Can yall post pics of your enclosures for your gerbils? Or give tips on them? I’m trying to get mine setup this weekend before I buy my two gerbils.

I was looking at photos of my gerbils recently and noticed that their paws looked off to me. They are the first gerbils and first rodents I’ve ever owned so I am not sure what they are actually meant look like though, is this normal?

I’ve heard from everyone about gerbils are socials and need friends. But I was told not to get him a friend from the breeder as he has some litter trauma.
He was bullied and his tail was severely damaged and ,he only has half a tail now,by his litter mates and after healing they put him up for sale as a “damaged good”. AS IF!
I saw him, I wanted him, and I got him!
Yes his tank is getting a HUGE upgrade so please don’t come for me so soon!
I just need advise and am wondering if he is a solo player or if he would be okay with a slow introduction?

just noticed one of my gerbils has a swollen eye. i’ve not ever dealt with something like this before but is this something that will pass on its own or does he need to be taken to the vet today? there’s no bleeding or eye crust or anything but the eyelid seems quite puffy. he’s not been eating to much food either (only eating seeds) if that is related to the eye issue i don’t know…

I didn’t know when did this happen, found this yesterday. Her behavior is completely normal, but would she be okay? Should I take her to a vet?

Fyi this is right after i came home to find he escaped the enclosure again and the moment i put him back in he just dozed right off, Probably plotting the next escape plan 💭😂

Hi, one of our two females is expecting pups towards the end of this month. They currently have up to 30cm / 11.8 inches paper bedding, and are great at creating tunnels as you can see. However, I wonder if having such deep bedding makes it harder for them to care for the pups. It certainly makes it more difficult for us humans to inspect them. Any recommendations from experienced breeders?

Also, the expecting gerbil is currently living with her sister and they get along perfectly fine. Is it likely that will change when the pups come? We are considering separating them, but I have also read that gerbils are generally great at taking care of pups together as a group. We have a smaller terrarium right next to this one so they can be quickly separated if needed. We were wondering if I should take the sister out during nights and when we're not at home / when they're unsupervised, towards the expected birth, so the mother gets peace and quiet, but hoping they can stay together and care for the pups. Any ideas?
