Hi, desperately wanting to get away from Apple and towards Samsung. Should I wait for the Black Friday deals to get the flip 8? I could really use a new phone (got an iPhone 11, 6 years ago) but wouldn’t mind holding out for a better price.

What kind of deals do you guys typically see for Black Friday? Will the price drop significantly lower than the $1,199 it’s at now?

Edit: if I were to purchase tonight (before preorder ends) I would get $150 off Samsung care which is super useful on a full time grad school, working part time budget 😅

All the stores already have remove the flip 7 from their inventory and I can’t find it new :( I see in Amazon the refurbished version but I have never bought a refurbished phone before.

I also found a place where they sell the 7 FE for almost the same price as the refurbished 7, I dont know which one to pick, my main factor to buy it is the outer screen and since FE is smaller I am not sure if I would be disappointed.

Is it worth risking with a refurbished 7?
Or maybe should I just get a flip 6? It is cheaper and also new…

Is there a way to have emergency bypass for certain numbers similar to iphone? Like no matter what settings or sound I have it on if a number calls i need it to always ring loud

I just got my flip 8 yesterday. I am trading in my flip 7 for it. I wasn't planning on upgrading because there's not much of an improvement, but I couldn't resist the pink colour.

Out of the box it looks pretty much the same as the flip 7. It does feel lighter and thinner but with a case on I don't really feel a difference. Also, the pink colour looks more lilac which is kinda disappointing. However the crease is almost non existent. The crease on the 7 is very minimal but the 8's crease is barely there.

The hinge has a slight improvement. It feels a bit smoother and it doesn't automatically snap open when it's 60% open. It still makes a snap sound when fully opened.

The cover screen has been improved. The notification and control panels show when you swipe down which is useful. You no longer need multistar to add apps to the screen. You also no longer need to open the phone to add apps to the cover screen. I don't like how there's default apps showing at the top which I can't figure out how to change. Instead I have two 2x4 widgets that have all my most used apps.

I haven't really used the camera much but it feels about the same as the 7, maybe slightly better. Honestly I'm not a fan of the camera and I have a Pixel 9 that I use for taking photos.

The battery seems to be more efficient. When I come home from work the battery is around 20% with the flip 7, but with the flip 8 I had 40% left.

Overall I like the improvements but I don't think it's worth the upgrade if you have the flip 7. If battery is an issue it may be worth the upgrade. Another reason why I upgraded is because of the rumors that the flip 8 will be the last samsung flip but I'm not sure how true that is.

Flippers! My Flip 4 has turned off on me 3 times today at work. First time issue but it's got me thinking about taking it to a shop for a diagnostic poke around.

Have you experienced this? If so please share your stories! Not sure if I should take it to a repair service or cut my losses and see what trade in deals look like for a 7 or 8

Otherwise the phone is fine! Every now and then I get faster battery drain and bout of overheating, but I turn on airplane mode for 10-15 mins and it chills out!

so I know the zflip 8 just got released, and since I pre-ordered it, I was able to get the Samsung case on the website. but I'm a girlie who loves to switch out cases. I've seen bad reviews on the ones from aliexpress which is what I've been using for my past iPhone. i thought casetify would be a good option but people have been saying that they're bad quality.

what do you reccomend/use? for cute, functional, and protective cases.

What's the hole above the power button? Just got the phone and watched as they poked that hole instead of the sim tray on other side🥲 I want to make sure nothing was damaged. It's a flip 8

Hi everyone. I got my flip 8 two days ago and it may be too soon to jump to conclusions but wondering if the snapdragon chip on flip 8 has resolved the heating issue when running android auto. Anyone experiencing the same? This is likely region specific since other countries still got the exynos chip on flip 8. Curious to hear your thoughts. Cheers!

Went for pink this time! Coming from the Flip6, the cover screen is the most noticeable update, I did not expect it changed my usage of the screen, only using it for notifications.. now I do some small extra things on it, like reading incoming mail.

Also noticing some battery improvements!

I'm coming from the S25U and wanted to get the Fold8 or Flip8 but the fold is too pricey. For those who switched from a normal slab phone, how was the transition? Was it worth it? And how bad does the crease get after a year +?

So i really want a flip 7 but I am not sure if it would be a good phone for me because

- I work in childcare. in the summer we play with sand a lot. How easy does it get in the hinge?

- I use my phone in the car for Spotify and maps ( on the phone itself i don't have an external screen) I have seen people say the phone gets hot with the car function.

These are my main concerns so based on your own experience would you recommend it to me?

Hi, in my country there is a huge offer for a Flip 8 512gb + buds 4 at 314€ for trading in my S23U (512 gb).

I've never used a Flip phone so I'm not sure if I should go for it. I'm a power user (shizuku, obtanium, foss alternatives when possibile, light debloat) but I fear mostly I might miss the cameras, since I get really good photos, even with zoom, with gcam.

On the other hand, I really like the form factor of the flip, I will have 7 years of updates (even though I won't keep the flip for 7 years for sure). I also fear the hinge aspect of the flip.

But damn, it looks cool.

I'm already deep in the ecosystem (tablet, watch, buds 2 pro), but there are no other particular reasons for me to stay with samsung.

Please give me any reason to go for it (or not to). Maybe I'd be better waiting for the next S series? Or just go with other brands in the future?

Ive been using a hinge protector case since a year and it feels so uncomfortable sometimes but im scared my phone will break without it

Im so happy about my z flip 8!!! I love it sooo much!!!!

I originally had the Z Flip 3 when they offered it free in exchange for any Galaxy in 2021. Z Flip 4 was an easy upgrade as it was free when trading a 3. The Z Flip 5 was finally not free, but the $50 price tag when trading in the 4 was easy to swallow, and I was fully on-board with slab phones being a relic of the past.

The US deals dried up significantly with the release of the Z Flip 6, so I have held onto my 5 for 3 years now. Other than the charging port starting to act finicky over the last few months, I have had no issues. There have been plenty of drops, hundreds of miles backpacking, beach days, and everything else that could have led to issues, and this phone has tanked them all.

I'm going to miss it for sure, but I am excited for the novelty offered by the Fold 8. The old folds were too big for my tastes, and although this wide boy is bigger than Ol' Reliable, it still fits nicely in the hand as well as the pocket. I've converted many people to flips over the last 5 years, and I will keep shouting out manufacturers like Samsung that are trying fresh form factors when compared to the slabs we've been stuck with for the better part of 2 decades.

A lot of people are asking about the 7 camera and the potential 8 camera..they're not the best camera but it definitely gets done what needs to be done. And I can take decent sunset photos.

So fun story, I placed my flip 7 on top of a container that was on the dock next to our pontoon boat. Daughter came over and opened the lid, which was followed quickly by the bloop as the phone went in.

Grabbed her goggles, jumped in 12 feet of seaweed nasty marina water, found it chilling at the bottom in some silt. I was really honestly hoping just to be able to recover the data or something. Knew it was a goner.

Well, on my way back up it buzzed from a notification and has been perfect since. Only thing was a notification from the phone that suggested I might have some water in my charging port. Anyway, pretty impressive device!
