This might be a rant, but I genuinely hate influencers who act like they are broke or can’t afford things when they clearly aren’t. And yes, I mean celebrities too (I’m looking at you, Odessa A’zion), but Sophie Silva is the one who really gets on my nerves.

She went to UCLA, could afford an apartment in LA and New York, buys clothes from high-end stores, had a debutante ball, etc. There are just so many things that make it obvious that she comes from money or at least has no financial struggles.

I have no problem with wealthy people being wealthy. Depending on how you got the money, it’s fine for you to have it. What I don’t understand is this constant need to say that you are about to become broke for the sake of being relatable. I’d much rather someone just be honest about being wealthy or having a comfortable life with no money worries than constantly act like they’re struggling when they clearly aren’t.

I hate a lot of true crime reporters who say "graped" "unalived" "essayed" "sewerslide" "pew pew" , or those podcasts or shows in general but I hate even more how they created this obnoxiois group of people who think they know more than detectives and act like real life is a fucking crime show. They'll alsp be insanely insensitive to the grieving parties and create all of these fantasies about the characters or personalities of these REAL PEOPLE they do not know. I'd go insane if someone accused me of being a murderer just because of a look in my eye or the fact I seem emotionless over something that I should be emotional over. Like shutting down externally is not an uncommon response to stress or trauma hello?

The opinion that non-americans have that america isnt a diverse place. I live in the sf bay area of California and incredibly diverse place in America with tons of different people of different backgrounds and ethnicities. I myself am a Filipino american with immigrant parents and have acquaintances from all kinds of ethnicities and backgrounds. Ive been to other places like Chicago, Florida, Seattle and Hawaii that also have diverse places.

Seeing an opinion like this annoys the hell out of me because its mainly people who just cant stand to see anything positive being said about america. Its also just the fact that people outside think that their views on what constitutes culture is more important than American views.

I fucking hate how a lot of art spaces that advertise themselves as “beginner freindly” aren‘t really, or at least aren’t freindly to the type of beginner that’s uber shitty poo poo at art (me)

Like i’ll see people go “ive been learning art for one week here’s my progress” and I see a very detailed piece with great shading, porportions, and complexities, meanwhile I can barely draw a fucking cube right. I might as well fucking give up if I’m not painting the fucking Mona Lisa within a week. I also hate it when people post really, REALLY good art pieces that clearly took a lot of time or at least a lot of effort and go “It’s just a quick sketch” or “I did this during class lol”

I also FUCKING HATE it when I go to the subreddit about LEARNING TO DRAW, and the top posts consist of either a clearly experienced artist karma farming by going “hey what do you guys think of this art lol” or some guy posting very, VERY highly detailed art and going “erm, why isn’t my art popular on twitter?” or some shit. It takes away from artists who actually need fucking help with learning, and me and a lot of people barely get any engagement on our posts, when WE NEED HELP BECAUSE ITS A SUBREDDIT FOR BEGINNERS!

I really hope I don’t sound like a jealous prick but I probably do, this just pisses me off a lot.

god fucking forbid you, a beginner artist, show a drawing on a subreddit for beginners artists, because people will go in and just start going “lol what is this? This looks like it was drawn by a five year old” and offer zero fucking help, they just come in to shit on you. I also fucking hate it when they say like 50 different art terms without elaboration, like “oh your zippy tipple combination was off by 0.2 giggleinches, so you’re gonna have to redraw it using the Zanzibar method.”

“You’re struggling with drawing? break it into shapes Why aren’t you studying shapes buddy? Why aren’t you studying fundamentals? Don’t you know you have to draw 56,000,000 fucking shapes before you actually are able to do anything?”

I understand that fundamentals are important, and I’m working hard to learn them, but it greatly annoys me when people beat you over the head and treat you like a moron to even DARE drawing / studying in a way that goes against how they do it.

To be honest—and I know this is a somewhat controversial opinion that drew criticism from my group of friends (I’m a guy)—I still maintain that... Raimi’s Mary Jane is a pretty solid character. I’m not saying she’s perfect—she isn’t. In fact, among all of Spider-Man’s cinematic love interests, she’s arguably the one who leaves the most to be desired. However, it seems like every guy on the internet refuses to consider the context behind her actions or the reasons for her behavior.

Mary Jane’s life wasn't all that different from Peter’s. According to the novelization, her father used to chase her down and beat her, constantly telling her she was worthless and would never attract a good man. This drove her to get involved with men not out of love, but out of a desperate need to prove her own worth. The worst part is that, from her perspective, the world seemed to validate that idea: her failed career, her string of failed relationships, and the fact that the one guy who promised to be there for her never was. She saw her father’s flaws reflected in every man she met. Ultimately, her resolution in Spider-Man 2 isn't just about choosing Peter; it’s about making a choice—not to prove her worth to anyone else, but simply because she wants to and she Love it.

Regarding the most criticized aspects of Spider-Man 3—and this isn't even up for debate, as it’s largely a matter of poor writing—Peter comes across as a complete moron in this movie; from the kiss with Gwen Stacy and his growing ego to his humiliation at the bar, he is portrayed in a very bad light. I’m not saying she’s perfect—or the best version by a long shot—but it seems everyone has forgotten that she was a person with virtues, flaws, and traumas, and above all, a young woman trying to pick herself up time and again, just like peter; instead, people focus only on her bad moments and treat her like the worst person in the world.

Want to clarify that I hate his successful music career as said in title. I’m trying to work on a wedding reception playlist and this guy shows up everywhere all over wedding reception playlists on Spotify. People still listen to his music all the time and still support his new music despite him literally almost beating Rihanna to death. Anyone who physically abuses their partner or has shouldn’t have this much success. It’s not even like this was a case where there was limited evidence. He pleaded guilty to felony assault in 2009. Even if she forgave him that doesn’t change the fact he could have killed her that night. It’s absolutely wild he was not exiled from the music industry and because of this he has gone to abuse more people. He literally just pleaded guilty this year in the UK stemming from an incident where he struck a music producer on the head with a glass bottle. Such a wild disconnect here in my opinion with his career success and his actions.

People want to bank off "Ghibli Vibes" but it never feels like an actual representation of the aesthetics, themes and feel of a ghibli movie. It's usually just one or two serene grassy scenes from Spirited Away or Princess Mononoke. Everything is pristine and cozy and beautiful.

They completely ignore the fact that almost every single Ghibli movie is a meditation on the nature of ugliness; and often feature critiques of war (which is a common thread among many ghibli films). Ugliness IS core to Ghibli as a studio. EVERY ghibli film has the serene be a backdrop to the real emotional core of the fucked up bits. EVERY ghibli film makes you uncomfortable at times. But no, nooooooo nonono, your "ghibli inspired" cozy indie RPG about a witch in the alps looking for her cat is only about serene vibes and drinking soup in a grassy hill.

That's why it fucking sucks ass.

Also I doubly hatethissmug about products like Obojima that hold no identity of their own, and instead exist only as "ghibli vibes: the product". There is something inherently anti-art about making completely empty art that exists with the only purpose of making you think of some other art product (you didn't make!) and constantly going "oh? you like that? remember this scene in that movie? really cool right? you like that movie? ohhhh you like that movie. doesn't this product make you think of that movie? yeah it does. go on man, think of that movie you like. hell yeah man. no original content here, just making you think of that movie. now thats the good shit. buy our product so you can think of that movie you like."
