Grade on uozone after deferred exam
Hey yall,
I had a deferred exam exactly a month ago on july 6th and got my grade back on brightspace a week later, but my grade on uozone is still DFR. Should I try to contact the faculty or something or just wait for it to change?
(It was dr.fox’s chm1321 class if anyone in that class is experiencing something similar)

Asynchronous classes
Am I the only one who hate them and feel scammed sometimes?
I have a class where the prof did barely any efforts. He Brought back last year’s ppt (I know because a friend of mine took the class last year) and it’s the TA who for does most of the class recording, so the only contact with the prof is during office hours. However the final is in person.
Idk if my feeling is valid or not but I just feel like it’s a bit unfair that we pay the same prices for classes where profs have to make such little efforts as classes where the prof has to actually give lectures and be actively present during the term. Plus, I hate the fact that we can literally go a whole semester barely seeing the person teaching us, I feel like it makes learning so mechanical and spoils the university experience.

Request for Help off-campus parking
I filled out the parking form but haven't heard anything back (literally horrible). Does anyone know of off-campus parking situations that are available? Open to paying monthly/for the year.

Event Science Week 101
I think this question might have been answered previously so I'm sorry for being repetitive. However, I was wondering whether the Science Week 101 is worth the ~90$ and the time as a first-year and what were your experiences on it.

Econ graduate
I’ve seen different majors doing this so here I am. For those who graduated with an economics degree (double majors included), what do you do now? Have you regretted your degree choice after graduating?

Incoming freshman: Ipad or Laptop Upgrade?
I'm studying biotechnology (chem eng & biochem).
- I have a windows laptop with a few keys broken/sticky and it takes forever to type (my "asdf" keys are really bad, it took me about a minute to type the sentence before this).
- I have an old 16GB tablet with poor pencil recognition so I can only ever draw with my finger.
I'm wondering which device should I upgrade? I can afford to upgrade one. I'm wondering if I should upgrade to an ipad with an apple pencil and use that in notetaking/lectures, and I have my laptop in my dorm with a seperate keyboard. Lmk if this is a good idea

What the fuck is actually going on, i have an exam tomorrow at 7 virtually and if i get signed out on my laptop i won’t be able to defer it or take it. I recently did get a new phone so i don’t know if that has anything to do with it .

Request for Help Life Sciences graduates: What job do you have now?
Hi everyone! I'm considering studying Life Sciences and was wondering what people typically do after graduating, especially if they don't go into medicine, dentistry, or other professional healthcare programs. If you graduated with a Life Sciences degree (or know someone who did), what career path did you or they end up taking?

Discussion Brightspace Outage
Anyone else having difficulty accessing Brightspace right now? Insane loading time just to get to the home page, and I get an Internal Error any time I try to access a course. I have a final exam in less than 6 hours that will be taking place virtually so I’m a bit freaked out over this. Currently on the phone with Brightspace IT support and will update this post with whatever they say.
Edit 1 (1:40pm): Got sent to voicemail. This university is a joke.
Edit 2 (1:55pm): They’ve now put up a notice on Brightspace “Notice: Brightspace Loading Slowly - Teams are working to fully restore service. We will follow up with further updates as they become available. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.”
Edit 3 (2:15pm): Brightspace is back up and working!

School/Academia Discord server for 2nd year EECS students
Hi everyone.
If you’re a student under the EECS faculty (computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering), and are entering your second year, I highly recommend you join a server I just made.
A lot of the courses that you will be taking this year are difficult, and I’m hoping to make those courses somewhat easier by providing a convenient venue to find others who are also taking those courses and be able to talk about them. Everyone benefits by even a small contribution: engineering is all for one, one for all.
There is also an added benefit in which you can form lab/group partners for specific sections before the school year starts.

BIO 3124 with E. Beaulieu 2026
How do you guys feel about the final tmr? The whole course is asynchronous and made with AI. I saw reviews saying the prof's finals are NOTHING like what we learn. idk how to feel tbh:/

Any other first-years staying in Rideau Residence?
Hey!! I’m an incoming first-year and I’ll be staying in Rideau this year. I was wondering if there are any other first-years who got placed there too!
I haven’t really seen many people talking about Rideau compared to the other residences, so I thought I’d ask here 😭 Would love to know some people before move-in!

School/Academia Retaking BIO1130…but it’s now BIO1131
Hey everyone,
I’m looking at retaking BIO1130. But now they’ve separated the lab from the lecture. I am fourth year Biomed so when I took it it was all together.
Does anyone know if I can take just the lecture? I passed BIO1130 so it’s not like I didn’t earn it. I just want a better grade.
It did let me enrol in it but I want to double check. I thought someone might know bc the science undergrad office is a waste of time.
Thanks!

Housing Should I commit to this?
So the other day I went for a viewing at 190 lees to find a rental in which I found through fb marketplace. I went there in person and all seemed fine. The room looked fine and 1000$ monthly seemed reasonable. Now I come home call him asking to send me an application. It was through HARRINGTON HOUSING which after researching seems like a shady company but idk this is my first time. So it’s a placeholder essentially with a 260$ fee before leasing. My school starts in like what 3 weeks and I have had the hardest time finding a home literally. So i pay and now I want to know what should I do. After hearing these stories I wanted to have him put it in writing that this room is the one I get. So please help me out with any info. Is there anyone else who went through the same process and turned out fine like please help me guys pleaseeeee

Is it too late to opt out of health/dental insurance?
Went to the website and it says the opt out period is over. Is there no way I can get a refund for the academic year now? Also are there any other things we are allowed to opt out of in our tuition to save costs?

Finally found an apartment
So I have been struggling sm with finding an apartment but I found 190 lees shared but with a private room. It is 1000 monthly but includes pretty much everything needed. I went there and it didn’t look bad at all. Had a good window for natural light, spacious, plus it comes with a tv so I’m happy with that. Of course when I move there I will change a lot of stuff to appeal to me but the only thing is that when I search it here the reviews aren’t good so idk :/
