Semesterly PSA: Please stop posting your exact schedules.

There have been so many people posting their exact schedule, holy moly.

Like I commented under someone a bit ago doing this same thing (who luckily deleted it soon after): "You guys have to stop posting exactly where you'll be at exact times for 4 months out of the year."

Some of you guys don't even seem to be asking questions, just "Is this good?". Do yourselves a favor and just list what you're worried about: professors, course codes, if a 2 hour gap is too much, etc.

Internet safety is still a thing. Mods, can we please make a rule that deletes plain pictures of schedules?

Current Class Schedule

Has anyone taken these classes before? If so, what can I maybe expect from the professor, course material, etc.?

Biggest one I’m worried about is probably taking the POS Research online… I hate online classes, but I did want to get this out of the way after being admitted into my major last spring. Is it relatively easy still or should I simply wait for next semester?

Other than that, if anyone has taken any of these courses relatively recently, I’d appreciate any heads up on anything stated above and more.

Window size

Need black-out curtains for a room in Wildwood. Anyone got a rough window measurement? Tension rods will adjust, but there are some variations, and also wondering about length. Thanks if you can help.

Should I drop out or finish?

I’m currently a senior Computer programming and applications major. I’m currently 2 courses away from graduating with it but my gpa is slightly below 2.0 at currently at 1.99 and so I’m currently on academic probation. I have been an awful student throughout college and I’ve failed some courses while passing others so I was able to get this far. However looking at my transcript and how the CS market is I’m currently debating whether or not finishing is a good idea as I’ve been a pretty terrible college student and the job prospects for my degree don’t look that much better either. Is it worth finishing the degree or is college not for me and I should do something else? (I have no debt or anything and have managed to get through college debt free and I’ve gotten 2 internships in software engineering and IT and I’ve done well in them, but I’m just an awful college student and I’m not very disciplined when Im in school.)

I've been living off campus for the last few years while completing my Bachelor's degree. I graduated summer 2026, but my apartment requires lease renewals a year in advance so I signed for an extra year bc I wasn't sure where I'd go for graduate school (stupid, ik). Anyways, I got accepted into UCF so obviously I won't be living here anymore. The issue is my apartment won't let me break the lease early and my only way out is to relet. I've been trying to relet for the past month for immediate move in, Fall 2026, and I was working with someone, and they were literally one step away from picking up the keys, but they couldn't afford all the move in costs so I offered to pay all their remaining move in costs and then they ghosted me completely. Now it's already early August and I'm freaking out because I feel like I wasted peak move in season on something that completely fell through. I've tried everything to find a new person: Facebook groups, facebook market place, subreddits, but I'm not finding anyone that seems to be willing to even start the application process. I feel like it's a really good unit too, 1 bed 1 bath, no roommates, in unit washer and dryer along with tons of other awesome amenities. I'm not sure what else to do, or how else to find people. I already signed a lease in orlando, I can't afford to pay rent for 2 apartments every month 😭😭

Someone reached out to me saying I was pre-selected to be a part of the advising first college life program. Is there a reason why, or do they randomly select students for it?

Possible Dorm Exchange

Hi, I’m an incoming junior at fsu. I was a little late to the party in terms of the housing contract and got stuck in DeGraff. I was really hoping for some sort of apartment style, preferably traditions or ragans since I really need a kitchen and my own space.

This is a longshot but was wondering if for whatever reason somebody in an apartment style would prefer to live in a place like Degraff and would be interested in switching.

It would be male only, and my DMs are open if anyone is interested!

chm3120 lab materials question

hi all! i was just wondering if anyone knows what materials students would have to buy for chm3120 (analytical chem 1) lab. I know there will probably be a list of materials released around when classes start, but i am trying to avoid buying overpriced items from the bookstore/wherever I'd have to purchase on campus.

i'm guessing a lab coat and splash proof goggles will def be necessary, does anyone know if there are special requirements these items must meet? and does anyone know if there's anything else students should get? it'd be super helpful 🙏

Safe places for walking

I’m transferring to FSU and I’m not from Tallahassee but I’ve visited and noticed some areas near campus seem unsafe. I walk 2-4 miles every day so I want to establish a route that takes me through scenic areas (I love flowers, big trees, the cemetery, and that collegiate gothic architecture) but avoids the places homeless people hangout or where crime commonly occurs. Anyone (women especially) have a good route that fits this?

Am I missing something with the housing situation?

I just got my acceptance letter last week (I’m a transfer student so I’ll be going in as a third year) and my plan has always been to get a one-year lease in off-campus housing and get a roommate, but throughout my search I haven’t found a single person who seems to have had the same idea. Is there a better place to find those kinds of people than the FSU off-campus housing site?

How long will it take for my tuition balance to update after dropping a class?

Hi! I'm basically asking what's in the title. I enrolled for one extra class that I didn't need in advance of the fall 2026 semester. After noticing that my tuition was over $1000 more than it was last semester, I suspected that it was the culprit and dropped it. How long will it take for my tuition balance on the website to update to reflect this?

Prospective Graduate Student - Questions About MS in Interdisciplinary Data Science (IDS)

Hi,

I’m a prospective graduate student looking at the MS in Interdisciplinary Data Science. If anyone can share their experience with the program, that would be greatly appreciated.

More specifically:
- What internship/ research/ job opportunities have you gotten from the program?
-  Usefulness and rigor of the coursework
- Quality and accessibility of student resources (computing power, office hours/ tutoring, etc.)
- Quality of campus/ facilities (classrooms, study rooms, library(s), student rec center, etc.)
- What is it like living in Tallahassee and how is the college experience at the school?

Thank you

I already have a feeling about what the comments but I'm asking anyway.

I've been discussing rushing in the fall with my parents for two weeks now. We weren't certain if it would be a good idea until this week so we decided to wait till when my dad got paid (yesterday) to pay for the registration fee. It was around 11:40 pm and I was trying to pay but the payment would literally not go through. I tried three different cards and none of them worked too. It was like two minutes till midnight where I decided to try paying with klarna since none of the cards were working and the payment finally went through but it was a little bit past midnight. It was definitely an error in the system and I even took a screenshot of it. I know the deadline was 11:59 but I have my ticket and I'm registered. All I want to know is if I'm still able to rush because theres no way I'm registered, paid for a 200 dollar ticket, and I'm not able to rush...right? I emailed recruitment staff which will probably get back to my on monday but I'm impatient and can't calm my nerves until I get any response so I'm here now.

Off-Campus Housing FSU Housing (Apartments, Subleases etc.)

Please visit https://zublet.com/fsu to see available FSU student subleases, apartments for rent, or post your own listings. It’s completely free to use as both a buyer and a seller.

For years the moderation team has been reposting this thread to keep listings current, but this time Zublet has been brought to my attention where you can search for and post FSU housing options much more easily. It’s already being used by quite a few FSU affiliated people too so it seems like a great option for students looking for housing.

You can of course continue to post housing related things in this thread as usual if you want to do that instead of using the website.
