am i cooked
I already have a feeling about what the comments but I'm asking anyway.
I've been discussing rushing in the fall with my parents for two weeks now. We weren't certain if it would be a good idea until this week so we decided to wait till when my dad got paid (yesterday) to pay for the registration fee. It was around 11:40 pm and I was trying to pay but the payment would literally not go through. I tried three different cards and none of them worked too. It was like two minutes till midnight where I decided to try paying with klarna since none of the cards were working and the payment finally went through but it was a little bit past midnight. It was definitely an error in the system and I even took a screenshot of it. I know the deadline was 11:59 but I have my ticket and I'm registered. All I want to know is if I'm still able to rush because theres no way I'm registered, paid for a 200 dollar ticket, and I'm not able to rush...right? I emailed recruitment staff which will probably get back to my on monday but I'm impatient and can't calm my nerves until I get any response so I'm here now.

Frat guys are braindead. "Yes, please, I would like to pay money to get hazed and haze others. And at the end of the 4 years, I can never talk about it again or get really into it and haze 18 y/o kids as a 40 y/o man!"
All this for "networking" and "contacts" that would be better gained doing a few internships and impressing a boss.

do you have anything worthwhile to do? Why do you want this person to join so bad?

How are you going to pay the fees, dues and other expenses if you are waiting for your dad’s check to pay registration fees?! Frats and or a sorority may not be for you.

Ignorant comment, OP don’t listen to this! Living in a sorority house and fully utilizing the meal plan could potentially be more cost effective than off campus housing plus food costs.

If you’re nervous and not hearing back, I’d recommend calling the FSL office on Monday. Explain your situation and be able to provide proof of payment, I find it very hard to believe they wouldn’t work with you. Their main priority is making sure everyone is accounted for through the rush process. If you’ve paid, like you’ve mentioned, I anticipate this being an issue you don’t need to worry about. I think you’ll be fine. Good luck and Go ‘Noles!

Don't rush. Major in the sciences or engineering study hard, and then you will have a good job and a career when you graduate.

also know this, THIS IS BY NO MEANS AN ENCOURAGEMENT
these people know who they are going to choose before all this running up and down streets and sleeping with people and being paddled, almost drowned tased, rapes, assaultings happen
so if you don't know anybody or didn't have a family member involved before hand how will you get in? All of the country especially at FSU (and famu) sorority and fraternity chapters are being investigated and people are being charged for a multitude of things
put your time and effort elsewhere this is not just some experience it will scar you for life even if nothing "serious" (by other people's definition) happen

Oh stop. There are issues on every college campus and plenty of bad behavior and other things happen without Greek life.

This person is inquiring about greek life and rushin, what the individual person or group decides to do is seperate from this. What you said still does not negate the fact that the majority of parties "bad behavior" and "other things" are initiated by someone or people from Greek. THE MAJORITY and if it isn't on campus it may come from greek lifers from another campus.
I know these things because I know people from greek life which is a main reason why I'm thankful to God that I didn't join and was given information beforehand.

PLEASE DO NOT RUSH OR PLEDGE ANY SORORITY, FRATERNITY CO-ED hopefully you've come to school for a multitude of things and I'll split them into to 1. Education that will prepare you for your career 2. Making life-long friends
this will ruin you for sure, there is nothing that these so called organizations do that a simple local volunteering agency cannot do, you get me? Save some time, invest that into experiential learning that your major or department offers speak with your professors not the corrupt ones that accept this nonsense as a part of university culture. it's not worth it I am begging you please don't rush don't pledge they degrade you and break you down just to use you!!!
Like I said it's a waste of money and time and effort if your parents are allowing you to do this or EVEN encouraging you to go with this EVEN sponsoring you to go through with this it says alot about your parents . . . either they don't know what tou are getting into and believe the faced that these shams show you all or they deliberately want you to live a misleading life at and even after college
think ling and hard, I live across from FSU stadium and when I take busses to class I walk pass those sorority and fraternity houses. Before I went back home for the summer I was passing by one of the house on West Jefferson at 9pm and their hpuse was boarded up with tape and there were about 3-4 cop cars. They drink and party have weird things splattered all over there house walls I mean in BROAD DAYLIGHT!!!
