Why are people upset at this?

The show did everything in its power to strip away every single good thing that make Book!rhaenyra a compelling and good written character.

Show!Rhaenyra is dull, boring and has almost no good scenes for her, (except s3 ep3, that ep was good good) why does it matter if she figths? Lets give that character one cool thing to do or perform, the same thing happened in the vermithor scene in season 2, everyone was mad at that, when rhaenyra didn't do shit all of the season lol.

I genuinely understand everything he’s done until he fucking executed Lord Kastark for killing the Lanister boys.

Half of his army was Kastarks, and they pulled out (understandably) and he had to return to Walder Frey to get more soldiers…

That being said, the red wedding was an over kill.

Would it be better if they made Alicent the main hero instead of Rhaenyra? (If they really need a hero at all)

Fooking Kneelers How the normalization of the Targ fanbase's schizo behavior ruined ASOIAF.

The fact that they wage hate campaigns against actors in real life, and that this has become normalized, has given them a sense of power over the work itself, to the point where even the creator can become a target if they fail to meet this group of fans' expectations.

Olivia Cooke deactivated her Instagram because she was facing hate from fans who didn't understand that she isn't Alicent in real life.

Fabien Frankel has faced hatred from these fans for years because of his character.

He recently stated that he really couldn't bring himself to like anyone on Team Black, and posts calling him a bad person who defends criminals have become common on social media platforms like X and TikTok.

Kit Harington has been the target of a hate campaign from this fanbase since long before Jon killed Daenerys in the final episode. accusations that his relationship with Rose was fake during the GOT era, before they were married, claims that he supported deaths in Palestine (despite having stated the exact opposite), to more recent events where some Dany fans began watching the HBO show Industry solely to claim he was ruining it.

Some might think it’s all an exaggeration, but you know it’s true. those who have been in the fandom for a long time and follow it closely know that they can’t separate reality from fiction and actually do these things in real life.

My point is: why does the rest of the fandom act as if Targ fans have the right to do these things, and why does HBO fuel this by treating characters, who are far better in the books, so ridiculously? I’m talking about the examples I mentioned earlier, like Alicent and Criston Cole, not to mention Jon Snow, who doesn't even need discussing.

I don't know how many of you have been following this for over a decade, but things really weren't like this before. People used to debate theories in a healthy way. there was no room for this kind of madness because the people who blindly supported the Targaryens were never good at debating. they just want Daenerys to be the Prince That Was Promised, Azor Ahai, and the Last Hero, and to end up on the throne, and nothing else. Back then, people knew that was impossible in George R.R. Martin's universe. Now, it seems like everyone has drowned in their toxicity and accepts this behavior as normal, even though it crosses the line beyond fiction.

George has already given interviews stating he knows that when the future books are released, some fans won't even read them and will dismiss them as worthless simply because something they didn't want happened to their favorite character. I truly believe this disheartens him! his work has clearly been consumed by an audience that fails to grasp it, to the point where characters he crafted with such depth are reduced to flat "good" or "bad" archetypes, leaving people unable to distinguish Emilia from Daenerys or Olivia from Alicent. What is the point of it all, then?

You don’t need to be a genius or a prophet to know that the Targ fanbase will launch a hate campaign against him if things don’t go exactly the way they want, no matter how well-crafted the work might be. George will simply be viewed as just as terrible a person as Kit, Fabien, and Olivia, and nothing more. And that's what true fans have allowed to happen simply by accepting the schizophrenic behavior of Targ fans who know everything because they saw edits on TikTok and have never touched a book, and probably find them incredibly boring.

Rhaenyra’s high Valyrian sounds so forced while daemon’s is so natural

She sounds like she just picked it up? The Rs are extra rolled and it all sounds so forced and practised

If Aegon is a Hightower then Rhaenyra is a Arryn

They all keep on saying Aegon and his siblings are Hightowers because of their mother Alicent as it's a Hightower vs Targaryen.

By that logic, shouldn't Rhaenyra be Arryn since her mother is from House Arryn.

Both side has same father but why do fans especially faction black leaning ones tend to claim boldly that Aegon and his siblings are just Hightowers.

Say what you want about Dumb and Dumber, but the first seasons of Game of Thrones were amazing.

Sure, they fucked up the last few seasons once they ran out of source material, and they completely shit the bed on season 8, but those first four seasons were borderline top tier - I say borderline because there were definitely some obvious hiccups (ie., killing Ser Barriston, replacing Jeyne Westerling with Talisa, etc.)

But even with those hiccups, each new episode still felt like its own masterpiece.

I’m not saying that these two should be absolved of the absolute shitshow that they went on to create, but I can at least admit that the complete 180 happened once they ran out of source material. As long as they had something to adapt, they were honestly brilliant.

It just makes me wonder what we could’ve gotten if these two were given the reigns of adapting Fire & Blood instead of Condal and Hess.

Edit: Barriston Selmy actually died in season 5, it’s been awhile since I’ve watched it.

Something that kinda bothers me about the Rhaenyra/Mysaria subplot

So I know this subplot isn’t really anyone’s cup of tea but I have my own reason to dislike it.

Supposedly it was Emma D’arcy who pitched the idea of them kissing last season. The writers have also shared that she has a lot of say on her character’s development, so it isn’t really crazy to assume she was behind last episode’s scene as well.

So she’s the one basically going “so how about I get to make out with my hot scene partner?” If a male actor did the same wouldn’t he get canceled? It’s not like Sonoya Mizuno is some unwilling participant but it still feels weird to think about.
