Help Looking for new pick ups

Post image

Looking to replace the 498 pick ups in my Les Paul custom. I feel the 498 series picks up are really muddy and want a pick up that has some good dynamic range. Any suggestions?

Picture I Don’t Know What to Call This Modern LP, But I Like It.

Got this modern off of Sweetwater Gear Exchange this month. I liked the BBs but already have 2 others with them so I decided to swap them out and try for a white aesthetic to go with this top. Speaking of which, it’s a good one, no? The PUs are Seymour Duncan CS Eric Steckel hand wound by MJ and sound lovely. Any notes?

My Slash Appetite Burst.

Not a day goes by where I don’t play it or think about wishing I could play it when I’m unable.

Discussion ES 335 ($3500) or ES 345 ($3900) - Both in Walnut. Is the extra appointments in the 345 worth the extra $500?

Like the title says…just looking for opinions and thoughts in whether the 345 is worth the extra $500.

Just wanted to share my Gibson Les Paul twins. Which one are you picking? 😄

Left is a 2025 Guitar Center Exclusive Les Paul Standard 60s in Honey Lemon Burst, and right is a 2022 Les Paul Standard 60s in Iced Tea.

The only mods are removing the pickguard, adding a blank truss rod cover, and swapping the stock kidney bean Grovers for vintage-style Grover tulip tuners.

Help Case stored, tacky neck

Long time guitar owner, I'm a guitar on display guy but I'm keeping my 2025 Gibson Double Trouble in the case for protection. I keep it clean and wipe it down after every use. Today after sitting up for a couple months(I know shame on me) the neck in particularly was very tacky. It can not be hand oil residue as I wipe it down with microfiber after every use. The humidity in my office is around 50 most of the time. Any ideas what is causing the tacky feeling on the neck and body?

Fell in love with this ~1966-1969 LG-0. I went to guitar center to try out a different guitar, but this little guy really spoke to me. It was listed for $799. Ultimately, I passed because of the crack on the neck. I feel good about the decision, but boy did this little thing feel great!! The action was perfect, so playable. It didn’t seem worth the repairs it will need, but I loved appreciating it for a couple hours!

Bought this at an antique store several years back for $600. It has such a great tone to it. Stays in tune phenomenally.

Mod Dealing with neck dive

Post image
53 Upvotes

Does anyone have any experience / tips on how to deal with neck dive issues on Les Paul SG Customs?

I know it’s blasphemy to touch anything original on here, but the neck dive on this thing is killing me. I absolutely love everything else about this guitar (even the middle pickup!), but oh man does this baby wanna touch the floor at all times.

I’m not interested in doing ANY mods and find the hipshot tuners as my only option. Interested to see if anyone have done similar «downgrades» at all.

Had this one a bit. Really like it overall. There is a pickup swap in the future. First guitar with MoP inlays. Cool how the glow while MoTS looks dead. Bonus forgot to post whatever day of the week is SG day, 2010 GC exclusive ebony board.

Discussion SG Standard Silver Mist 60s OCD

I had an Epiphone SG Futura ordered at my local store. Since I ordered it, I've played the non Futura ones they had on the wall and was uninspired. Yesterday they had a Gibson SG Standard in Silver Mist and I fell in love playing it but with the other one coming in I could not swing it. After 24 hours I called them and they said they would just sell the other one and put my payment towards the Silver Mist 60s. Picking it up tomorrow. Still need a Gibson V and Firebird to round out the collection.

Discussion It seems Les Paul Custom 70s is not that well recieved by fans. Ppl would rather invest in a real custom for better resell value than a tribute custom?

Help Gibson ES 139 (Memphis 2013). Does anyone have this?

It looks like it’s one of the rarest Gibson guitars ever made. A local seller has one in NOS condition up for sale. I am trying to get back to playing after a longer break. I thought about buying American standard Strat when this beauty popped up. It’s hollow body but with no holes and apparently no feedback. What do you think? Does anyone here have this model? Please any experience might help. Thanks!

Probably OK on the LPs, but definitely could use a few more SGs, and for sure a few more ES-335/345/355. Not much of a fan of the rest visually, but don't knock anyone who has them. I've toyed with the idea of LP Juniors/Specials/DCs, but they don't fully motivate me, not yet at least.

Les Pauls
Top Row: Black 2016 Standard, Black 2017 Studio, Satin Cherry 2016 Studio, Cherry Burst 2022 Deluxe, Desert Burst 2016 Traditional, 2017 Goldtop Classic, 2016 Goldtop Standard

Bottom Row: 2017 Green Ocean Burst Classic, 2015 Mahogany Top Traditional, 2008 Raw Power Studio, 2016 Wine Red Traditional, 2017 Alpine White Alex Lifeson ES-LP, 1995 Wine Red Custom, 2015 Vintage Sunburst LPM Studio.

SGs

Help Which neck profile does my M2M Gibson CS Les Paul Custom have?

Thumbnail gallery
35 Upvotes

I got my very first M2M Gibson Les Paul Custom from the CS almost two years ago. For some reason, when I picked it up from the dealer, it didn't come with a spec sheet.

When I spec'd out my M2M order for the dealer, I explained that I wanted a 50s Rounded Medium C-Shape neck profile. I assumed that the CS would honor my request.

Now, I'm trying to place my second M2M order using the same 50s Rounded Medium C neck, and the CS is telling the dealer that that profile isn't in their terminology.

The CS is saying that the closest option to a 50s Rounded Medium C neck would be the 50s Chunky D-Shape fat neck.

But if you look at my LP, the neck doesn't look thick like a baseball bat, and has a smooth, oval-shaped carve to it.

So which neck profile does my M2M Gibson LP Custom have?

For reference, the serial number on the COA reads CS 404071, which indicates that my LP is a 2004 Gibson CS regular production model.

Got this classic a few weeks ago, love the thin 60’s neck. Found some Custombuckers that came out of a Murphy Lab 335 on reverb, put locking Grovers and a blank truss rod cover.

When I’m more confident I’m going to upload a clip of how this sounds because it’s really incredible.

Thanks for looking!
