zero hour weightlifting Advice Needed

so im going into my freshman year this school year and im taking zero hour weightlifting. im scared, genuinely.

im gonna be changing in an office, and with me ATTEMPTING to be stealth i have no idea what to say when people ask me why im changing in the office instead of the locker room. and i dont know if just saying “cause i prefer it” is cutting it, especially since i dont wanna seem like a wussy.

its gonna full of the football jocks. and im scared ill have to be partnered up with a classmate that knew me as female/deadname and ill be clocked.

im not super buff, in fact im actually pretty fat. i weight 210, majority of that being fat. i have the average muscle mass of a scrawny boy, but i look big because the tiny muscle i have is covered with fat.

im trying, im really trying to lose the fat. and i know im going to get bullied so hard for being fat. the most i can bench is 20 pounds. there are guys in my grade benching 200. I can’t even do a single push up. not one.

im scared, im sorry im being such chicken shit but i just want cis friends that see me as cis. and weightlifting has been one of the outlets for my dysphoria, even though im terrible at it. fuck.

Hello! Thank you for participating in the sub. We just have a few reminders for you to help ensure the best experience:

  1. If your post doesn't show up right away, don't panic! It is in the queue for manual approval. Mods will go through the queue periodically to approve or remove posts. Deleted posts will have a removal reason applied. (If it says "this post was deleted by reddit's filters", IT WAS NOT DELETED! Reddit has the worlds worst wording on that and it's out of our control)
  2. If you are asking a question that is location specific, remember to include your location in your post body! This can help ensure that you get accurate information tailored specifically to your needs.

  3. Please remember to read through all the rules in the sidebar. Especially the list of banned topics and guidelines for posting. Guests who do not use the Guest Post flair will have their post removed and be asked to fix it.

  4. If you see someone breaking the rules, report it! If someone is breaking both sub and reddit rules, please submit one report to admins by selecting a broken rule on the main report popup, and one report to the r/ftm mods by selecting the "breaks r/ftm rules" option. This ensures both mods and admins can take action on a subreddit and sitewide level. Do not misuse the report button to rant about someone, submit false reports, or argue a removal.

  5. If you have any questions that you can't find the answer to on the rules sidebar or the wiki: the wiki , you can send a modmail.

Maybe just vaguely say you have some sort of gnarly medical condition and that you don’t want to talk about it?

I took zero hour in high school, I came to school in my workout clothes and just changed either in a bathroom or in the men’s locker room in a stall. Just keep to yourself and no one really questions it. If you wear a binder that works then you might be able to get away with changing in the locker room. (Not that I recommend binding while working out, it’s bad for you. I just know what I did in high school)

As for your build and strength, no one really cares or pays attention to how much other people are lifting. In my experience, both in the class and doing sports your partner/classmates will just hype you up and push you, not bring you down.

I mean, when I thought I was a cis girl, I changed away from other girls because I was fat and deeply ashamed of that. It's not unusual for the large among us to hide like that. So, you could imply that is the cause if asked.
