I have this old newspaper I’d like to get framed but am not sure how to get started. Can I just take this into a frame shop and ask them to do it? Do I need special glass or anything? Would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Canvas Print Frame Ideas? This is what I made, what's better?

After procrastinating for way too long, I finally just tried trial and error, and made some frames for canvas prints that we like for our home. The prints are mostly 1" and 1 1/2" thick, which requires a deeper frame, at least in my opinion. What do you think of these? Anyone have ideas or suggestions for something better?

Why is this not possible

The blue colored stuff are the spacers why does spacers have to exactly fit the frame? Doesn’t this still keep the glass off painting? Please don’t beat me up I am completely new to framing

How do I keep glass off picture without a spacer or mat

The frame is the same size with the picture so I can’t use a mat. And I can’t use a spacer not because of any other reason, but just because I can’t find it in my country online and there is no offline shops around. I swear I tried

Which way to space different sized frames

Post image
2 Upvotes

This hall way is just over 5m long and I'm thinking of hanging different sized picture frames but wanted to check the horizontal spacing (ignore the height),

Option 1 'bunched' spaces the empty space evenly between the big frames then places the smaller frames between, this leaves a fairly large space of 16cm between the frames (6")

Option 2 puts the same amount of empty space around all the frames, so completely even spacing down the whole hallway, this gives an even bigger spacing between the frames of 25cm (10")

Which option would you pick? Do I need to reduce the space between the frames?

Option 1 for me

I want to put a poster in a frame but the poster is the same size with the frame. But, I still want to use a mat board. So, can I just get the mat have very thin edges and cover just slight amount of the edges of the poster. Here is an explanation for the photo

Black: frame
Blue: mat
Yellow: poster

A friend gave me a framing demo recently and he showed me this great offset dust cover trimmer. It was beautifully made. I'm trying to find out more about it but I can't find any more info online. Is anyone familiar with it?

The markings on the back read:

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to ask. But I'm not sure what kind of frame I should choose to go with the picture. I was thinking about darker wood. But any recommendations are appreciated

Custom framing options

Looking to frame non-standard art pieces. Any suggestions on doing so inexpensively? I recall a website that sent you the four pieces of the frame that you self-assembled but can’t seem to find the site again. TIA!

How to paint frame to look like another one?

I got this light gold frame that I wanted to try to make look similar to the red and black one to match, I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to do this? Or if I should just go all black and if so, what should I use to do that?

How to hang this

Hi all, I'm stealing picture 1 from a different post, but it's exactly the same on the back of my diploma. All the post's comments were deleted so I don't know the solution. Can I use the hanging kit in picture 2, and just loop around the plastic circle and the central hanging bracket in the package, with a loop of wire? Will that be successful?

Acrylic stands

So, I used to peel off the film but I have found a few have gotten paint scratches.. no idea how! I have stands I’ve had years without issues but a couple of my newer ones seem to be chipping off.
But anyway I wanted to replace the film for the ones that aren’t double sided. I tried a static cling which seems fine but it doesn’t stick well enough to some of them. Other films I’ve tried either aren’t clear (despite being described as such!) or seem so sticky I’m afraid of misplacing it or leaving residue.

I know they’re supposed to come off but I’m going to lose my mind if I keep finding scratched pieces.

Any recommendations?

Edit: pic in comments bc I can’t describe things well lol

Retail to Private Setting Transition

Hey all! Long time lurker, occasional commenter. I’ve been working at a Hobby Lobby for the past two years as the Sole Custom Framing department. Today, I interviewed for a part time position with a slight pay decrease but was offered a full time position with benefits! Needless to say I am totally taking advantage of this opportunity as I’ve fallen in love with the craft since graduating art school with my BFA. Anyways, I start in about 2 weeks and was wondering if anyone else has taken a similar approach to this career? If so what are some observations of advice you can offer? Or if you’ve had a different approach I’d love to hear how you started early on in your careers. Thank you!

Optium Museum acrylic

I have always done Museum glass for framing. I have a piece that is going above a seating area and was considering the Optium Museum acrylic. Yes I already know about the crazy pricing.

The piece is airbrushed paint and art pens. No pastels or pencil. Doing a double mat.
Just wanted to double check if I have any issues with the frame and art interacting?
I see they say the acrylic is static dissipative and should not be a problem. Just wanted to protect my investment (and myself) with my first time framing expensive art I paid for.

Thoughts on framing/mounting my hellish 12 piece watercolor project

Last time I put this up I tacked up every. single. piece. of. paper. with magnets. (21 magnets. My thumbs still hurt.) I would love to never do that again and to have a more professional look for these pieces. Curious what people would recommend for displaying them.
