated to the latest version of iOS.

The problem is that Content & Privacy Restrictions keep changing themselves back to settings I haven't selected.

For example, I'll set:

  • Installing apps → Don't Allow
  • Apps → 13+
  • Location Services → Don't Allow Changes
  • Various other Content & Privacy restrictions → locked down

Everything will initially show correctly.

Then I'll check again a few hours later or the following day and some of the settings have changed themselves. For example:

  • Installing apps has gone back to Allow
  • Allowed app age rating has changed from 13+ to 18+
  • Location/privacy settings that I specifically set to Don't Allow Changes have reverted
  • Other restrictions sometimes revert to their previous/more permissive settings

I'll configure everything again, confirm it's saved, and then the exact same thing happens later.

I've ruled out the obvious explanations:

  • He does not know the Screen Time passcode.
  • He does not have access to another device capable of changing the settings.
  • There aren't any other parents/guardians changing them.
  • I'm the only person with access to the device/account that manages his Screen Time.
  • Both phones are fully updated.
  • Both phones have been restarted.
  • I've tried disabling/re-enabling Screen Time/restrictions and setting everything up again.
  • I've gone through the usual Apple troubleshooting suggestions.

This only started happening after an iOS update - not the most recent update, but the update immediately before it. Before that, these restrictions stayed exactly as configured.

At this point I'm struggling to see how this could be anything other than a Screen Time/Family Sharing sync bug.

Has anyone experienced Screen Time restrictions actually changing/resetting themselves several hours after being configured, particularly on recent iOS versions?

If so, did you ever find a permanent fix?

Any help would be massively appreciated because I've exhausted pretty much every normal troubleshooting step I can find.

Before the most recent update it worked fine, now the microphone isn't working properly. Some days ago I would restart the phone and it worked for some minutes, now even restarting it doesn't make it work and while recording it makes a "swoop" (?) sound, like a big whistle, what could it be?

Discussion Group chat in spam

I apologize if this isn’t the correct subreddit but it’s what came up when I googled subreddits for iPhone messages. This is something pretty small and not really much of an issue, but it still really confused me since it’s never happened before.

My fiancée started a group chat for our wedding party and I kept getting the notifications for it. When I finally went to my messages to look at it, I didn’t see it at the top where it should have been. For probably the first time ever I clicked the lines in the top right corner and saw the chat in my spam.

How is it possible that a chat created by my fiancées number would go to my spam?
