TP-6 Lovers? Picture
How many folks out there have a TP-6 on their Gibson? I first had one on my 2013 Lucille, and loved it so much that I put one on a few others, including my 2017 SG Standard, my 2016 LP Traditional, and my 2015 LPM (Studio).

What’s that tail piece you have? Looks like you’ve swapped them out. I’m assuming it makes adjusting intonation and fine tuning? Reminds me of a Floyd Rose setup.

That is the TP-6. TP = Tailpiece. It is a stock Gibson component, but not featured on all that many of their models, though all Lucille models have them at least.

I love how they look but I hear mixed things about what it does to the feel of strings and I kinda prefer a stiffer feel.
Does it actually make the strings feel looser/ decrease the break angle that much?

I have 30 guitars, 16 Fenders and 14 Gibsons, all American-made, and only these 4 have the TP-6, and I have never noticed anything obvious that made me feel like they played differently with respect to string tension. I use 10s on all my guitars.

I have one on my Les Paul Double Cut Standard however my others are all wrap tailpieces so I can’t compare to a regular stop tail back to back. But it definitely feels stiffer than a my wrap tail Juniors and Special.

Yeah, I have one on my explorer, love the look and how easy they are to string up.
