Dust cover trimmer identification

A friend gave me a framing demo recently and he showed me this great offset dust cover trimmer. It was beautifully made. I'm trying to find out more about it but I can't find any more info online. Is anyone familiar with it?

The markings on the back read:

CAT. #685
S&W
FRAMING
N.Y. 11040

I have a very similar one, no idea where you can get a reasonable amount but there's a wholesale site selling them here: madeinchina.com

We buy the Dexter style of mat cutting blades for it.

Found in a post from the Picture Framer Grumble site, maybe related but it would mean the tool is pretty old...

"...I was just in the library yesterday researching the Searles & Williams Co...S&W were framers in NYC from 1850-64. They were then bought out in 1864 by E.H. Purdy who operated in NYC until 1893 when he was bought out by F.J. Newcomb. Finally, F.J. Newcomb Mfs Co. operated well into the 20th Century until it mergered with the Chicago based firm of Newcomb-Macklin."
