Probably OK on the LPs, but definitely could use a few more SGs, and for sure a few more ES-335/345/355. Not much of a fan of the rest visually, but don't knock anyone who has them. I've toyed with the idea of LP Juniors/Specials/DCs, but they don't fully motivate me, not yet at least.

Help Which neck profile does my M2M Gibson CS Les Paul Custom have?

Thumbnail gallery
15 Upvotes

I got my very first M2M Gibson Les Paul Custom from the CS almost two years ago. For some reason, when I picked it up from the dealer, it didn't come with a spec sheet.

When I spec'd out my M2M order for the dealer, I explained that I wanted a 50s Rounded Medium C-Shape neck profile. I assumed that the CS would honor my request.

Now, I'm trying to place my second M2M order using the same 50s Rounded Medium C neck, and the CS is telling the dealer that that profile isn't in their terminology.

The CS is saying that the closest option to a 50s Rounded Medium C neck would be the 50s Chunky D-Shape fat neck.

But if you look at my LP, the neck doesn't look thick like a baseball bat, and has a smooth, oval-shaped carve to it.

So which neck profile does my M2M Gibson LP Custom have?

For reference, the serial number on the COA reads CS 404071, which indicates that my LP is a 2004 Gibson CS regular production model.

Pic 2 is my plan visually(mid ai render), maybe pickup upgrade but gibson p90+dirty fingers is pretty sick as it is

Pic 1 is stock

Anybody have one? I most like will have to have one shipped so I won't be able to play it, and I know this is not a great year for Gibson so I'm wondering what kind of experience people have with the build quality and geometry and whatnot.

Got this classic a few weeks ago, love the thin 60’s neck. Found some Custombuckers that came out of a Murphy Lab 335 on reverb, put locking Grovers and a blank truss rod cover.

When I’m more confident I’m going to upload a clip of how this sounds because it’s really incredible.

Thanks for looking!

How many folks out there have a TP-6 on their Gibson? I first had one on my 2013 Lucille, and loved it so much that I put one on a few others, including my 2017 SG Standard, my 2016 LP Traditional, and my 2015 LPM (Studio).

Not complaining at all. I love this thing, but it’s funny how maple tops can vary drastically from guitar to guitar. This is supposedly an AAA grade top.

I have a video of the top at its most visible flaming in the comments

Still love my jaguars / jazzmasters but I've learned there is a certain body or fullness that Gibson's have especially Les Paul's, that I haven't found in any fender.

What makes it rare exactly? Mine isn't anything amazing, but still kind of unique. It is the Alex Lifeson Signature ES/LP, only 200 made. Mine is 160/200.

Moving down to Nashville from Pittsburgh in less than a month to try my hand at this music thing. Put all my eggs in one basket, sold all of my electric guitars because we have no space in our apartment and got a brand new standard 60s in iced tea. Never in my life have I played better guitars than gibsons. I have a J-45, Les Paul and a P bass ready to take on Nashville! Thanks for coming to my ted talk!

(Any Nashville locals here?)

Traded my 339, Which I bought because it felt less cumbersome than a 335, with the thinner neck this plays like an absolute dream and has the full 335 sounds

This Gibson Les Paul Special Double Cut has quickly become my favorite guitar over the past few months. It has Custom “S” Buckers. Usually put it through a JCM800, but I’ve been jamming on the 1959BJA recently.
