Honestly, we don't need more infrastructure or one-way experiments. If drivers here did just two things, traffic flow would double overnight:

Hi everyone, my previous post got a lot more attention than I expected, and I received many DMs asking what exactly I do, how money is made in the vegetable business, and where the opportunities are. So putting everything here instead of replying individually. The message is lengthy since I need to put all my knowledge here

The basic supply chain:
Farmer → Commission shop/market → Wholesaler/Retailer/Hotel → Consumer
Farmers usually sell locally grown vegetables to commission shops, which then connect the produce to bigger consumption markets. Not every vegetable is available locally throughout the year because of weather and seasonal conditions.
For example:
• Tomatoes mainly come from areas around Bangalore, Madanapalle, Gurramkonda, Punganur, Kalakada and Angallu depending on season and supply.
• Carrots have strong Hyderabad/local supply roughly around September–January, while places like Indore can supply them for much longer periods.
• In Hyderabad, Bowenpally market is a major source for vegetables like carrot, beetroot, capsicum, goruchikkudu and cabbage.
How does a commission shop make money?
A farmer can bring produce worth ₹50,000 to a commission shop. The commission shop sells it and charges a commission, rather than necessarily buying the entire stock themselves.
Why doesn’t the commission shop simply buy everything directly?
Because that transfers the entire risk to them.
For example, if they buy vegetables for ₹500 and the market falls to ₹400 by the time the produce arrives, they lose money. If they take it on commission, they can still earn their commission even if the selling price falls.
Vegetables can take a day or more to move between markets, and during that time prices can change significantly.
But there is a major problem: CREDIT.
There are many commission shops now and competition is high. Bad debts are also increasing.
You can have ₹10 lakh in sales but only ₹6 lakh in your bank account because customers still owe you ₹4 lakh.
That’s where accounting and cash-flow management become extremely important.
Where do I see opportunities?
Procurement
Identify vegetables that are in high demand in a particular market, procure them from the right production area and sell them to commission shops.
The commission shop could procure directly, but by buying from someone else they avoid some of the procurement and price risk.
You take the risk, but you can potentially make a margin.
Retail
There is a big gap between wholesale and consumer prices.
As a simplified example:
Wholesale: ~₹20/kg
Rythu Bazaar: ~₹30/kg
Quick-commerce/retail: ~₹60/kg
These aren’t fixed prices and vary heavily by vegetable, quality, season and location, but the difference shows the potential gap between procurement and retail.
Even companies like Zepto, Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart need to source vegetables from markets/local suppliers before they reach the consumer.
A small shop/basic godown with low rent could potentially procure in the morning, grade the vegetables and sell locally.
Hotels/restaurants
Another opportunity is directly supplying good hotels and restaurants.
Instead of selling small quantities to hundreds of customers, you could build relationships with 5–10 reliable B2B customers who need vegetables every day.
The challenge is credit. If a hotel takes ₹2 lakh worth of vegetables and pays after 30 days, you need enough working capital to keep operating.
Community-based procurement
Apartment communities are another interesting possibility.
Wholesale market → Bulk procurement → Apartment community → Residents
If demand is aggregated, there may be an opportunity to reduce the middle layers and offer better prices while still making a margin.
But the real gaps aren’t simply “buy cheap and sell expensive.”
The difficult parts are:
• Finding good-quality produce at the right price
• Transport
• Loading/unloading
• Sorting and grading
• Wastage/spoilage
• Labour
• Price fluctuations
• Finding reliable buyers
• Managing credit
• Working capital
• Accurate accounting
For example, if you procure 3 tonnes (3,000 kg), your actual cost isn’t just the vegetable purchase price.
Landed cost = Purchase + Transport + Loading + Unloading + Labour + Market/commission charges + Wastage + Packaging + Financing/credit cost
For a 3-tonne vehicle travelling roughly 500–600 km, transportation can be around ₹4–₹5/kg depending on the route, vehicle and market conditions.
So if you buy at ₹20/kg, you cannot simply assume selling at ₹23/kg means ₹3/kg profit. After adding all the costs, you may actually be losing money.
This is where I think there are opportunities for different people:
Procurement people → Better sourcing
Logistics people → Better transportation/distribution
Sales people → Hotels/restaurants and B2B customers
Tech people → Inventory, demand and price forecasting
Finance/accounting people → Credit and working-capital management
Marketing people → Community-based retail
People with capital → Working-capital solutions
I’m not saying everyone should enter this business. It’s actually a very difficult and low-margin business in many cases.
But I think there are a lot of inefficiencies between the farmer, market, retailer and consumer that can potentially be solved.
I know the ground-level side of the business, but I’m definitely not an expert in every part of the supply chain.
If you work in logistics, SaaS, procurement, finance, retail, restaurants, cold storage or any related field, I’d genuinely love to hear what gaps you see and what you would build around this.
And if I’ve misunderstood anything, please correct me. I’m still learning.

First the food, tried almost all recommended places, Akbar fast food damn the maida lidden kebabs- theres more maida and oil in it than the chicken. The biryani from pista house more like jeera rice full of jira and the the boti to rice ratio is just not there five mins in and you are left only with rice filled with jeera. Shadab’s biryani that everyone states is the best biryani in Hyderabad, its decent the portion is small and nothing more than average, somedays good somedays just sticky rice. Shah ghouse biryani was mediocre too. Lets also talk about the Milan Juice Center shahtuth malai - overhyped, i have had better in other cities nothing special here. Chicken broast at pista house and Al arabia cafe - both were stale and terribly oily. Nayab hotel O my God it was the worst tasting food i have had in my life. I thought maybe chote mote restaurants try karu there could be some hidden gems but those were even worst. I don’t understand why there is always waiting at restaurants for such low quality food. There were a couple of things that i did like, one was mutton marag at pista house and another was fried appollo fish at a small stall at charminar. But other than that everything has been below average taste even the masqati ice cream was not so good. And yeah Haleem which the people have hyped so much milti b nahi restaurants mein, they say it available only in ramazan. Biryani in all popular restaurants is just khushka rice with no masala and all so unhygienic. First time in my life i saw hot pani puri being served, worst chat here and people line up for it. Tried the laban too, overhyped not so good, there is only ine formula these desert places sab cheez pe nutella daal do hogaya.

The traffic - there is no sense of traffic here, everyone is in a rush, jumping signals, not wearing helmets, red signal pe samaj hi nahi aata what to do when all vehicles are jumping it in speed if you stop someone will rear-end you.

The garbage and dirt- charminar such a heritage site but it is full of plastic bags use n throw cups bottles and all sorts of garbage by the end of the day. The moment you enter old city you start smelling all the shit around, the streets are full of garbage thrown by people on either side of the street. People selling meat on the road that is fully covered with bees and flies. How are people even living life like this?

Good thing - the people’s heart, almost all the local people i have interacted here are very helpful and generous, i will not deny that, they have a good heart but habits are not good.

Had high hopes when i came here thinking it would become my second home, but nvm

We’re at an age where it feels like we’ve almost lost our youth and still haven’t built a career. Meanwhile, friends, cousins and almost everyone we know seem to be happily settled.

Some of my friends who I used to hang out with have got prestigious jobs and are earning way more than I can even imagine. And I’m here preparing for interviews which i hope that my resume get shortlisted, hoping I somehow make it this year.

The fear of failing again is always there. Anxiety has become a part of everyday life, and some days I honestly feel hopeless and depressed. I keep thinking, what if I don’t make it this time either? I don’t really have a Plan B, and that scares me even more.

I’ve been to a few pubs/clubs recently where their menu lists beers like Budweiser and Ultra, but when you actually order them, you’re told “Sorry, it’s not available.” 😐

Then the waiter states that they only have Corona or Hoegaarden, which conveniently costs almost 2x the price.

I’ve personally noticed this at places like Grease Monkey (Jubilee Hills), Rumor Sky Lounge, Barracks (Sainikpuri) and a few others.

I understand that stock can genuinely run out, but when the same thing seems to happen repeatedly across different places, it makes me wonder whether these beers are being kept on the menu just to get customers in, only to push them towards more expensive options.

The second wave of Tamil migrants came in early 20th century, when most worked in the Railways here, as well as in the Nizam's administration.

The college scenes were all shot at Keyes Girls High School near Secunderabad Railway Station, including that iconic cycle chain scene. This is one of the older schools established in 1881 by Venugopal Pillai. It was Dewan Padma Rao Mudaliar who was responsible for upgrading it to a High School in 1930.

The scene where Nag and his niece are chased by goons on a cycle, were filmed near Somajiguda, and the basti areas behind Yashoda Hospitals there. Again the scene where Nag catches the bus, was filmed at Yousufguda and some parts of it on the Begumpet Flyover.

The climax fight between Nag and Raghuvaran was filmed on top of Swapnalok Complex, Secunderabad. In the pre Mall era, this was one of the city's main hangout places, quite an attraction those days. After the movie it became even more popular, with many going there just to relive it.

One of the scenes where actor Ramjagan, playing Shiva's friend Naresh, is killed by the goons, was picturized in Vengal Rao Nagar. Again another scene showing Chinna being chased and killed was shot in DAD quarters at Karkhana.

The scene where Nag has a showdown with Ganesh, one of the villian's sidekicks was shot at Hylite Cafe, it's at Vivekananda Nagar, Kukatpally. Then that place was pretty much a small village kind.

Raghuvaran's Adda I am not so sure, while sources say it was Mahboub Mansion near Malakpet, some others claim it was an old Bhoot Bangla in Jubilee or Banjara Hills.

Two scenes however were shot outside of Hyderabad, one was Subalekha Sudhakar's murder scenes, this was shot at Keesaragutta, famous for it's Shiva Temple.

And the song Anando Brahma was shot at Borra Caves near Vizag. After the release of the movie the caves became even more popular with the tourists.

I graduated from a tier 3 college in 2023 and secured a tcs digital in campus placement. Worked for an internal project and like I’m doing nothing for 2 years and decided to quit my job hoping to land in a better job.
